Is there really an a better brand than hot tools for curling irons? This one has served me well for years and has no sign of slowing down. It makes my difficult hair hold curls and least I’m looking super pretty. It’s definitely investment but so worth it if you want a nice solid curl.
Heats quickly. Cord is long enough to use ez. very hot so be careful not to burn. Clamp so far holds my hair very well. We’ll see how long they lasts.
Perfect for a blowout look!
I love this curling iron. It is exactly what I was looking for. A lot of people give this curling iron bad reviews because it doesn’t hold a curl in your hair. Well, this curling iron is not meant to give you ringlet curls. This curling iron is mean to give a semi-blow out type of look where the ends are curled. So they’re just using this curling iron for the wrong purpose. If you want loose curls, buy a 1.25-1.5 curling iron and comb/run your fingers through your hair.
Who doesn't love big bouncy curls ? If your like me , it seems that I can never find anything that gives me those big beautiful curls ! This curling iron does that and more ! Literally so easy to curl my hair and the curls actually stay !! I like the bigger plate because i have alot of hair and the big plate just works better for me , so many options and styles that you can create with this bad boy ! Definitely Worth every penny !
Terrible design of 2 inch curling iron
Hot Tools 2 inch curling iron is NOT BALANCED. Although it has a kickstand, the weight of the iron is heavier and the heated part lays on the counter. NO auto shutoff. Kristin Ess brand has the same problem, however, it does have auto shutoff.
Heats up and cools down quickly.
Trying to add stronger curl to my naturally wavy slightly curly thick hair. Curl does not hold well even using curling gel and hair spray to "lock in curls". Takes much longer to curl my hair having to take smaller sections than with my old cheaper curling iron. It does not appear to be damaging the hair. Frizzy ends have to be touched up to smooth the hair tips.
I got the long barrel version of this curling iron bc I have long hair and I love it. Something about the gold makes product not stick to it, so I rarely get build up and if I do, I just spray alcohol on the barrel when it’s warm and wipe it off. I had to use WD-40 on the springs once bc it was squeaking, but it wasn’t affecting the performance. I have 2C hair that’s long and thick, so the high heat helps a ton. Also, it has a very long cord, which is nice for multi-tasking while you’re doing your hair! Would recommend this to anyone without hesitation.
I purchase this curling iron on sale at ulta during the Black Friday deal and I’m so happy that I did! Literally takes 15 minutes to curl my hair! I have super thick hair and this is perfect for that everyday effortless curl or just wrapping my hair around the wand. Awesome adjustable heat setting and easy to use. Highly recommend!
This took a little getting used to but I wanted to try this brand because it was used on me at the salon with positive results. My normal curling iron is a 1" Babyliss so I wanted to try the larger barrel Hot Tools in a 1.5". Heats quickly and evenly and I have no damage or pulling of my hair. It's not as slippery smooth as the surface of my Babyliss but I got used to it very quickly. I'll post a photo showing the results from each size for anyone wondering like I was: taken a couple days apart, 1.5" on left and 1" on right.
Love it, but.....
This is my fourth 2" Curling Iron from Hot Tools. The good? I have a short bob and I like the way it lifts and smooths and turns hair under just a little at the ends. If you are buying for big curls, this is not the curling iron you want. It's too big to curl. It's easier to use than a flat iron for me.
I love this curling iron! For starters I’ve had it for almost 7 years and it still works perfectly! I use it almost every other day! It heats up fast and gets the job done. This curling iron gives my hair volume! The curl is a very loose curl and it doesn’t last for long but your hair will still look really nice after the curl is out! People always compliment my hair!
I wanted to love this, I really did! I think it's so pretty and looks classy, the perfect hair styling tool! But unfortunately, this doesn't hold my curls. I have thin Asian hair and for some reason, my hair always goes limp 15-30 minutes after using this curling iron EVEN WITH hairspray! It's actually really frustrating and I always end up having to re-curl it. Even then it doesn't really do the job. I have yet to find a combination of hair products that work with this curling iron. For now, I'm sticking to my tourmaline Conair Infiniti Pro - it holds my curl all day even without any product. Still keeping this curling iron because it's pretty and I got it on sale at Ulta. Definitely wouldn't have bought it for full price!
Works Great But.....
I love the results I get from this curling iron. I have thick wavy hair and this iron makes large soft curls that really hold. It heats up within a minute and I can almost achieve that salon look all by myself at home! The only complaint I have is that the spring keeps breaking on the handle clip. I have had to replace it twice already. It must be common for this to happen because when I opened the box. it included a replacement spring order form. There must be some way that they can come up with a spring clip that doesn't need replacement so often. Overall, I would recommend this iron along with some heat protecting spray because it can get really hot!
Luv My Hot Tools!
This is my second Hot Tools Clip Curling Iron and I luv it. I went with the larger barrel, 11/2" and I already owned a 1". Easy to use, light weight, adjustable temperature and makes great, long lasting curls. My extensions luv it as well. I only wish Hot Tools would make a version with interchangable heads so that you could opt for different size curls rather than having to have separate individual irons. I'm running out of valuable storage space for all my hair tools. Luv it and would highly recommend this brand/tool. Very affordable as well.
