Roller assembly only lasts two years

I must replace the roller assembly for the 2nd time since 2020. The root problem is that the assembly uses a cheap carbon steel bearing that is wholly unsuitable for the application. I'm holding it up in the picture with a magnet. It is rusted solid. This is a shame because every other part is high quality. Despite Dreamline incorrectly saying there were no user-serviceable parts in the assembly, my fix is to replace each of the two 6902-2RS $1.25 bearings with $15 stainless steel ones.

Mirage-X frameless shower door failure

We purchased our Mirage-X frameless sliding shower door and had it professionally installed by a licensed contractor. We had inspected the doors prior to install and there were no cracks or visible failures in the glass. The shower was in use for three months, with normal use and no issues. Then, all of a sudden, with no warning, the stationary door failed and completely fell apart (sounded like an explosion), damaging numerous floor tiles that we'd had recently installed. Extremely disappointed.

Shower door ok but LEAKS

The shower door has been fine. The problem is it comes with the plastic pieces to prevent leaks and you can’t replace those because they aren’t universal pieces and so they don’t sell them somewhere else. Now that ours are yellowing/old our shower door leaks, and we’re unable to fix it. Incredible frustrating.

Difficult to Clean

The Dreamline SHDR-1960723R Mirage shower door is very heavy and good quality. It has a stationary panel and one sliding door. The door is adjustable from 56-60 inches. Our opening was 56" resulting in a 4" overlap between the sliding glass door and the stationary panel. The extremely heavy sliding door will need to be removed to clean this overlap in the glass. In retrospect I should have chosen a model with two sliding sides or a 56" door. The flexibility of the sizing is not beneficial in the long run.

Quality components and clear instructions

To start, the shower door package came in a very large, heavy box. That box contained three smaller boxes with extremely well-protected packing material. As I unpacked the the various components, I found that the hardware, brackets, etc were well-engineered and precision-machined, making fitting and adjustments precise. The instructions were very clear and surprisingly no parts were missing even though there were numerous parts, both large and small. having finished the installation, the sliding panel moves smoothly and quietly. Dreamline staff were accessible for questions. My only disappointment was that requesting custom width glass panels doubled the price from $1000 to $2000.

Took us some time, but it's DIY-able

Looks real nice! We spent a day of it removing the old frame and putting this up, 8am-4pm. Two trips to the store and lunch, too. Removing the old caulk was the most annoying part. Since we were replacing an old framed door with this, we just used grout to match and filled in the old screw holes.

Door looks great difficult to clean

This Door looks great--and it shows off your shower like none other. There are two draw backs. #1 Because both doors don't move there are 4-6 inches that over lap, therefore, are very difficult to clean and get spot free #2 because it does not have a frame around the entire door it feels a little unsecure--definitely would not put it in a shower children or teens would be using--On the upside it looks very nice--Pay attention to how you clean it -- you don't want to remove the clear max finish (or whatever it is called)

I love the Mirage-X. What attracted me to this shower door is the minimal metal framing. It's made possible with the 3/8" thick glass panel and sliding door. With clear glass panels, it allows my 5' X 6' shower/toilet room to appear bigger than would otherwise be possible. The door can be installed on the right or the left by reconfiguring the heavy upper L-bracket. The materials are top grade. The door panel slides smoothly and silently. It required ten holes to be drilled into my ceramic tile threshold and wall with a 5/16" diamond drill bit, so the 2 hour install suggestion was way off. The glass panels are about 80 lbs each so I needed help to transport and lift them. I recommend the Mirage-X.

High end hotel quality shower door!

Very nice, high quality shower door! It's nicer than I had anticipated and very heavy duty, like the quality that you would see in a high end hotel. The door rolls open and close very smoothly. It has lots of parts and my contractor and his carpenter were looking at all the parts like a couple of dogs eyeing a porcupine! They ended up calling our local glass company to install it and it's perfect. We normally go through the glass company, but they couldn't get any glass shower doors from their distributor for months, so we weren't taking away from them by buying it at overstock. I will definitely buy this again when we need one.

We’ve had this door for two years since we renovated our tub into a shower. We love everything about this door EXCEPT the part of the two glass sliders that overlap. The drip guard does not entirely keep water from dripping into this space (and after two years is just hanging on by a thread) and i have not been able to reach in there very well to clean. So you end up with ugly water stains in that section that are impossible to remove (I haven’t had any success). The rest of the door cleans easily if you squeegee after each shower and I use lemon juice and baking soda every couple months to get the stubborn stains off. If I bought again, I would get a door that opens out on a hinge.

Nice Doors!

Heavy, gorgeous glass. We had an issue installing because of the left (right side is door) bracket that holds the frame. It was larger than the surface we had to attach it to, due to patial wall on left. Hubby thought of creative fix, and added a stone corner shelf to give more surface area to attach. We added a matching shelf across from it. Make sure to totally read through the insructions twice before purchasing/attempting to install. This is NOT an option. Our contractor didn't and had to re-order parts. Once you understand the installation, very simple! Dreamline customer service was awesome! I do wish they would offer shorter support bracket(s - maybe would need 2) for people without flush openings. But doors themselves are clean, simple, gorgeous!

