Counterfeit XWFE

While packaging looks genuine, this filter is a knockoff that does not contain rhe RFID chip required for a true XWFE to function properly. The filter itself is also missing rhe serial and quality inspection marks of a true GE XWFE.

Expensive filter

I'll be installing the bypass in lue of the $55 filter. I already have a whole hole 3 step filter. It's actually better than this over priced unit.

Genuine part, missing the RFID tag to tell the fridge that its a genuine part... Fridge won't dispense water... First printers, now fridges. Awesome.

XWFE filter La contains information.

This filter cannot be replaced with a knock-off. The inside of the label contains a RDF or something like that which pairs with the refrigerator.

Disappointing

Purchased 2 replacement xwfe filters, water tasted fine until we changed original filter. New filter has plastic taste after running gallons thru it, tried 2nd filter, same thing. Disappointing. Gonna buy cheaper xwf filter and carefully peel rfid off xwfe and try that. Last GE appliance I buy.

No issues.

So far so good. It was pretty easy to install - after relaxing and slowly finding the exact grooves to match with the arrow. I was concern after reading some of the reviews that stated that they had some issues. Thankfully - I did not. Appreciate you GE if you worked them out! :)

Two didn’t work

I had two as back ups so when it came time to replace I’d be ready. After trying both of them, the water wouldn’t dispense so I put the old one back in and the water worked. What to do??? What an expense for them to not work !!!

XWF filter with fake label! Don't buy!!

Knock off product! It's a xwf filter with a fake label. XWFE filter has a microchip in it for the fridge to recognize. This filter will fit, but give you an error on the fridge panel and not dispense water. Don't buy from this seller.

Over priced compared to others they sell.

If I knew much this water filter was that came with this model GE refrigerator …. I would’ve never bought it. They have to make modle that’s affordable and lasts more then 2 months

I installed my new filter

I installed my new filter on October 7, 2024 and ran 2 gallons of water as instructed. Today is October 28, 2024, I still have to change my filter since on several occasions, there is a small black trickle in the water (probably carbon...). Disappointing for a new and expensive filter for about 20 days of use

Lowe’s appliances SUCK!!!!

The refrigerator we bought is the biggest piece of junk that we have ever purchased from Lowe’s. We can’t wait for the 3 year warranty we purchased to expire and we are delivering the piece of junk back to Lowe’s in NMB.

Water filter

I am very happy with the water filter for my refrigerator, however, I always struggle with the price due to being on such a limited fixed income, and with my health concerns, I have had to drop my secondary insurance to Medicare to be able to order extra essentials such as this. A buy one get one free would be nice from time to time.

Do not buy GE refrigerator filters from Lowes

had dark specs in water after flushing the water as directed and returned it but the one that I bought and followed the instructions again for the second time has again black specs in it? Do not think I will buy my GE filters from Lowes anymore. So sad!

It’s a simple water filter with an expensive chip.

There’s a bunch of almost identical water filters for sale (XWF) for cheap, but the newer appliances can’t use them. They fit perfectly but they don’t work. You have to buy GEs (XWFE) and the “E” stands for “Expensive”! Unfortunately the E in the one I bought also stands for “Error” because I bought the new filter and my fridge still doesn’t like it. I wish they’d dial back the unnecessary technology and use simple reliable cost efficient water filters.

Filter Grate Added - ERR message

You added a grate to the end of the filter which is no longer compatible! The product is defective - others are complaining on here but you keep selling a defective product and there’s no filter replacement. Not an install issue - it’s a GE issue. Please escalate to product team. This clearly was not quality assurance tested.

Check the placement of the filter openings before.

The label on the filter was placed wrong. The alignment arrow on the filter was rotated 180 degrees making it impossible to install it that position. It did install when rotated.

I never got the filter, called best buy and Shippt and went to the store, I didn’t get the money back. Also I lost my coupon. For more than a month….

Be wary - bad filter

Bought a replacement filter directly from GE. Shipping was slow and took a couple of weeks. I installed as soon as i got it and was very disappointed to find that my water tasted worst with the new filter, even after many gallons and days of use. I called GE directly and told them hoping they would stand behind their product and ship me a replacement for what seems to be a faulty or used filter I received. They gave me the run around and did not offer to ship me a new one because I live in an apartment and the lady could not pull up my fridge warranty under my name.

Inconsistent

I purchased a replacement filter when I got the new refrigerator. Just to have one on hand not knowing how long they lasted. We drink a lot of water. The unit will not accept the replacement and returns an error code. I could understand that if it was a knockoff but this was purchased directly from the manufacturer.

Water tastes horrible

I came on here to see if anyone else has had the "bad water taste" experience.... and I see they have. I've never bought name-brand water filters, but this time I thought I would give it a try. Nope. The water has a metallic taste, different from the weird tap water taste.
