Don’t order on line
Ordering on the Coleman web site is a horrible experance
Morning Dew Leaked Right Through!
Received this tent last week and used it in a trip over the weekend. Very spacious. Not the easiest for one person to set up if I’m being honest, but I’m fine with that.
Durability - not upto to the price/expectations
I got this 4 person vestibule tent for my camping experience and when I tried setting up the tent the hook that holds in the top was already broken and I noticed this during my tent setup only. That was very disappointing as this is priced this much and I expected the quality to be the same as it’s priced . Not satisfied with the product.
Great, but Can't Find Replacement Pole for Vestibu
I loved this tent. However, after having it for only a year I no longer have the Vestibule pole and can't find the replacement. Spoke with/emailed support and was told which to buy to replace it. The replacement did not work.
tent great, rainfly not so great
The tent is well designed. It sets up quickly and easily. Both of the 2 cross poles are permanently anchored to a corner, so it can be set up by one person. The rainfly is a terrible design. It is bulky and not quick to set up. No instructions are included and I am glad I set it up first at home because I had to go to the Coleman site to see how to set up the rainfly. The fly has numerous guy lines which must be used and makes the footprint of the tent excessive. And easily tripped over. I live in the western US where flat space is often at a premium and rocks or hard soil prevent using stakes. This tent would be excellent if the rainfly were redesigned to just cover the tent and clip to the tent corners. I would not recommend this tent although I am keeping it.
Stay Dry Under the Fly
Best waterproof floor available and being from the PNW the full fly is perfect!
WET!
This review is for the four person model. A fairly easy tent to set up by yourself but quite difficult to put away. Most importantly tent and fly leak. Rain was not all that heavy but water was steadily dripping to the floor in a few areas. I had expected much better.
Nice quality, but too much mesh for my needs
The tent was nicely made, but - even though the description mentions a mesh back wall – I was surprised that so much of the tent was mesh, too much for my needs. Even with fly securely in place, I felt that cold air would find its way into the tent in cooler temps; it’s just not the same as solid fabric. I had a couple of questions and the people at Coleman/Newell were very nice and helpful, but I was disappointed that the company offers no assistance with a return label/shipping. Before I ordered, I checked that returns were possible (60 days), but I didn’t read far enough to notice that I would have to bear the full cost to return if it didn’t work out. It cost $30 to send back! I know it’s a heavy item, and I would expect to pay at least some of that, but I now am out $30 and have nothing to show for it. Unfortunately, this will prevent me from shopping on Coleman’s site in the future, which is too bad, because my family and I have been big fans for years, own lots of Coleman stuff. Just can’t risk it if things don’t work out. $30 was a lot to spend. : (
Returned
We returned the tent when we realized it has fiberglass poles instead of aluminum.
Easy Set Up Tent
Great Tent, easy for one person to set up in only a few minutes.
Did not withstand 15mph wind.
It was our first weekend camping with this tent. The first night everything went fine. It was easy to set up and tear down. The second night was not fine. We had gusts of wind up to 15mph, and one of the tent poles bent to the point of where it broke. I would recommend this tent as long as you do not plan on sleeping where there may be any wind.
The perfect tents
I'm very pleased with the quality of the tents and their construction. They are very user friendly and easy to set up.
Great little tent
I needed a tent that would hold up in the Pacific Northwest Peninsula area. Finally got to use it for the first time last weekend and it did not disappoint. It rained almost nonstop for two days, at some points there was some pretty hard downpours and heavy wind and it held up like a champ and remained dry the entire weekend. Highly recommend!
Too much screening
Too much screening and no way to cover. The entire back wall is screen almost all the way down the ground. It would be impossible to keep wind out along with the dirt and rain it could bring. Forget about keeping it warm. I wish it were easier to tell this before buying. Now I get to spend $50 to ship it back for a return.
Very nice tent
I really needed a tent that I could stand up in and would fit large air beds. This tent fits the bill. I have camped in the rain with no leaks
Pretty easy, spacious tent
I used this this tent on a 6 day in the woods camping event. It was longer than 5 minutes to set up solo (first time setting up). Heavy rains two days with just the rain fly...which held up pretty well with minimum dripping from the top. The vestibule worked great! There were puddles under the tent that did not leak through. Overall great tent! Looking forward to my next trip (will use a tarp overhead if expecting heavy rains.
It's not the sky dome, it the "wind event" tent.
Tent was all it was advertised as unril the storm, then it was a flat mess and now Coleman will not stand behind it.
Very Nice Tent, but A Few Cheap Spots
Really pleased with this tent! I haven't yet tested it in the rain, though I suspect, taking enough trips to the PNW, it won't be long until I can. Nonetheless, the about 7 nights I've had outside with it in the 6 weeks I've owned it, it's been great: spacious, fantastic view of the night sky when settling in for the night, and easy enough to set up. My chief complaint is that some components of the tent, namely where the poles attach to the canvas in the rear, are thin plastic which seems apt to fail before anything else. Coleman would do well to make these out of metal or find another way of attaching the poles, as this weak spot will get the tent in the bin sooner than anything else.
Solid tent
I put the tent to test a couple days after receiving it. First night rained a lot and the wind blew, but tent was dry and withstood the wind.
VERY Good Tent! Takes longer than 5 to build :-(
I had the opportunity to use this tent for the first time this weekend. i can report that it is a VERY good tent for rain! Weathered a strong hour long thunderstorm (amongst some trees) but stayed COMPLETELY dry. Vestibule was helpful keeping my gear dry, as long as gear is off the ground (my fault placing tent). Absolutely vouch being weather-proof. Yes, the TENT sets up in 5 minutes, but the very capable rainfly takes longer.... Piece of advice, close all doors and access BEFORE you stake the rainfly. Still a VERY GOOD Tent!
