I owned one of these for the last 12 years. I loved it %26 decided it was time to get a fresh new 1. Item was not properly packaged. arrived with a broken handle. I returned to the store %26 didn't buy another 1 because it was very cheaply made. Thinner materials and the base had no weight to it. Poor quality.

The quick view said it whistles, it does not. The cord is too short, it should be long enough for the plug to go to the indentation so the plug can stick out. When you try to wrap it to store it does not stay wrapped. Other than that, I like it. It boils fast and it's nice to life the pot off and not be attached to the cord.

Bought this kettle to replace a ceramic kettle that had worn out, this was a great purchase, it’s very easy to fill, holds a lot of water, and hits quickly. Definitely recommend it.

Not the best value

I’m a bit disappointed with my purchase. Yes, it looks great and it does the job, but it heats slow. Also, I didn’t notice how small the top opening was. I have small hands but I can barely reach in to scrub the inside of the pot.

Old faithful

This is my second purchase of this model. It looks exactly the same with a couple small tweaks, being a newer model. I had the last one for years and it conked out about a week ago. We literally felt the brunt of no longer being able to use it. We truly became dependent on this kettle! You don’t have to watch a pot and the capacity of water really suits our needs. It’s like a little assistant. So glad we have another one.

This replaced our old Hamilton Beach kettle, which lasted probably close to a decade. This one heats up even faster. We keep it on our counter and use it for everything from tea to boiling water for pasta.

Have used it for a couple of weeks now and like it more each day. It boils water very very quickly. Although there is no whistle, you can see the red light has gone off when it has completed and is automatically switched off (a nice feature). It is very helpful to have the window showing the amount of water, and it is important to note that you have to have a foundation of a sufficient amount of water (around 2 cups) for it to operate. Looks good and has a nice spout and top opening for filling. We have searched for a good kettle for a few months, and this one finally fits the bill.

The Hamilton Beach electric kettle does its job of heating water quickly and then automatically turning off, an important safety feature. It looks nice on the counter. What I didn't like is the light weight of the appliance. The kettle itself is lightweight with an unattractive plastic part to create the window to see how much water is in the kettle. Worse though is the lightweight of the base which easily moves around when the kettle is taken off the base; it should be heavy enough to stay put when the kettle is lifted off.

Everything I need in a kettle

Good size/capacity. Pours nicely WITHOUT LEAKING! I didn't need something fancy that warmed the water to different temperatures for different teas. I wanted a kettle that just boiled water, and this one works great.

Very good

Electric kettles are such a simple device that I'm not sure what makes one much better than another. I liked an old kettle I had that had a light shining through the glass so that you could see how full it was more easily. I bought this one because it was recommended by the NYTimes. Maybe it will last longer than others. I do wish they would all be easier to fill.

Poor engineering on the filter

filter by spout is a great idea but to take it off and try and put it back on is very difficult and you can actually cut yourself when trying to reinstall it. This is an engineering issue and needs to be addressed

The screen inside came loose and was difficult to reattach.

Best addition to my kitchen. The wait time for boiled water is at a fraction of the time. I use it a lot for cooking. It save me time when making pasta.

DO NOT buy this item. The one I received had a major manufacturing defect: the electrical connection that sticks up from the base unit was too tall, and the kettle could therefore not sit on the base unit as it is supposed to. Instead, it sat on top of the small connector and wobbled continuously. I contacted Hamilton Beach and they said that there was no problem, that's how the device is supposed to work. I have an older HB version of the same model, and that is NOT how it is supposed to work. HB did not offer to exchange/replace/fix. Home Depot service was good, Hamilton Beach product was terrible.

Very pleased with my new kettle, it appears quicker than my last kettle. which was fairly old. Nice seeing the fill line on outside of kettle and also lid that opens with press of a button. shopped around and Home Depot was best price

Second time around

I absolutely love this kettle. We had one for four years and used multiple times a day. We replaced it because a piece on the top popped off and it wasn’t shutting off automatically. Thousands of uses is very good! Also, my favorite thing about it is how fast it is and that you push the lever up to turn on. It is a safety feature since we had others that push down and they would sometimes get hit by something and start the water boiling. Love this one.

Great Kettle for the Price

Easy to see the water level. Easy to open the top. Easy to fill. Heats quickly. Shuts off automatically. For an inexpensive kettle it is perfect.

Works Great!

I've only had this electric kettle for 4 days but it is doing everything it was promised to do. I get my water for tea boiled quickly and without any mess or inconvenience. I hope it continues that way!

We like the spout compared to previous kettles we have owned. The on button took some getting used to but it has grown on us. Makes more sense, now. We have had it since Christmas 23. We like it just fine. No complaints. We enjoyed the pick-up at Home Depot in a locker inside the front door. Very easy.