POOR QUALITY MATERIAL ON SPRING LEVER
Wonderful curling iron as long as you keep the temperature to the right setting for your hair. Have had FOUR or FIVE of the black plastic coverings on the spring levers break on me. They either start to come apart in small pieces or as the last one did, just split in half after three uses. They can't be taped back together unfortunately so have to throw them away. Sent two back to Hot Tools for repair but they came back looking dirty and they also came apart almost immediately!!!!!!!!!! Hot Tools apparently relies on people like me who just have to go out and buy another one. Would be nice if they would improve the material to withstand at least normal use. Definitely think these curling iron levers should last for a year or more.
It's true! Handle turns to sticky mess after a couple of years.
This is a great curling iron...until you take it out of the cupboard one day and your hand sticks to the handle. I rarely use my irons - every few months and treat them gently. I didn't believe previous reviewers who said the same thing. The soft, black plastic/rubber handle turns sticky in a way that makes you need to throw it away - in a landfill. I use typical hair products available for sale in salons - so I don't know what particular ingredient may have contributed to its demise. Maybe it has a limited life-span regardless of product you use. This happened to 2 hot tools curling irons - one gold and one purple coated I'd bought at a similar time. They both were a sticky mess all of a sudden. No I have no iron and I'm never buying a hot tool iron again - until they change the material they use on their handles. If you want an iron to last you more than 3 years - look elsewhere. They are such simple devices they should last a lifetime for personal use.
Great Great Great!!!
I am a beginner using a curling iron, and I just wanted to try EVERYTHING! After very long research, I ended up buying this and the Sedu Clipless Curling Iron (I also tried my friend's Babybliss Spring Iron), and I have to say this one is the definite winner! So easy to use, such great curl I want loose curls so I bought the huge one, and now I am thinking of getting the second large one. I just know it's gonna be great! The only thing I am a little concerned with is that it is not made of ceramic, and I don't know if that's gonna damage my hair more than I'd like. Second thought, I think I'll buy the other size in ceramic from Hot Tool. Hopefully I can get the same results!
Great!!! But don't last so long :(
I've owned several of these curling irons and they are great! The curls stay in all day and the irons are very easy to work with in your fingers. I adore mine. The only downfall I have found is that they don't work for that long. Longest I have gotten from one of these irons is just over a year... 1 1/2 years the most! Which stinks! But I they work so well when they are working that it's worth every penny to just buy a new one every year. I use my irons on a daily basis. The price is very fair! Love this iron! I recommend it to all ... just don't cry when it stops working afar a year or so, because I warned ya! .... But that year you will be the best hair year you've had, lol! Just buy one, the curls are worth it!!! Lastly ... to Hot Tools, please make your products last a bit longer! You have the best iron in the market, just make it even better! :)
The best curling iron I've ever owned!
I have long, thick, coarse hair that isn't straight or wavy. It's "fuzzy" and doesn't keep a style well even when blown dry with a metal core round brush. I always need to "finish" with an iron and found that I would go through the $15 Revlon curling irons from Target about once a year. I had to set them on the highest heat and I think I just wore them out with daily use. My daughter in law comes from a family of stylists and she suggested I try the Hot Tools brand. $40-50 for a curling iron? I thought it was crazy but she said try it... and I haven't regretted it since. I've had a 1 1/2" and a 2" barrel gold spring iron for over 6 years and have had no issues. They heat up quickly, stay hot, and when set to only 7, even my long coarse thick hair takes a curl and keeps that "loose and bouncy" look all day. To be honest I rarely use the 2" - I didn't realize how big it was and it tends to be a better straightener.. but the 1 1/2" makes perfect vertical tubes that I fluff apart when they are cooled and I get that "natural" bouncy curl look. I'm hooked on the brand and will try one of their blow dryers the next time I'm in the market for one : )
Surprisingly great!
I always thought a curling iron was, well a curling iron. I recently bought a less expensive 1.25 inch iron at a local beauty store. I had two problems with it. First of all, felt like it did not slide nicely on my hair when placing it. Secondly, the heat setting dial was located in a place that caused it to keep changing while I was curling my hair. Annoying, to say the least. So, I decided to do a Google search for "best curling iron". InStyle's website reccomended this iron. I usually am somewhat, mmm, pessimistic about magazine's "best of" lists. How often do you try something on one of those lists and wonder how it made it on there? In any case, I thought the price was reasonable, and Folica had a great sale promo to add to temptation. I could not be happier with this iron! The first time I used it, I thought maybe it was a fluke. But no, it has delivered every time! It slides easily on the hair. The tip is longer, so no burnt fingers. The cord does not tangle at all. The dials stay where you set them. But, best of all, my hair has never looked smoother nor has curl lasted as long. I seriously considered throwing out all of my other curling irons and replacing them with Hot Tools. Seriously. If you need a curling iron and are looking at this one, just buy it. Believe me, you will be happy you did!
