Worst Garmin I have
I wanted something to sleep with and give me comfort about my oxygen levels and heart conditions. Something smaller than my Phenix Pro.
A great minimalist health watch
A solid minimalist smartwatch for those that want to keep on top of their fitness goals. This watch monitors your heart rate, stress levels, sleep quality, step count and workout activities. Once it learns more about you, it will make recommendations to help you achieve your goals.
An ace wearable fit tracker.
Vivosmart 5 is a useful and comfortable tracker. Easy to setup and synch with you mobile phone for daily recording on your heart rate, steps, distance covered and intensity of exercise. Additionally, inputs are message notifications form your phone, goal aspirations and celebratory motivations. Choose the length of wear daily or as a way to check on your fitness goals. Personally, I need reading glasses so the V5's screen can be too small for nearsighted folk without glasses. Overall an ace wearable tracker.
Excellent fitness tracker
I bought this to replace my vivosmart4, which stopped working. Really good value for money. I am really pleased with the extra functions and it is much easier to use. The only grumble would be that it is larger than the vivo4 and I only have very small wrists. I am getting used to it though.
Great upgrade
I upgraded from the Garmin Vivosmart 4 and am really pleased with this watch. Set up was incredibly straightforward (albeit I already had the Garmin app) and the watch is very easy to use especially with the addition of the touchscreen and button on this model. It does everything I need it to do: counts steps and fitness activity, tells me the time and provides notifications from apps e.g. Insta, WhatsApp! It's a neat fit, great for a smaller wrist and very comfortable to wear. Perhaps if you need something with more features this would disappoint but perfect for me.
A let down!
This watch is fine when it is working but is very temperamental and is a let down. It is frozen and stuck on one screen which does not tell anything except a graph of the last week's activities. I tried everything but it remains frozen. It is still connected to my iphone but that's about it. I think it is such a shame to pay that much for a very limited time. I really needed to measure my heart rate, my steps and calories but this has now all stopped and it may just be two years old or under. I expected much better from a well known name like Garmin and I think the company should do better than this. I shall not buy it again albeit I gave my sister one last Christmas as a gift but she's not too impressed with its performance either. So disappointed and I therefore would not recommend it until Garmin does a better job on its performance or extends its guarantee.
A downgrade from Fitbit Charge 2
I bought this after using a fitbit charge 2 for many many years. I’ve now had the vivosmart 5 for a year and I truly believe it’s a downgrade. Here’s why;
Great minimalistic fitness tracker!
Good: You get 95% of Garmin data & trackers at a fraction of high-end watches. Very compact and comfortable.
Essential
I'm a firefighter-paramedic and I was looking for a tough, small/low profile smart watch and this is just that. It does almost everything I need. The only things lacking are a digital seconds tracker on the watch faces and the ability to track custom workouts on your watch. You can only track preset default workouts like cardio or strength training. Overall a great watch. I wore this watch in a structure fire that was polluted with thick smoke and high temps and it was no worse for wear. Definitely recommend.
I thought the Vivosmart 4 was good, but this is even better.
I bought a Vivosmart 4 four and a half years ago and was pretty happy with it, except that the bezel became detached, and the strap was showing signs of wear. I also wanted to have a main watch and a spare, so I bought the Vivosmart 5. I had looked at quite a few similar watches when I bought the 4, and it seemed to offer very good value for money. A friend advised she could wear it even with a nickel allergy if she dried it after it got wet and wore it on a different wrist each day.
Love my Venu sq2
Love this Garmin watch. It does most
Okay, but limited functionality and no GPS.
I bought this device for my wife, who previously had the Vivosport. The Vivosport was excellent, with a great battery life, built in GPS and a variety of sports/activity tracking capabilities. After a number of years the battery was no longer holding charge, and we decided to "upgrade" to the Vivosmart 5.
Very good but challenging
the Garmin Vivo smart 5 tracker works well. It checks everything your doctor wants to know and is easy enough to set up. It has to be charged every week and it was difficult to stop it from opening the back light during sleep in the middle of the night. The widgets are also challenging to organize, I cannot seem to be able to do it! On the app it says to remove the ones you do not want by swiping the + sign and the one you want to keep showing on your Garmin watch to press the - sign? This does not make sense to me and it does not work. Also, I check Sunday as the first day and the watch seems to think it is Monday? Maybe i should call the company to help me. Otherwise I am happy with it, all I need to know is heart rate, sleep, steps, distance and oxygen intake, all of the other widget I do ot need and it drains the battery quicker.
[Rewarded Review] Inaccurate on many levels
I've used the watch for just over 1 year. Previously had an honor band 3. Since this watch was a similar size I really hoped it would be an upgrade but it's not.
Smart looking tracker
I switched to the vivo smart after losing my fairly basic Fitbit when the strap came undone on its own. For starters this has a much more secure strap and fastening!
Heart Monitor Inaccurate
Mainly bought this watch for the heart monitor for my gym workouts. I've tried numerous ways of wearing it (somewhat loose, snug, tight, below wrist bone, above wrist bone, left arm, right arm) and the heart monitor is never accurate. I walk on an elevated treadmill to increase my heart rate to about 140 bpm, however the Vivosmart 5 always shows between 88 and 102 bpm. I have confirmed with other watches and with grabbing the heart rate metal bands on the treadmill (and bike), that my heart rate is in fact around 135 to 140 bpm (sweating, rapid breathing), however the Vivosmart 5 always shows something between mid 80's to around 100 bpm. If you are interested in an accurate heart rate watch, I wouldn't buy this one. It does give me notifications of texts, steps, etc. which is OK, but I mainly bought it for the heart rate monitor.
Massive disappointment
When this first arrived it seemed good, but less than 4 months in it no longer works. It fails to measure my heartrate, stress levels and energy levels at all, claiming there is "low HR signal" and poor "fitting" on my wrist (it's positioned as it always has been and as the instructions state it should be). It has very limited options when it comes to choosing which type of exercise you're doing in terms of other Garmins (eg there is no option to monitor your workouts if they are Pilates/yoga etc, just "breathwork" or "strength" which return inaccurate results). It also constantly needs to be reconnected to your phone to update itself, to the point that mine now shows the wrong time if it's not been connected to my mobile, which seems entirely ridiculous given that it's meant to be a watch. Its battery life isn't great - need to charge at least once a day. Perhaps the most annoying thing about it though is that the red and green lights on its underside, which are presumably part of the subpar sensors it uses to monitor physical activity, are very conspicuous because of its slim shape. They flash constantly and it's a distraction to myself and others - so much so that someone in the cinema asked me if I could turn off my phone but it was just the watch's flickering sensor. It's a significant amount of money for me and I wish I'd spent it on something else

Disappointing Smart Watch
I bought the first watch for my wife after she gave me a Garmin Venu 2 for my birthday. I've read the reviews and nearly all of them were good, sadly our experience wasn't. The first watch grossly over counted steps and wouldn't maintain the same watch face each time you checked it. Another problem was accessing the settings the same way twice. So we returned the watch to the store and ordered a replacement. The new one lasted 3 days. It was ok for the first day but on day 2 it set off the find my phone alarm all by itself and that took a while to turn off. Day 3 it just stopped working altogether. We are really disappointed because my wife said that the watch was really comfortable hence the one star.
