[Rewarded Review] Missing Safety Feature

The Lasko 1500 watt tower heater provides effective and quiet warmth, with an optional oscillation feature. It comes with a remote control (batteries not included) that allows access to all heater functions. However, the lack of an automatic shut-off if the heater is tipped over is concerning, as is the overall stability of the assembled heater tower (feels wobbly to me). Additionally, the power cord can become warm to the touch when operating the heater on the highest setting for extended periods. Due to these safety issues, this heater should not be left unattended, especially around pets, children or careless adults.

[Rewarded Review] Lasclko portable heater

I got the Lasko Ceramic Heater. Assembly was quick and easy, probably took less than 10 minutes to open and assemble. It is a nice heater with remote control you can turn the heat on or off and adjust temperature and how long the unit runs, with the remote. I like that it's portable and easy to move for room to room. The wife gets cold easy so I'm sure it will get plenty off use.

I like the size and that it is quiet and heated quickly. Im disappointed that the front of the heater is hot to the touch.

These heaters have a history of being doodoo

The first one only worked about 10 times max. The second one we are 99.9999% positive was an old defective unit that was wrapped back up and put back in the box and someone did not quality check before selling it again. The screws on it were rusted in places, stripped, there was mud caked in cracks. I didnt even notice that at first, just some off red dust . We wipped it off and turned it on to let the new burn off. Well.. it did not. it just kept getting worse. That electrical fire burnt plastic smell. we took it in a large open room with the door open and a fan pointed at it so the chemicals would blow outside and the heater would stay cool enough to stay running at high heat to finish burning the new off. keeping an eye on it anf having to open all windows and doors, 2 and a half hours later with it running at max heat... it had not gotten the new smell off. It was only getting stronger. I went ahead and called lasko at this point. I would have taken it right back to sams at that point but we desperatly needed a heater and they were out of stock. Lasko looked it up for us and said they would replace it this one time with in 7 to 10 days. here we are 20 days later... no word, no heater. its now reaching mid 80s outside and there isnt much use for the thing for the rest of this season. We ended up getting kinda desperate and decided to do a serious clean on the unit to see if maybe it was just tons of factory dust sitting inside the heater. Thats when i noticed we were given someones defective old heater. I was able to get the screws outand pop the cover off so the heater could be properly cleaned. it was gently dusted with microfiber and light suction. Then we used a plug in air compressor the kind used to clean out small electronics like heaters and computers. no signs of dust or dirt in it at all after that. we did notice that a few of the heaters metal coils were actually smashed together at this point. very strange as there is no way for that to happen unless someone had taken it all apart and had that part actually detached from its casing. Not wanting to mess with anything that could make it work worse we put the clean cover back on the now dusted unit. turned it back on and crossed fingers. There was no indications of melting plastic, or burning wires at all. Thought it was perfect for about 3 minutes. It was pushing more heat, but very quickly begane to emmit the same chemical gross smell as before and the longer it was on, even with ventalation, the worse it got. never had a lasko smell like this. All new heaters or dirty heaters have a burn off smell at first or when taken out of storage. This went way beyond. Absolutley not safe to use even when its with in line of site because if it doesnt catch fire, youll choke on the chemical smell . We were very cold for the next 15 days. Its now all the sudden decided in our neck of the woods that it is going to go straight from freezing temps, to 85 in the day time. and again, we now have no use for the replacement we should have gotten over a week again. no word from lasko. very disapointing. Now that its no longer a sought after item since its pretty much summer, ill take it back up to sams as at least sams if very awesome about standing behind products they distribute. If you bought it there, they will exchange that puppy if the one that came from them isnt doing right. Too bad the manufacture left us hanging though. Dont get this model Lasko in particular. they all seem to have issues. i forgot to mention that my mother also had issues with this model as well. Over all 3 units. One worked maybe 10 times of being plugged in and turned on . The second started a fire in the wall socket! (yes it was the correct socket for it) and now this used and abused defective unit producing a noxious smell that is not dirt or wires. -2/10 doo doo

Overwhelming, headache causing, heater smell,

I have purchased Lasko Space Heaters in the past and was totally satisfied with them. This heater however, I returned as it emitted the worst smell, over entire house and gave me a bad headache. I turned it off after 30 minutes and turned back in later, thinking could be initial operating, unit smell. Smell was worse and lingered in house for two days. Headache was bad, had to wonder if smell could have been carcinogenic, burning plastic/wires. Sadly returned it, was hoping it would be solution to this could, drafty apartment, in these subzero temps. I’ll try a different one, in future and hopefully get same results as previous Lasko purchase. Thank you!

