Some notes from a call to Hauslane Support

(1) To stop the fan you must switch off the entire unit—that is, the lights must be relit if desired. (2) Two rubber feet come as parts but are never described. SUPPORT says those feet act as shims to create space behind the unit if your tiled backsplash stops at the base of the hood. (3) The cutout template is imprecise. (4) NEC [422.16(B)(4)] requires range hoods to be hardwired, not cord-and-plug connected, unless hooked to a dedicated circuit. You may need to drill a hole, mount a conduit clamp, and run flexible metallic conduit to protect the cord enroute to the junction box.

Beautiful unit arrive in perfect shape. Very clear and DIY friendly instructions. Easy plug-in electrical. One downside: Screw holes for install are impossible to access without a 8-12” Phillips extension for drill/screwgun. And even with that, I need to add a wide washer to make sure of contact/overlap.

Stopped working on day 2

Unit only lasted 1 day of light use! Customer service offers trial-and-error type of repairs, which will take weeks for them to ship parts - so expect to live without a hood for weeks because they don't offer refunds/replacements until you try these repairs. You can't do the repairs? Too bad, because they don't cover the cost of labor. Still not working? Tough luck, you pay the labor to install it again.

It’s a beautiful vent hood, high quality. It is very heavy so installation will take two people minimum. The hood was beautiful, but unfortunately the height was too tall for our under cabinet space so it hung too low over the stovetop. We had to return it.

Pro: It looks pretty. Very powerful fans with good suction.

Better than we could have imagined.

After much research we decided on this make and model. Had to replace microwave/hood that previous owner had installed. It was a accident waiting to happen as it was only 17" above a gas stove. You must have the proper distance between a cooking surface and a vent such as a microwave/hood or something is going to burn. The unit arrived in perfect condition, unboxed and tested everything. Only complant is it was packed in styrofoam, why not pack in formed cardboard that can be recycled? We added proper duct work to vent outside. This hood works fantastic. Even on high you can stand at the stove and have a conversation. I highly recommend this hood.

This has worked out great we had a electrician install this. I enjoy the three-speed fan for low medium and high it appropriately pulls up the steam and smells of cooking. I really enjoy the feature that you can pull the grates down to be able to clean all of the grease off. The only tricky part is getting in between the slats as there's no way to completely disassemble those that I've been able to figure out at least so you do need to soak them for a while and use a sponge in between each slat so it is a little time-consuming but typically have only done it like four times a year. The metal can be quite sure if I did cut myself so be cautious. The lights that are built into this I don't think would be bright enough to illuminate an area we had additional lights put in to our nook. The fan itself is not terribly loud you can definitely hear it but it's more quiet than our last one and I don't think it's reasonable to think a fan is going to make no noise. Overall happy with this and would purchase another one if this broke for some reason. We have had this for almost 3 years now and it works like new.

Stay away from this company!! I was really excited to get this vent. But once installed, the thing turns out to be a dud. I don't recommend buying this at all. Moreover, the customer service is absolutely atrocious in trying to fix this issue. I've called several times to get the customer service people to call back, but no luck.

Very Good Hood at a Reasonable Price

I was looking to upgrade our range hood from the cheap, noisy model installed by the original builder. Found the Hauslane website, and based on the reviews I purchased the UC-PS10 because of the lights and the (claimed) quietness of the fan. After installation, which was pretty easy for me (but I'm a handyman) I found the unit to look great, operate flawlessly, and overall is very close to what I-- or, actually, my wife-- had in mind. However, the fan is a bit noisier on low speed than I expected based on the description and other reviews. I can't see us needing the higher speeds unless there were a situation where we needed to remove a lot of smoke, and in such case I wouldn't care about the noise. Don't get me wrong-- it's still quieter than my old one, but I guess I was hoping/expecting "whisper mode" and instead got "normal conversation mode."

fan exhausts as advertised

Overall, a good buy. I'd probably give it a 4 1/2 if a half star was allowed. It replaced a Broan that was a complete waste of money as a hood fan (but now is working well as an exhaust fan on a sanding table in my shop).

I love this range hood! I normally cook everyday for my family. But my old Broan range hood is very weak. Everytime I cook, the smell of food filled our entire home. It gets in our living room and bedroom. Doesn't matter when I shut the door or not. My kitchen cabinet and ceiling get sticky from the grease. It made our daily cleaning very troublesome. Ever since we switched to this Chef PS10 range hood, it changed my life! No smell, no grease, and no cleaning the cabinet everyday. This range hood is very powerful that when I make stir-fried dishes, the living room won't smell a thing!My few other friends bought from the same brand and they like it. They have very good customer service, especially Stanley. He was very patience with me and he took my calls on weekends.

Pleasantly Surprised

I normally do not buy stuff of this caliber without seeing it in person or otherwise reading extensive reviews but decided to take the plunge after recommendations from a friend who is a much better cook than me. I am glad I did. After doing some research, I had already concluded that I wanted something pretty powerful with stainless steel that I could clean easily. This seemed to hit all the right marks.Personally, I am not a big fan of touch screens, as I prefer tactile buttons, but that ultimately became a minor point. Everything else seems well built and has features that seem standard across the market. As an aside, the fans were quieter than I expected them to be, which was a plus.Lastly, installation for me was fairly straightforward, but definitely bring a friend. I usually am more of a DIY person but instantly decided against it. The unit isn?? very heavy but not something you?? want to install yourself.

