This is my second unit - the first one lasted about a year and a half.

The unit was missing the electrical grounding bar shown in the manual and on the website. Customer Service did not respond to my questions about this and I see online that many others have had this issue. My installer had to install one bought locally and we hope that it does not void the warranty but since they didn't respond to us, we don't know. Also water connections and electrical connection are in a straight line parallel to each other causing extra fittings to be used if electrical panel is to the right of the unit instead of to the left. Poor design and assembly, I would not recommend.

Limited lifetime warranty must mean no warranty

They warranty everything but it not working. You mail in warranty and they tell you it was never registered. Good scam easy money sale inferior product with bogus warranty.

After going through two common water heaters, the EcoSmart was our best decision ever. Love the quick hot water. Only heats what you use. I'll never go back to old style water heaters again. The EcoSmart saves so much room. Gave us more storage room. Highly recommend it.

Burst after 10 months

This was my sixth unit and it too failed within one year of installation. We’ve gone through six of them due to failures and having to keep with the same model for replacements. Previous replacements had issues with the heating elements or temp sensors going out but this time the heating element separated from its threaded cap. We woke up to find 2 inches of water in our bathroom and closet, along with drywall damage because the heater was located in the attic. After thousands of dollars worth of damage, it wasn’t worth it to exchange this unit for another one of its kind. I instead purchased a Rheem heater, and to my dismay it is identical internally, down to the same exact part numbers. Eco-smart warranty is nonexistent, so don’t plan on the manufacture helping you out. If you have already purchased this unit, it is in your best interest to establish some sort of extended warranty or home appliance warranty, this unit will fail it’s just a matter of when. I would also recommend installing an aluminum drain pan designed for tankless heaters, you can order from Home Depot for about $60.

ECO 11

I have gone through two of these in less than 3 years, I purchased the second one in March 2019, and it just gave up (May 2020). I will put a claim under warranty and see what happens.

Great tankless unit.

Wonderful product. With being in a Southern climate this unit is more than adequate for a 3 bedroom 2 bath home. Wife a I can both take showers at the same time with no issues. Unit is simple to install and operate. With settings up to 140 degrees have it set at 115 and more than hot water. The compact size is fantastic.

Seems to be working as it should,a little more expensive to install then a tank type but should be worth it in long run.Saves much space that I moved location from my crawl space to 1st floor where it is easier to get at and maintain.

Excellent Tankless Water Heater

This is a great takless watee heater. We previously had a cheaper model/brand in our home and it was nothing but problems. After research and talking to various people, this was highly recommended

I'm very satisfied with this hot water system. It takes a few moments for hot water to reach it's destination, the further from the unit, the longer the wait. But not more than a minute or two. I have a 1650 sq ft, one story house. Water temperature is very easy to adjust. I find 120 degrees is hot enough for my needs.

Powerful Unit

I got tired of running out of hot water after one person took a shower. Decided to go for a tankless because of the unlimited hot water, space saving, and electric bill savings. I can tell you that I am not disappointed! After installation my two kids and wife took long baths before I got in to the shower. The water was extremely hot and I only had the hot water faucet turned up half way (mind you, I do NOT have the tankless set to its highest temp. setting). It was recently installed so I haven't been able to tell how it has impacted my electric bill. Cons: With the unit itself, no complaints. However, to install the unit you need to make sure that you can supply it with the power it needs (three 40 amp, double pull breakers). Before purchasing make sure that you have enough room in your electrical panel to accommodate all of the breakers. I ended up installing everything myself because I received quotes from electricians in my area (Miami, FL) for around $1,500 - $2,000 to do the work (electrical only) in my townhouse. They said if it were a single family house the job would be a lot cheaper, so take that into consideration.
