Grabbed a bag by mistake. Usually buy natural lump charcoal. Don't care for briquettes due to large amounts of ash and binders. Jealous Devil briquettes burn HOT and produce far less ash. Went back and bought second bag. Use in 22 inch kettle and 22 inch Smoky Mountain smoker.

Hate it. Thought it was JD lump which I have bought at HD several times.

Ready to use quickly

I've bought 2 bags (in store) so far. We really like these. We use a chimney starter. Ready faster and are bigger sized than other brands we have used. Someone complained they were not suitable for long cooking. I have no experience with that as we just mostly make burgers. They are kind of spendy. I haven't have any issues with broken briquets. But I really like them and will continue to buy them.

Burns fast doesn’t have over powering smoke flavor. Burn hot and long. So glad I found this stuff.

The briquettes were high quality and larger than most commercial briquettes. Take a little more energy to light (used two fire starters in a charcoal chimney), but because of their size, these coals lasted about 32 hours at low temps (between 235 and 275F). Would definitely buy them again.

We love this charcoal, bigger bricks, longer heat. Had tried it from another retail outlet but then found it on the shelf at Home Depot, glad to see it there!

These briquets are GREAT!

I have been using Jealous Devil Max XL Briquettes for about a year. After using kingsford blue for over 20 yrs, I decided to switch to something that had less chemical additives. I tried just about every lump charcoal on the market and did not care for the inconsistency in size as it causes temp fluctuations and was hard to measure, some even had rocks. Here comes Jealous Devil with a lump charcoal briquette. Consistent high heat burn, I can actually use less charcoal during a cook than the old kingsford briquettes to maintain a long burn as I cook mostly indirect with the charcoal banked in a charcoal basket. Highly recommend SnS slow n Sear products. Jealous devil makes a quality product.

On sale, it’s a good deal. I purchased 6 and the past 2 bags I used didn’t burn right. Not sure if it’s from factory, transporting or HD - but it seems as if they’re damp. I’ve used they’re 10lb box of briquets with zero issues. The Jealous Devil doesn’t have the wood smoke overpowering smell which I like. Been doing this a while, my favorite currently is Kingsford Hardwood Briquets but with the prices of things post 2020, these seemed like a good deal. Would be 5 stars if it burned better.

My husband swears by this charcoal! It is good for grilling and smoking a variety of meats and vegetables.

A very high heat charcoal, mix it with some competition style BBQ briquettes, some wood chips, and you'll have an amazing cook happening.
