[Rewarded Review] Good coop

Relatively simple assembly, although some screws should be longer

The rods dont stay up and the auto door stopped working with the solar panel after the first freeze then the control stopped working after the 3rd day of it being cold(in the 30s).

All around quagmire

Not what was expected, due to my own self(mostly). Took 2 tries to get one that wasn’t damaged; 2nd one was also damaged but could easily repair. However being 3 wks. agoI still have the initial coop boxed up outside on my porch! 2large boxes; as I have NOT received the return label for pickup. All in all a quagmire. Ok sized coop. Need more area than dimensions given; one side tray slides out for cleaning, and the other side are the nesting boxes so you need about an extra 3 feet. So it did not fit where I was intending it to go that presented a problem in itself.

Automatic door is horrible, smaller than I thought

The coop itself is decent. My chickens don't care for it and lay in the older coop. I've attached a 6x6 screen in area where they like to roost at night in. The part that I hate is the automatic door that comes with it. Looks good but acts up all the time even on full charge. I'm a consistent person and hate when you buy something and not even 2 months go by and it doesn't work half the time. Buyer beware.

I only got one box. No one was even aware there were multiple boxes, but the one box didn’t have any assembly instructions or hardware, much less enough pieces for the entire coop. We are returning it.

Cheap product that isn’t well made

It is not big enough for 6-8 chicken. Maybe 3 bantam chickens tops. It is to small to brood 6-8 chicks. It is poorly made. It is from China. Home Depot should be ashamed of themselves for selling it.

Don't waste your time or hard earned money!

Way too small and very poorly made.

Overall it’s a decent coop of you need to just get one going. If we had more time we would have built one ourselves. But you will need to reinforce some things. You’ll need to caulk almost everything because there’s a lot of openings so not super weather tight. We added metal flashing to the roof seams so it doesn’t leak. And we used our own screws that won’t rust or deteriorate with time/weather. The automatic door had a cracked screen so it’s not easy to read and we had to replace the battery even though it was brand new. But it works (shrug). We also replaced the roosting bars with boards that the birds feet can actually be flat on. So overall… it’s something, but again, if we had more time it would have cost about the same to build our own and possibly better off doing that.

The coop looks good in pictures, but there is no way it would last outside in the elements with the lack of quality. Many parts came broke out of the box, or I could see where they had been repaired. Not for me. I went back and bought some lumber and built my own.

It came together easily enough, but the decorative piece split when drilling it and we had to glue it back together, the windows are clear vinyl which wasn’t expected either. The trim is a light gray and in the pictures it looked white. The paint isn’t coated very thick so will probably have to paint it again in the fall. But it works fine for our 5 chickens, probably wouldn’t do 6-8 like it says

Small. Good for 4 chickens max. Handles need to be longer and lower to be able to get the nesting box support off the ground and out of the grass. Good for temporary start up for chickens but definitely not a long time coop.

The quality is questionable, the wood is thin and breaks easily, some of the pieces came already cracked. The only reason it gets even 2 stars is because assembly was relatively easy.

Good Coop Option

This chicken coop is pretty good quality for the size and price. It's a good option for 6 full size chickens but you could probably fit 8 bantams. My husband was able to assemble by himself.

Damaged

Received damaged straight out of the box. We reordered but time will tell how well the quality is...not looking so great so far.
