Amazing tent!

Do you have fond family memories of fighting over tent assembly? Not anymore! I’ve put it up three times (43F) with my son (6) in our backyard. The first time took the longest obviously due to learning parts, reading instructions etc. 2nd & 3rd time literally took 5 minutes. The first two times I took it down before rain, but this last time I figured what the heck? Let’s find out what this thing is made of. It’s been rainy & extremely windy all day and she’s dry inside and in place (and truthfully I don’t have all ties done). I’ve never enjoyed a tent more & am excited to know we can go “real” camping and stay high and dry even during rough weather. One note- I did also have a clip break like the person who rated this tent 1 star for that reason but didn’t find it to be a big deal at all to tie it another way. Half of the enjoyment of camping and being outside is relying on creativity and ingenuity. I’m also betting Coleman would put a clip in the mail if it did bother me. Very minor issue for this very glorious tent. Do not hesitate to buy. If you’ve never bought a tent before, do consider your expectations for the amount of room inside I’m a lil on the claustrophobic side so for me, a 6 person tent is a 3 person tent If you like air mattresses wall to wall and no floor space it’ll fit 6 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

[Rewarded Review] Pleased with roominess and waterproofing

The extra room was a wise choice, I’m 6 feet tall and weigh 200 pounds, so it gave me room to move around a bit inside.

Coleman definitely makes some quality tents, and I’ve enjoyed several of them over the years. My most recent one is the Skydome six person tent, and overall I really enjoy it. It is a nice quality tent that is fairly easy to set up, and it has a great deal of headroom inside. I only have two complaints about it, one of which is that I wish that the rain fly did go all the way to the ground, and the other complaint is that I wish that it had more windows rather than just the window in the tent. Either way though, it’s still a great tent for car camping.

Tent has some nice features, but was just average.

I love the size and shape of this tent. It worked great for my family of 4 and a dog. It had plenty of room for two air mattresses. The dark room feature was also great. We were able to sleep in for the first time ever while camping. This tent also had some great inside storage features with a safe place to put all our phones. Now for the cons. Only having one window on the door made for poor air circulation inside the tent. It got pretty hot in there. It rained on our trip, and this tent was not waterproof. It leaked pretty bad through the seam connecting the tent body to the floor as well as through the tent wall itself. Also, whenever we would open the door all the water would poor right in due to where the rainfly stopped. I wish this tent had more of a vestibule over the door.

Great size, easy enough set up.

So, it was decently spacious to fit a queen sized air mattress, two people, two big dogs, and our bags, etc. I really enjoyed the two doors because it allowed for some great air flow.

The Coleman Skydome six person camping tent is a great and spacious tent if you are camping by yourself, or as a couple. There’s plenty of room inside for an inflatable mattress and all of your gear. Even though the rain fly only goes on some of the sides of the tent in the top, rather than all the way to the ground, it did really well when I was camping in a rainstorm. Everything inside stayed dry with no issues. Even though the version that I have is not the dark room tent, it’s really dark as it is inside because of the color of the rain fly. My only complaint is that the fly is on, the only exterior light you will get is through the screen on the door. It makes it a little dark inside, even during the day because of that.

Broke after one use

This was great the first time we took it out. On the second camping trip, we took it out of the bag and one of the necessary clips on the back leg that attaches the pole to the tent was broken. Why these important connectors are made of plastic is beyond me. Currently sitting in the tent with the rain fly off because it is windy and the corner pole is jerryrigged and we are just praying it will make it through a second night. Beyond disappointed at this expensive price point. Things shouldn't break after one use.

My husband thought this was a great starter tent. My 12 year old is in boyscouts and they camp out pretty often and he really enjoys the tent. For the 2 of them the tent is very comfortable. It does claim to be a 6 person tent but if you need room or have larger than average people this would be better for 3 or 4 max. They love that it's tall enough that he can walk around in, which is hard because he's 6 ft tall. It was pretty easy and quick to assemble with common sense, which is helpful because the directions attached to the bag were not very good. It didn't take long at all. Unfortunately due to the cold in the northeast we have not taken it outside to test the elements yet but i don't see it being a big problem. There are pouches inside to keep your items organized and a clip to attach a light to which he really loved too. Zips seamlessly and it does keep pretty dark which makes for better sleeping.

I was excited to receive and try out this tent, but unfortunately there hasn't been an opportunity to go on a camping trip. I did want to test this tent out somehow, so I set it up in my backyard. I can say that the setup was fairly quick and easy-much easier than tents I've setup in the past. This tent is also rather spacious. There will be plenty of room for people and dogs on a camping adventure. The dark room feature is nice as well. I think it will help filter out the sun quite nicely. Based on this experience, I would recommend this tent. I look forward to using it on an actual camping trip in the future.

I love this tent so far! I haven't taken it on the road yet but have camped in quite a few tents around the US in various degrees (from 36 degrees to 90). This tent was so easy to set up. The poles are pre-attached to two of the corners so you just have to unfold them and guide them in place on the top of the tent. The rain fly was also so easy! Our first try (there were two of us, but this could easily be done by one person) it took us about 5 minutes to set up (which is what the tent estimated). This beats setting up my old small two person tent by about 5 full minutes. The inside was very spacious and dark (see the photo!) It lived up true to it's name. I loved the inner pocket and hammock at the top of the tent to hold gear you want to quickly find (flashlight in the middle of the night). I also loved how it actually fit back into the bag it came in. Coleman put extra space in the bag so you don't struggle getting it back packed away. Overall the packed away size is still small and perfect for car camping! Highly recommend. This could definitely fit 6 as advertised!

