A great multi tool from a great brand
This tool is fantastic, the pressure trigger and different speed modes make this a great tool. The 20v platform is a great and powerful platform for these tools and this tool does not lack in power . Little vibration, easy and adaptive trigger, super quick blade changes. What’s not to love?
Handy Multi Tool
Great tool for the DIY homeowner! Many Many uses. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the way the battery mounts, it can be difficult to get flush cuts in some tight spaces. Otherwise, More than enough power and quick mount lever makes changing blades fuss free [just remember the lever is plastic so don't go Gorilla when handling it]. There is also a secondary mount option included with a bolt and "washer" except it didn't include an allen key for the head of the bolt. Minor issue.
Versatile, simple
I've had this tool for about 5 months now. When you think of a clutch tool in your tool box this is the one that should come to mind. I upgraded from the Mastercraft and it was night and day. the versatility of having the cordless version is amazing, blade changes are simple. All in all a great tool along with all my other DeWalt tools.
Perfect little tool with amazing power
Truly an awesome multi tool. Needed a tool to cut into the grout to lift off a few tiles when we discovered that there was water damage that went all the way down to the subfloor into the basement ceiling. Small and mighty, this did the trick. Created minimum dust, and was a fast, clean cut with the right bit. When we got to the subfloor again this was perfect for the small section to cut out the subfloor. We had 2 rechargeable batteries and I was able to switch back and forth and got the job done. Love the universal bit option. If you have decent grip strength it’s easy to take on and off the bit. I did notice after switching the bits up it did get a little easier. Test it out before you buy it in case you don’t have good grip strength. Also seems like basic 101…. Tip of the day….Pull out the battery before you change the bit. Awesome DEWALT tool. Highly recommend.
Tool works great but was missing one blade
Well, I was not too suprised when I received my new (to me) Dewalt Oscillating tool and it was missing one of the cutting blades. I did reach out to them in an e-mail and they did return to me some money and i can just purchase the missing blade. The tool does work great but did not come in the manufacturer box, it was in a plastic bag. Shipping was good with this item.
Dewalt Multi-tool
Dewalt makes some very durable and well made cordless power tools. This multi-tool is no exception. Works as expected and feels solidly constructed.
Works great - now I know why people have these
Super time saver for all kinds of jobs. Used this to cut baseboard around a new built-in bookshelf, used it to cut a cutout my router wouldn’t fit into, etc. Using this tool on that little job saved me at least a half hour of hammer and chisel work. Totally worth it. Easy to use to cut anything at 90 deg, and can cut right into a corner where just about any other power tool won’t fit. The blade is flexible and easy to guide on the fly.
The #1 tool in my toolbox
My absolute favorite tool ever. These DeWalt XR cordless tools are worth every penny. The multitool allows for easy changes between blades to cut through drywall, wood, and other materials. It is incredibly versatile and a great gift for DIYers, contractors and homeowners. Easy to handle and can make tasks like cutting drywall so much easier and faster.
Use with carbide blade to cut Class 9.8 M15 bolt.
Picked-up this DEWALT DCS356B oscillating multi-tool last year, but only recently got to use it when I got in a jam.
The tool I never knew I needed
Have used the tool more than I thought I would have. Used it to cut through metals, wood, drywall and excess spray foam. Used it for sanding and works really well for that, easy to get into corners. The versatility makes this my favourite go to tool and has helped me get more projects done around home. Vibration is pretty noticeable on the 3rd setting full go but nothing that would harm the cutting precision and control of the tool. Otherwise vibration is pretty minimal for the type of tool it is. Noise isnt to bad but would wear hearing protection if on 3rd setting or cutting metal. As per usual it has the dewalt quality fit and finish.