We purchased the home two years ago and the bathroom was updated. They installed barn door type shower doors, well too much weight on top and the door was a bear to open. This is a dream - moves with just the slightest touch. Looks so nice, so fresh and clean. We have the stainless steel and just beautiful. This door was 1400.00 less than the replacement door, I hope it will last for many years, the other was installed in 2015. We seriously should have replaced it back in 2017. One drawback is the overlap - kind of hard to clean, but will look at getting a mini blind cleaner as I believe it should squeeze in there for cleaning.

The shower door is absolutely amazing! I could not be more happy with it. I am a homeowner who does DIY as a hobby. So I researched it and it looked really good. I installed it all by myself which was surprisingly easy. And it looks and functions terrific now that it is in place. I have to say, of my entire bathroom remodel, this is my favorite feature. Specifically, the glass is thick enough that the door looks luxurious. The rollers work very well and the door moves smoothly. it has a very clean modern look to it. It is all well-made. Great door!

We love the look of this door and the quality is what you would hope to get when you spend this much on a shower door. The opening to get in and out of the shower is a little smaller than we would like, but it doesn't hinder our enjoyment of it. Where the door and glass panel overlap, is difficult to clean and is the only real complaint we have. The rubber seal on the back edge of the door doesn't seal up against the glass panel. If it did, it would help keep some of the water from getting behind it and on the panel. If it pressed against the panel it would also help wipe down the panel while you open the door to exit. Other than that small complaint we are still very glad we chose this door. It really made the new shower look even better.

A pretty, minimalist option, and great if you have only 1.5" of useable threshold space to work with. You just spent weeks installing your awesome shower, and now you have to drill holes into it that you can't undrill - measure twice, cut once. Be very careful installing this, there isn't a lot of room for error, and if you chip the glass, it must be replaced or you run the risk of it shattering at any time, according to the instructions! Yikes! Always use two people when dealing with the glass - and get a suction cup - invaluable. High quality, the action is amazing, doesn't distract from your pretty shower, admits plenty of light. Genius off center adjustment on the rollers compensates minimally to perfectly seal the door to the wall. The only drawback, and it's kind of a big one - you gotta squeegee, wipe and towel this thing after every use. The channel on the bottom rail inside the roller guide has no drainage anywhere except the milled edge opposite the door side, and will retain water (against your caulk!) when installed perfectly level. Seems like something a couple drainage holes or extra door-side milled area would solve, but doing it yourself will void the warranty. Still, it's beautiful and functional. I'm not gonna cry too much about it.

Overall great door with one critical flaw. The glass is solid and provides a satisfying bass rumble as its moving making you feel like you have a quality product. The semi-frameless design also provides a tremendous advantage in that there's nothing to hit your head on when entering/exiting the shower.

Very heavy glass looks great and functions well. Very high quality. Installed myself, but am very experienced. Does take two people to carefully move and position glass panel and door, but that is the only two times it takes two people. 99% of the work you can do yourself. Laser level helped getting perfectly plum and you should have experience or plan to drill through tile. If you have porcelain tile, you will need a diamond drill bit. I worked hard while installing the wall tile to make certain it was square and plumb with square corners at the bottom. If the opening is not square and plumb, you may not have a good installation, especially where the door closes to the wall. If your shower head is on the fixed panel side, you probably need a rain can type shower head or you could have problems with water spraying through the seal. I used a rain can head and it works well with no leaking.

Sleek, shiny, and fantastic shower door!

We recently had our small, first floor bathroom remodeled. Our primary goal was to enlarge the shower which was not much wider than my husband's shoulders. Once we had the size of the shower pan pinned down, I was off on my quest to find the perfect frameless shower door. Since our house was built in 1926, I wanted a door with an out of plumb adjustment. We also needed a slider because we don't have clearance for a door that swings open. I found this one and my contractor verified it would work. It was love at first sight for me and I couldn't be happier! The glass is beautiful (and heavy); the door slides very easily and my contractor said it's the easiest installation he's ever had for a shower door. It took him less than an hour and he's going to be ordering one for a bathroom at his house!

Good quality materials that look good installed. One note on installation, it tells you to caulk after installing the bumpers mounted to the wall which make it tough to get a good caulk seal. Caulk before you install the lower bumper. Have had some leakage there and had to pull the lower bumper back off and caulk it.

We purchased this door in February 2018. It worked as any glass door should work, with the added bonus it was very heavy and seemed to be a quality piece. Our door was contractor installed and we were very satisfied with the installation. Door opened smoothly, looked incredible (love the frameless) and we were of the mind it was a great purchase.
