This thing sucks!

I love this unit. I’ve added it to my battery arsenal of tools as an independent contractor. Had an oopsie drilling into a stud for cabinets on a job site and sunk a 2-1/2” washer head screw into the plumbing cause the plumber didn’t install it right. Anyways, flooded the bathroom and I shut the water off. Used this vacuum to suck all the water out. Phenomenal power and made the floor spotless. 2 gallons capacity did just fine but I wish they had a bigger capacity. Sucks dry and wet just fine!

Lightweight and Powerful. Purchased this vacuum to replace an old, corded model of similar size. What a difference! It’s easy to carry in one hand while vacuuming odd corners and crevices with the other. Unlike cordless handheld vacuums I’ve used in the past, this one has plenty of power.

DeWalt Misses the mark

I own many DeWalt 20V Max tools and had high expectations for this shop vac. Concept is great, however, the suction on a fully charged 5amp battery is poor. Had it hooked up to a 12" Compound Miter and it barely captured the sawdust. Very disappointed at the suction power. Power needs to be increased.

Handy

Nice to have a portable wet-dry vac. Very portable with on-board tools and lightweight. Would label the suction only adequate, not great. The bin has an inward curving lip that requires shaking it to empty it completely. I use it to clean up sawdust and other debris from repairs and to touch up the car interior.

So being a yellow guy and not a red guy, I needed a portable vac for cleaning up after myself. An upright vac is what I was looking for but yellow doesn't make such a thing so I settled on this vac. It's got pretty good suction and works well not draining the battery very fast. Being empty it's pretty light so when your on your knees vacuuming, you kinda pull it around with you but it falls over easy and the ball inside cuts off the suction so stuff doesn't spill out. I know, I should just pay more attention to it so this doesn't happen but I didn't. Works as it should and does all that I ask of it.

Is This a Joke?!

I purchased this vacuum yesterday to clean a grout replacement job. When I turned it on, I thought there was something blocking the suction. I opened the container, checked the hose input, nothing. This vacuum couldn’t even suck the grout dust from the cracks between the tiles! I’m using a DeWalt oscillating tool, and the vacuum couldn’t even suck the dust off of its own tool! I’m having a difficult time trying to understand how a tool company could make a “shop” vacuum with NO suction power! For $160? I could’ve bought a different brand, but I am familiar with DeWalt and expected a quality product. Terribly disappointing!

Great portable unit. Excellent for spot clean ups, stairs, and vehicles. A little bit bulky, but still serves the purpose well. If you want something more portable, I would go with the smaller unit. Good suction, not great. The only downside. Still beats dragging out extention cords!

Dewalt Cordless power tools are fantastic in every way IMO this 20Volt Cordless Vac is no exception. It helps us keep the job site clean especially when we are doing an interior remodel we’re making dust inside an occupied home. Even on the new builds we do, I use this portable cordless vacuum instead of our bigger Dewalt Wet/Dry Vac specifically for that reason—because it’s cordless and so portable. So I’m not dragging a bulky, corded vacuum all thru a house!! This 20 Volt vac is powerful enough to pick up the big gauge nails screws wet messes that are inevitable on job sites. And when it’s full I just take it and dump it, give the filter a couple of bangs to get the saw dust Sheetrock dust out of it, pop the top back on the bottom with a click of the latch on each side boom—you’re back in business!! Dewalt has literally made it as simple as it could possibly be! I give the Dewalt 20V Wet/Dry Vacuum a 10 out of 10

This vacuum misses the mark. I’m an admitted DeWalt fanboy and have a shop full of their tools both corded and battery operated but this vacuum doesn’t suck well. The only plus is that it’s portable and it’s a wet vac but that’s about it. It’s definitely not pulling much out of the floorboard of my truck. I definitely wouldn’t purchase this again.

Great Idea that's it

Love the size and cordless that's it. Dewalt I buy a lot of your tools you. Must go back to the drawing board and start over on this one. First off way under powered would not pull dust from small hand tool. Second hose does fit new tools I just bought. How can you make a tool that is supposed to complement and work with other tools and the hose does not fit. So you must buy DWV9000 adapter from outside source because none of the big box stores have them. You would think that vacuum would come with an adapter. On this item total let down all the way around. It may be fine for just picking up dust out of the corner, will not work on small projects like cutting or drilling to cut down on or keep job dust free when working with small hand tools.

junk

I read all the reviews, and many said just quits. I should have returned after very first use. This vacuum is very loud compared to the Milwaukee battery vacuum. This has very little suction. I only vacuum dust on steps, rarely use it, today again vacuuming dust, it just quit. Fully charged 4amp battery, just quit.

