I’d buy it again.
Seems like a good tent. We spent a weekend with 2 people and 2 dogs - no issues, no rips. I set it up by myself in about 5 minutes. Had someone else been there, it would have been 2 minutes but every time I extended one side, the other side dropped down. Zippers all work well with minimal catching while opening/closing. Lots of room, lots of windows.
I used 10 Person Lighted Instant Cabin Tent. The tent is great, spacious and the LED lights were very helpful. It is very easy to install and put back to bag, only 15 minutes. This version has light run around tent with batteries. There have many windows around tent, and also have one roof that make very special to see view at night time. Only one thing I wish the roof is waterproof. It will not wet or scare water go through the tent. It is quite heavy.
I used this for one season and just started using it this season, so far, pretty good. The set up and take down are sooo quick and convenient. I love love love how easy it is to take down AND put back into its bag. The tent is not light and it takes up a good chunk of space in your vehicle. Think pop up canopy but shorter. PROS: It is extremely roomy inside. Easy set up and take down (everyone will be jealous of how quickly your setup was as you sit and watch them struggle with poles) I absolutely love this tent. It easily, and comfortably, fit two cots and a queen size blow up. The little room divider was great for when I shared my tent with a friend who forgot her poles (more reason to go with this) and my dog likes it. With regards to rain, I've only had it in light rain and it remained dry inside. CONS: this does NOT withstand heavy wind when out in the open with no coverage around it. I did not think it was going to be as windy as it was. The gusts blew the tent over. Even when trying to anchor it down, this thing was no match for the wind. HOWEVER, I was able to move the tent next to a tree and position it so that it was not taking on direct wind and it withstood a night of 30mph winds. The material is not as hardy as my past (other brand that rhymes with Moleman) tents. There is already a hole in the netting and when the wind blew the tent over, the rainfly sustained a tear. These are all easy things to fix, but a bit annoying considering the price.
Loved it...want more
I've bought this tent twice because I loved it so much the first time. I rushed to bag the first tent during a torrential rain and ended up bending the posts, so I replaced it. Love this tent. I can set it up by myself in about 5 minutes (tops) and it is so roomy and comfortable inside. The only thing I want to figure out is how to cover the mesh top to keep the heat in during an autumn or early spring camping trip. But let me tell you--I spent a week in this tent in particularly strong and windy Kansas rain storms, and stayed bone dry, while my friends' tents blew over or collapsed and flooded them out. Have I mentioned I LOVE this tent?
Great blockout tent
We just had a backyard camping, and the blockout tent was great!
Core keeps sending me USED tents!!
I purchased this tent with high hopes of finally taking my girls out and not struggling to set up a tent basically by myself. I went to set up and 1 pole was completely detached from the hub, backwards and joint broke which ruined our first camping trip. When I was trying to get good pics of the broken peice I had to go into the tent and physically hold it up myself when I realized this tent also had a hole in the floor. They decided to just send another tent rather than the parts and patch thankfully. However, when unpacking this second tent it was full of grass and dirt prints and the stakes are bent, which again, it's clearly a refurbish or returned product. I paid good money for a NEW tent and it only received used questionable products. I don't know what else to do at this point since the tent is not broken... I'm just disappointed I was falsely led to believe I was purchasing a new unused, structurally sound tent
Put the fears aside and buy this tent
I looked and researched at tents a lot before my purchase and ultimately had to make a decision due to time constraints. I'm very glad I chose this tent. It's roomy, tall, and most importantly, kept us completely dry. The first day of camping we ended up having about a 2 hour storm with steady medium rain and it stayed dry. Then the worst happened and we woke up about 5:30 am to a tornado warning that brought a torrential, flood-warned downpour that lasted for a good 20 minutes and it miraculously had no water inside. No water at all. Thankfully, no tornado touched down. I was pleasantly surprised and that is what prompted me to write this review. My biggest fear was rain since these tents don't have the bathtub floors and this tent handled it like a champ. I'm not sure what the wind speeds were during this storm, but it was enough to break down a few tree limbs in the city and our tent was rippling in the wind, but it stayed strong. Any stronger winds and it likely wouldn't have held or I suspect the rainfly would have been blown off/guy lines ripped out of the ground. I hope this review helps someone else whose worried about inclement weather and being in this tent. I've only had dome tents before, so I was nervous switching to a less stable cabin tent and this turned out to not be an issue. I am so happy with Core and I will recommend them to anyone going forward.
Love this tent!
I bought this tent in 2015, after much reviewing, and have loved this thing since! I wanted a tent with airflow so when I woke up in the morning all our gear wasn’t damp with humidity. This tent has great airflow through with the air vents and mesh top keeps our stuff dry from the humidity buildup overnight. The first time I used it in 2015, was during one of the worst rain/thunderstorms I have ever camped in. I should have checked the weather before and I may not have stayed in the tent then. Regardless, there was a bit of water in the corners and some that came through the front zipper door (tent was facing the direction of the rain) but that was to be expected. Recently, I have torn a hole in the tent at the seam by the front door because my foot went under the tent and it tore a bit. I will be repairing it and will continue to use it. I ended up purchasing the Core instant ten person tent as well, and I’m sure the quality will be equal! I can’t say I have ever had a tent last this long, especially with two little kids and a dog going in and out of the tent. Great products! Love you guys!
Don’t do it
Don’t purchase this tent unless you want to be standing in a rainstorm at your campsite with a broken tent while your 1 and 3 year old kids cry.
Glamper's Paradise
Update 8/16/21: It rained! We had a late afternoon thunderstorm pop up this past weekend, but everything inside our tent stayed dry. I sent my teen to zip up the windows, but with the air vents engaged, it didn't even get stuffy! It was a very humid weekend, however, and the floor got a little damp underneath his sleeping pad, and under the packing blanket I use under my air mattress, likely from condensation.
7 nights, 7 campsites, and we still LOVE this tent
I can't say enough good things about this tent.
Used it once, seems to be okay
My previous tent was a 6 person tent from a major outdoor manufacturer, and, to be fair, it cost more than twice what this one cost. But since that was my reference point, I was a bit surprised at how thin the fabric was on this tent when I received it.