We bought this tent a couple years ago on clearance to get ready for camping season. It has a separate screen room which works well for the dog to sleep in ,and it's spacious enough for 2 air mattresses to fit for a family of 5. Without mattresses, it probably could fit about 7-8 people. It's dark room technology works well and appears to be pretty weather resistant. Pretty user friendly setup, but it's better to have a few people help with setup. All in all it is a great tent and we can't wait to use it again. It is spacious enough for camping and keeps the light out well. Will buy more from this brand.

we took this tent out camping over this past weekend. it is very spacious, we had a queen size inflatable mattress in there with room to spare. it’s also quite tall, so my fiancé can stand upright in the middle. set up is super easy and fast. the poles are attached to the tent, making setting up and breaking down very quick. it was raining on our camping trip and the rain fly kept us dry, no leaking. it truly is incredibly dark in there with the rain fly on. its nice not having the sun blast you in the face as soon as it rises, and it’s good for keeping cool in the day. i do wish there was a window that could be opened on the rain fly, instead of having to take it completely on and off for sunlight. i also wish there were more interior pockets for storage. but in general, great tent for weekend trips!

We wanted a good tent for our trip we are taking in 2 months to Peru and Bolivia. We are taking a 10 day trip tru the Inca Trail! We tested this tent in our backyard. It says 5 minutes from the box, but it took us like 28 minutes to build. Comes with the ground stalks. They are metal. Some came out of the box a bit rusted? Inside is a good size, says 6, but I think it's more for 3 or 4 full grown adults with more moving room. Inside it is pitch dark! You need a hanging lantern, for the inside. It's very dark inside and that's perfect for sleeping during bright days. Like that it comes with a carrying bag, and the whole tent fits nicely inside. The only thing that concerns me, is the wind. There was a strong wind that passed, and it bended it down a bit. The winds in Peru and Bolivia can get bad, especially in the famous Inca Trail. I hope it will be okay. It didn't get very flat, but will have to try once we are over there. So far. I love the dark room feature! Pitch black! Easy to carry and once we get use to it. Guessing it will take us like 15 minutes. Can't wait to take this tent with us! Excited!

Always the best

I love my new tent. I had a smaller version already but I wanted one that I could stand in without need to bend over. This tent is perfect, plenty of headroom. Floor space enough to put a chair next to my air mattress. It was also fairly easy to set up even for its height. My friend who went camping with us had a knock off version of this tent from a major retail chain that was cheaper than my tent. At the beginning of our weekend he talked about how much money he saved and our tents were basically the same. Over the weekend his tent proceeded to self destruct and fall apart eventually totally collapsing under some medium strength wind. All the while my tent was great, 20 degrees cooler than the outside in the sun and durable enough that I will be able to use it for years to come. My friend will be buying a Coleman tent for next year.

Will not recomend

We got this tent for a trip this summer. We chose it amongst other tents and makes for the quality and durability Colemans are known. We have used other Colemans products before and in fact we are still using ones bought years ago and they are still holding. Unfortunately we had a big disappointment putting together this tent on a very light wind,( under 10 m.p.h) the tent bended and felt weak although this is advertised to withstand winds up to 35mph( IMPOSSIBLE). Members from from our camp. community suggested there is structurally something wrong with it, may be poles are too thin for that tent. Anyway, luckily we had a backup ten which we used for the rest of the trip. We have now ended up with a brand new tent worth £170, which will never leave our garage. VERY Disappointed

Great large tent for car camping as a couple

My wife and I bought this for just the two of us for car camping, have used it once and think it's great. We put a full size air mattress in there and still had plenty of room to stand, move around and change. I'm pictured inside the tent and am 5'10" for reference. Did a lot of looking around online, and in the end couldn't beat the price for this size of a tent. The dark room aspect was a huge bonus, though you have to have the rain fly on for that effect which does make the tent a little stuffy. Tried to use the guy lines on the rain fly to pull the fly slightly away from the sides of the tent to allow air movement, that worked pretty well. We neglected to put in the final pole at the front of the fly to give it the arch shown in the stock photo, but it came with it. Only critiques would be I would love for them to offer a footprint for this tent and the interior could have done with several more sewn in interior mesh pockets, I think it has just one set in one corner. It hasn't had to endure rain or heavy winds yet, so can't comment on those. Material and zipper seem quality and I hope they'll last a long time. Paid extra for two day shipping and that went perfectly too. Overall extremely pleased!

A solid family tent option, with some design flaws

Great family camping tent

this tent is a great option for small families or couples who like to sleep in, in the mornings. the Dark room technology works very well. Only the font of the tent lets in light due to the design of the fly around the door. I would recommend setting up the tent facing west if possible to keep the morning sun out. The fly seems a bit short above the door and there is no vestibule to store extra gear. The interior is large enough for a full size queen air mattress and the walls of the tent are vertical enough for a tall air mattress. Overall I would recommend this tent for motorcycle or car camping. Its far to heavy for hiking and with the vertical walls it doesn't preform well in winds. But if your camping in a campground or in the front country, this is a great tent.