Pretty low suction

It's fine for light debris and dust on a quick job when the big shop vac would be cumbersome and overkill. But that's really it. If you want to get any performance out of it, you have to use the crevice tool, which means you won't be covering any wide areas with this thing. It has a very specific use. I would say it's just to be expected from a cordless vacuum, but other brands seem to have done it way better. This thing has been on the market for years. It's time for dewalt to admit failure and try again on a battery vacuum.

Small but mighty

It is sounds silly to own three shop vacs but they each do the job they were designed for. This is not as powerful or as big as some of my other ones. But, is it easy to use, Easy to carry, Easy to transport and has plenty of power for everyday life. If you are a home owner and just needed something to use everyday, this one it it. I also like that is woks with all the new DeWalt batteries. 60V and 20V. I purchased the vacuum with no batteries because I already had some for my other tools.

Somewhat disappointing power. OK for most jobs but not impressive. Battery life seems short for the size, weight and cost of the 5AH battery. Unit with battery is heavier than I’d expected. Price for replacement filter seems bit steep as well. Worth having, but just average, overall. Underwhelming, compared to my several other DeWalt tools.

Subpar for Dewalt - It's okay not great.

Let me preface this with the fact that I am a massive Dewalt fanboy, I have almost every cordless tool they offer including the heavy duty 54V/60V 12A ranges. Since I'm so high on their products I didn't even look into the specifics of this vacuum and just bought it since no Dewalt tool has let me down. The pros first: - Good suction - Extremely portable - Cleaning and Maintenance is very easy, all components pull apart and since it's a Wet/Dry vacuum you can rinse the filter under high pressure water. The cons: - The biggest design flaw is the fact that the blower hole is on the same side as where the suction hose comes out. This means that if you're cleaning a table the blower hole can just blow everything around, it's really annoying. - Combined with point 1, the hose is far too short. Since you have to angle the blower hole away from where you're working the hose can only stretch less than half a meter, if the hose was double the size it would help immensely. - Whilst the majority of the filter is relatively easy to clean the edges at the top and bottom of the teeth design are impossible to clean even with high pressure water. Outside of cleaning it out with a toothpick there's no way to remove the build up over time which eats away at the pressure. If you could pop the caps off the filter and just remove the debris that would be awesome. Overall I don't think it's great value for the $300 price tag but since I have the entire line and multiple batteries I do admit it's very convenient to give the workshop benches a quick clean by just chucking in a battery. Being dewalt I'm sure the next model will probably fix a lot of these issues. The takeaway is for $300 you could probably just get another vacuum cheaper to do the same job, the difference in price is for the battery and compact nature of the vacuum. I chose to keep mine rather than return it but I don't feel like it was a great purchase when compared to any other of the dewalt tools I have.

I wanted a DeWalt wet dry vac for around the house. I did not want a large garage size unit, because I wanted to make it easy to grab for a quick clean-up: most particularly for when my cat vomits on the carpet. The two gallon Max Cordless does not provide a lot of suction, however. It will work fine for small, dry debris. I dropped the second star for the noise level of the vacuum. For so much noise you'd think it would provide much more suction. Still, it's a gorgeous and relatively light design. The two attachments neatly store on the unit unobtrusively. The switch is placed in an awkward position. It would be better up on the handle where you could turn it on or off with your thumb. I like that it accepts at least two kinds of DeWalt batteries. The price, for not coming with a battery, seems steep. I later bought the 10 gallon DeWalt garage wet/dry vacuum for one third less the price I paid for this 2 gallon cordless. If I had to buy another one, I would look at the other DeWalt version of the same vacuum that can either be powered by the house current or the battery. But this would make it heavier.

Great little vacuum with some caveats

When I first received this unit and started using to pick up fine dust created from sanding a cabinet I'm building, the battery probably didn't last more than 20 minutes. I was SO disappointed I was ready to return it but wanted to give another battery a try. What I noticed and glad is that if the vacuum is doing more work in suction but the filter is clogged it does seem to really shorten the battery life. Lately I've been picking up saw dust and other items and seems like the battery is actually running well.
