Elegant Desk

After opening the box and finding there were 50 individual pieces of wood that needed to be aseembled, I was a little anxious about getting started. However, the instructions were very clearly written and included pictures. You could also scan a Q-code and see a step-by-step assembly video. We were extrememly impressed by how well the wooden desk parts, screws, fasteners and brackets were clearly identified both on the individual packaging and within the instructions. The only issue we experienced (which was our own fault, by the way) was that we assembled the desk on top of the breakfast bar in our kitchen so we could see what we were doing. We then had to take it down and flip it over right side up. The desk is very, very heavy which is not a bad quality to have, but we could have used another person to help us older folks get the desk down from the counter top. All in all, we are very pleased with the product. There is more than enough room for my double-monitors and my laptop, and plenty of storage space in the drawers.

Lovely desk - Good Buy - Unexpected defects

I have been using Suader products for 20 years and do prefer them for their perfect quality. This desk is great and looks lovely. However, I found some defects that you normally do not see on Sauder products. The handle rings were unfinished, boards were not aligned as holes were not drilled to perfect alignment and the wood was chipped off. I have attched photos of these defects. Well, I know Sauder replaces stuff, but it is not practical to keep waiting for a week or 10 days with all parts open and laid on the floor. Also, the defects were noticed progressively as the assembly was being done. So I had to accept and move forward with having a piece of furniture that was less than Stellar quality that Sauder is know for. I hope this is a one off case, as I love Sauder - they make good furniture at a great price. I still recomend this desk as it looks really elegant. Just make sure all pieces are perfect before you start assembly.
