For install purposes and features , the rating applies. Have no experience with a surge yet. Back wiring is very handy and the unit will just fit in a standard box. Remember the surge protector provides full protection only to that receptacle. None for upstream and much less for downstream connected outlets.

Great device. Wish it was cheaper

This is a really nice receptacle. Definitely need a deep box to support it, especially if pigtailing. It barely fits in my metal box since the box is too narrow, but some electrical tape protects the hot terminals from every arcing when energized.

Although the line-in and load-line posts on my new purchased Leviton GFCI outlet were clearly marked, they were reversed compared to my old failed Leviton GFCI outlet…such was determined after installing the line-in and load-line wires on the new one exactly as they were on the old failed Leviton GFCI outlet. Fully functional after corrected posts reversals were made. Highlight reversal.

No wall plate included

Beware the product description. The fourth bullet says that a single gang wall plate is included. I just picked this up curbside and got home to open the bag. The unit I was given has no face plate included. Now I need to make another trip back to Home Depot to get a face plate to complete the install. The box says to use this with a Decora wall plate or Decora plus screwless wall plate which is sold separately.

Great option for protecting sensitive devices. In addition it happens to be the only commercial grade TR decora outlet you can buy off the shelf in the store. Expenisve path if you dont need the surge but better than dealing with residential grade.

The surge protection outlet was fairly easy to install. I only prefer to have screw retention clips on both mounting screws when assembling the device to the box especially for the extremely minimal cost adjustment.

Seems like a quality product. Installation was normal and it works fine. The only downfall and I did not realize it when I bought it is that it's a one time use protection. If it protects your electronics from a surge you have to replace the outlet.

Installing this product is made very difficult by the design of the wire mounting screws. They thread into a loosely held internal nut so that the screw doesn't back out and stay. This makes it extremely challenging to land the romex under the screw. Time will only reveal if the surge protection works as promised. I used this on a dishwasher replacement in concert with a breaker panel GFCI to protect against shocks and added this surge protector to hopefully prevent surge damage to the dishwashers control electronics. I now have surge protection installed on all my appliances as they all have delicate and expensive electronic control boards.

Great update/upgrade

I was updating my switches and outlets to white, when I came across this surge suppressor outlet. Thought I would give it a try. It installed like the old outlet, but does take up more room in the box. I like to think it will give some protection to the electronic devices plugged into it and figured it couldn't hurt to try.

Good receptacle for behind a wall mounted device

I have an outlet behind an wall mounted TV. I wanted the TV surge protected but didn't want to use a surge protector strip. I found this Leviton receptacle for my needs. Easy to install - power off, remove face plate, outlet and reinstall. LED light is nice to know its working but not useful when outlet is hidden behind the TV.
