Long Life Construction it is not
The description of this unit uses the term "Long Life Construction" at least two times. And, yes, the warranty is Limited LIFETIME. Well don't believe either. Mine rusted less than three years later and is destined to fail. I contacted Homewerks about the "Lifetime Warranty" only to find out it does not cover rust and I was pointed to another model that does. C'mon, Homewerks, let's be a little more transparent.
A simple complete kit for outdoor showers.
It was the exact product I currently had. So it took minimal effort to replace it.
Has everything need with threded hot and cold.
Great for an outside shower. I visited a friend who lived on a lake and had a outside shower. I really liked it, so when I found this one i was excited and the price didn't cost me a fortune. Easy to install on an outside wall and it looks like it belongs that way, not like my friends who looks like someone forgot to cover the wall. It has a Good chrome finish and nice shut of valves.
This a simple good one
This is a classic outdoor type they used at the national park when I was a kid. Very durable and long lasting when installed with good drains for winter. I'm happy to find it. Easy to install.
Shower Riser will rust!
I bought several of these shower kits for interior use in a multi unit apartment building. All of the shower risers rusted from the inside and/or outside in less than a year. I purchased these shower kits from Homewerks' website before they became available at Lowes. Homewerks was notified of the rusting problem and refused to give a refund. If you're going to use a kit like this, make sure the riser is galvanized.
Price is fair compared to others.
No leak so far. Works fine and priced fairly compared to others. Now the test of time.
Rusts quickly
i have this in my basement shower, I purchased it 1 year and 3 months ago, installed less than a year ago. Hardly ever use, the center pipe that leads to the shower head is massively rusted, so much so that I can't even replace that pipe I'm goin to have to replace the whole thing.
Absolute Garbage
I don't know where to begin... poor metal casting, if they claim stainless steel its not. Made in Taiwan...typical.
Leaks
Bought first on at lowes and it leaked from the bottom and had a countinous drip. tried differnt things to fixed nothing worked. Went and got another one due to the set up already for that model bottom didnt leak but leaks around the arm used plumber tape on everything this leak is only when water is turned on and not bad so can live with it for now.
Not corrosion resistant
Purchased for use for an out door shower. Item is marked indoor/outdoor. After 3 months it started corroding on the exterior and the interior of the shower arm. Company sent a complimentary replacement arm in corrosion resistant. I have installed it and will see if it lasts.
Spend more and get a better one.
I had a similar one that rusted. This one was made cheap. You can't tighten the top or it will break.
Leaks
Needed to replace one installed by contractor because the housing cracked due to freezing. Was easy to install to original water lines but it has to be assembled. Connections leaked after installation even with plumbers tape. Needed to reinstall but still has small leak where shower neck screws into water valve.
Installing with feeds down
This is a decent shower kit but the instructions say you can install it with the hot and cold feeds facing down or up. But when you have the feeds facing down the shower arm threads in and blocks the ports supplying the water to the shower arm. So it can really only be installed with the supplies coming from the top.
Junk
Valve base is solid, but valves leak out of the box, valve bodies don't seat correctly no matter how much they are tightened. Maybe a got a bad one, but I guess one gets what they pay for.
Great Plumbing Fixture
Perfect plumbing fixture for an outdoor shower. Well made and able to configure in various arrangements to fit your needs. Am so glad I found this fixture.
Don't buy.
Had to replace after a couple of days, water hook up from the bottom. Hot water dribbles out, defective. They now build them with water hook up from the top. Outdated defective crap.
almost a perfect fit for my old utility shower
replaced an original install utility shower that was badly rusted with this one. Fit was almost perfect except for the hole height for the valve header (only 3/8" off!). I installed a glacier bay handheld shower assembly which increased the height about 6-7 inches so most of us under 6 feet tall can easily shower without having to bend over. Ideally, the manufacturer could have provided another option for a taller shower arm to prevent the need for a handheld unit, but this was an easy accomodation. Before and after pics attached. Time will tell how long it lasts.
Solidly Built
I got this to use to rinse off outside. I was impressed with how solid the shower head pipe was and the flexibility of having the valve body tapped on both top and bottom to add to the flexibility of installation. Inlet pipes can be run from top or bottom by inverting valve body and reversing supplied plug. Shower head is basic, plastic, but functional and can easily be replaced or substituted with any standard 1/2" head. Soap dish is designed to also act as pipe support, so if you don't plan on using it, you will have to get an additional pipe clamp. Soap dish is a bit small and not very deep, with only about 3/16" lip, so it won't hold a very big bar. It also lacks a bushing in the pipe feed-through hole which could be easily added. Handles are quarter turn so they are easy to use but can be a little tricky it you want to precisely regulate the temperature; not big concerns for most outdoor uses. Installation instructions were easy to follow, however I did notice some errors in the Replacement Parts List where the descriptions didn't match the diagram numbers. Mounting screws are marginal, but easy to select your own for mounting on different surfaces.
Good product
Good product overall. Water Pressure is OK, looks OK, easy to install. I did add another support for the shower head just because I think it needs one especially if you're going to be hanging wet suits/towels on it (it makes me feel better). It was fairly reasonably priced. The fact that it is for an outside shower, I think, means a lot (rust resistant). That is the application I used it for and it serves the purpose for which it was intended.
Didn’t fit my need but not bad
I got this shower to replace an outdoor shower I already had. Overall all the quality seems pretty good, hot and cold handles are very sturdy and move smoothly. Distance between the handles and shower head was not ideal for replacing my existing shower as it made the shower head too low. At least, in my hands that is how it worked out. Despite my issues I would recommend it IF you are creating a shower where there was none before.