Oscillating tool rocks
I use tool daily to cut, notch, trim, chisel, strip, etc. Most versatile tool in my bag. To cut doorways to install luxury vinyl, I lay piece of vinyl next to jam, lay tool flat on the luxury vinyl and cut away. It’s perfect height for vinyl to slide underneath. Also use to cut caulk for removal of various items like backsplash/riser, trim, and if careful can use to free old silicone around risers o. sinks or tiled corners in showers. (Use dull blade for that) the metal cutting blades will cut extremely soft metals, but even blades designed to cut off nails will damage blade cutting one nail unless nail is nearly rusted through. Also use to cut PVC, rubber tubing, notch boards, etc. A million + uses
Good tool. Does the job. Behind other brands.
I have bought into the dewalt system and I do like the variable speed paddle trigger over switches. But if you understand multi-tools, then you know the speed at which the blade vibrates and how much pressure you put on the blade, will determine how long the expensive blades for this tool will last. I was surprised to see that they have added a ‘1-2-3’ speed set on this tool like the higher end drill line, to help dial in the speed but even with a variable speed trigger, it can be hard to dial in the right speed for the blades being used. What would be nice is a ‘1-10’ dial that used the number set to, as the peak of the paddle switch speed. I do enjoy dewalt tools and they get the job done, but sometimes they seem to not make a dramatic enough approach for the professionals out there that depend daily on these tools, unlike other brands. Something else I would highly enjoy to see on every dewalt tool is a pocket (like drills) or rafter hook (like air guns) on every tool. Using a multi-tool 2 stories in the air, without any way to safely store away from drops is one of the most annoying things, and the best solution I have come up with is to steal a pocket hook from an old drill to put on this tool that has the ability to take such a hook.
I love my DeWalt multi-tool!
This is one of the most versatile tools I have used in years. I owned a corded multi-tool for a couple of years and used it very little with the blade that was furnished by the manufacturer. This is my 3rd cordless unit that I have purchased recently. I have found specific blades that make this tool invaluable. The wide blade with Japanese teeth is excellent for cutting and trimming wood or cutting drywall. We literally never use a drywall saw anymore. The multi-tool is so easy. For cutting nails, bolts or staples the bi-metal blades make it a snap. I used to spend hours pulling staples when re-upholstering chairs and couches. The multi-tool, with a bi-metal blade, zooms through those staples without gouging the wood. It leaves the surface completely clean. Removing grout is a snap when repairing tile. I don't damage the porcelain as easily as a grinder. It is much more gentle, yet agressive in production. I just love my DeWalt 356 multi-tools.

I had seen videos of a oscillating tool in use, but never had seen one in person. I have three projects lined up that I thought would be easier to do if I had the tool, so I purchased the Dewalt 20 Volt Oscillating Tool Kit. I purchased a Dewalt because I'm already on their 20 Volt platform and love their tools as well as their price points. My first project was to put up paneling in a room and used the tool to cutout the outlet holes. It was amazing how fast this was done. No more using a drill to make holes in the corners and then using a jig saw to cut the hole. Also, if you need to make the hole a little bigger, it's takes about 2 seconds to do it. The second project was scraping some paint off of a metal door. The paint was peeling and I would have used a putty knife and wire brushes. With oscillating tool, I did the job in about 1/4 of the time. The last project was to remove grout from some ceramic tile. I have dreaded doing this for years. With the grout removing attachment, it did the job in no time. After now seeing and using the tool, I would highly recommend it.
[Rewarded Review] Conflicted review
I rated this tool 5 stars because it is everything you'd expect from a Dewalt 20vMax Oscillating tool: powerful, comfortable, compatible with industry standard accessories. However I do not recommend the oscillating multi-tool for general use. First of all the blades are incredibly expensive. I can get a full complement of jigsaw and recip saw blades for the cost of one Oscillating multi-tool blade. Secondly, the blades do not last long. I bought this to help minimize damage when deconstructing pallets. The thin blade and minimal action did cut through nails without marring the boards. But I found that after cutting two nails, the center of the blade was wiped out - dull, no teeth left. For my intended use this simply is not cost effective.
HEAVY DUTY with a 6.0AH Flexvolt battery!!!!!
Picked this up today for $129.00!!!.....tool only is $135.00 so very happy with that.