We received this item sooner than expected. It is easier to have two people to hold and screw it in place. The buttons require only a soft touch for the power/fan to start working. No cooking odors with the fan on anywhere in the house. (If you forget to turn the fan on while you were frying onions/fish, and garlic for 30 minutes, there would be an odor accumulating in the hall/living room. But once the fan starts working, the odor fades away.) So far we are very happy with it. It is powerful, loud, but not annoying. The sound is pleasant. Has a few settings for lights with a bright option. What sold us on this product is a 2 year company warranty. Looking forward to auto clean.

Excellent Exhaust hood. More than expected,worth of price.

What a Hood Exhaust. Must say more than expectations. Its been more than month now. I must say its really good one. I did my whole kitchen renovate and Making everyday indian food with spicies I was worried about having durable good quality hood exhaust with higher CFMs. Have to say so far we hardly went up higher speed from three speed selector. The lower speed is more than enough and didn't needed higher speed so far. Definitely recommend this one. ONLY ONE THING ITS VERY HEAVY AND NEED TWO PERSON TO INSTALL. But im happy after installing.

Incredible Hood

This is an incredible hood constructed with high quality parts. We have only had this hood for a week so yet to observe an potential issue with its digital display that other reviewers have experienced. It did take us a full day to install mainly because we had to retrofit the hood into our 20 years old cabinet. After extensive search and comparison with other hoods, we purchased this hood knowing modifying our cabinet would be a small trade-off for a very reasonably priced good quality hood. The hood could not be installed flush underneath our cabinet due to the old design of the cabinet, so we had to install 1*3 wood pieces between cabinet and the hood. This also helps support the weight of the hood in our instance. Also we added washers when screwing the hood into to our cabinet since the pre-drilled holes missed 1/8 inch. Although the installation process is tedious in our instance, it is well worth in the end. Overall, we are very pleased with the hood.

Love our new range hood!

Issues:- 1) One of the measurements of the holes (distance between holes) for installation showing on the diagram was wrong. It shows 26" but it's actually 27". Which happened that the old one that I removed was exactly the same with this new range hood. Which then become easier for me to replace the old one.- 2) Other issue that I found was that the clock seems to be a lot faster than normal and its military time (24 hrs). Which I already knew before I ordered this product by reading all the comments on its review page.Problem solved:I did call the tech support about the clock issue. Calvin, Tech Support responded to me right away. He did sent me the new replacement part and the instructions.- I finally got the chance to replaced the part after a week of having the part. After I installed the new part, I already noticed that the clock is set to 12 hrs instead of military time (24 hrs). Which I really wanted- Then, 1 day later, I also noticed that the time is now running normal.* Now, Everything is good and my wife is very happy about it cause of the strong suction plus the clock!

Very good value.

Very good value for price. Moves a lot of air, pretty easy to install. The controls are not perfect ant to turn off the fan. Turning off the fan also turns off the lights, annoying design. I would prefer if the low fan setting was quieter, but it's not terrible considering its ability to move air.Restaurant-style grease filters are easy to clean and install and look very good. Lights are not as bright as I would like.Within a month of installing, one of the lights would consistently flicker and go out randomly for extended periods. After several months of being frustrated by this, I called Hauslane for support, and they could not have been more helpful. After troubleshooting, they shipped me two new replacement LED assemblies free of charge and the problem appears to be resolved. Bravo!

Efficient and delightful product!

Very good product!If you cook with a lot of heat and oil (typical Chinese style for example), you will love this product way better than the weak ones or the ones that don't have real ventilation.This is a carefully designed product: simple and solid surfaces. The control panel is simple and well organized, this range hood even reminds me of Apple products. It's delightful to touch and use. The handyman who was installing it praised its efficiency.It's very powerful in terms of getting rid of smoke and food odor. When it's running w/ full strength, we can't even smell the food 2 meters away or in any room above kitchen area. It's reasonably quiet. I haven't tried the auto clean feature but it looks like a well thought through feature as well.The seller was very responsive to my questions before and after the order. The seller is knowledgeable about installation and cares deeply about his/her customers.

Great performance and fair price.

This is an excellent range hood at a fair price. The fit and finish is pretty good. I love the clock display because it's bright with a clear font. Hopefully it doesn't have issues as others have experienced. I went from a non-vented microwave to this range hood and it works better than I expected. The cooking smells have been drastically reduced and the cooking area is staying grease free. The exhaust is very powerful. It kicks up dust outside when it's on max from 12 feet high. It's almost like a leaf blower mounted on the side of my house.I do wish it was a higher quality stainless steel because magnets do stick to it which tells me some money was saved in its construction. That's reflected in its price, but I would pay more for higher quality materials.The mounting holes were a challenge to access. Especially the left rear located next to the blower motor. I think it took me a dozen attempts to get my bolt lined up and threaded through. It was frustrating, but now that it's installed, I couldn't be happier.This is a must have for Asian style cooking. I needed high CFMs and this hood delivers. I was skeptical of the perimeter suction design versus typical baffles, but I've found it's much easier to clean. Perhaps baffles are better for high greese content, but if your focus is eliminating odor then this hood performs great.

Strong suction, easy to install

This model is easier to install than most models. The screw holes are cut in a way that if the screws were pre-installed on the cabinet first, the hood can be lifted up and hang onto the screws, it make the installation much easier (I will give another half star if a cardboard screw holes installation template is included in the package). The suction is as good as our old hood that cost double. I took one star off because of two reasons: 1. A cheaper model from the same manufacturer included a delay off timer, this model don't. 2. The LED is too weak (3W) and at an odd angle. The outside stove is only half illuminated. It is easy to fix, I replace the LED with wide angle 6W LED but I shouldn't have to do that myself.