POOR HEATER

Very poor!!! A new electric heater always smells a little for about 10 minutes or so when you first run it that's normal burning off some dust and such but this on stinks! I ran it twice in my garage for 30 minutes at least and it smelled up the whole room a really pungent awful smell. I've had lasko heaters purchased quite a while ago and they were fine, still operating . I dont know whats going on with this one or possibly the company's manufacturing techniques but I'm returning it and I won't buy any more lasko heaters in the future !

Not a great buy

This does get warm, but the fan is weak and doesn't push the heat out very far. Bought for my home office to keep the chill out of he air, but you need it right on top of you to feel the heat. My last Lasko would heat the whole office in no time at all. This one has been running for over an hour and my fingers are still chilled.

Horrible smell

We have purchased a heater exactly like this one a couple years ago with no problems. But this one is terrible!!!! We are going to return it!! As soon as you plug it in it smells up the house like melting plastic or something. Tried letting it run a few hours to see if it improved but it was no better. That can’t be healthy to breath in. Very disappointed with it. The ones in the past were good. But these are terrible. Don’t recommend this one!!

Lasko 32" Heater

Pro... It heats great and like the rotation of it. Cons..it smells very bad when on , sort of like burning wires. The stand was very cheap and thin plastic. I wanted to return it but box was thrown out with Christmas paper and boxes. I will use it if needed but might be getting a replacement soon due to the smell gives me headache. I do not like giving bad reviews but this one not worth your money.

Another great lasko heater!

I have bought lasko heaters in various sizes from Sam’s club. I keep them in the bedrooms as they will quickly warm up a room. The remote control is a big help if you get to hot you can lower the temp, turn off the rotating feature or set the timer. Great price and great value for the money. I would definitely recommend!

Great Heater Plus Great Features!

Having read reviews on this tower heater before purchasing it, it behooves me to write my own reviews. Very good heater with enviable features that work splendidly well. It heats well and the oscillating mechanism is spectacular. The plastic-like smell disappears after a few uses, but you can spray a desirable (lavender?) house spray around it to drown out the unpleasant smell on the first few uses. Great for its price at Sam’s Club. Highly recommended…you are likely to be pleased!

Worst heater ever

After taking out of the box and plugging in, the heater put out a fowl odor. This lasted for a few uses. (We have a room air cleaner that helped remove the smell). Isolates well and has a nice responsive remote. Very quiet as though the fan is nonexistent. Very poor ability to heat the air. To feel the heat you basically have to bestanding right in front of the unit (approximately 6" away). No matter what temperature I set it at it always went back to 65 deg F. Even after cranking up the thermostat to 76 deg F, it still would not heat the room. Needless to say it's a waste of money. My recommendation is Do NOT purchase! This unit is going back and I'm looking elsewhere to purchase a tower heater.

Heats well but has no fan only setting

Other reviews said this item had a horrible smell (like burning plastic). That did go away after using it a bit. I'd recommend turning it on outside or in a garage for the first use to get the smell out of it before using it inside the house. It heated very well, but the base should be bigger to make it more stable. It hasn't tipped over but is very unstable if you bump into it. The one thing I was disappointed with was it didn't have a fan only setting. It wouldn't have been hard to make a switch that turned the heat on and off so you could use it as a regular fan in the summer. Every other tower heater I have, has a fan only setting so I never bothered to check for that.

Received a used heater opposed to a new heater

The item I received was previously used. My brother ordered the same item and his heater base and remote control came in a plastic bag. My base and remote, we're not in plastic bags they were just shoved down in the side of the box. Plus the remote control I received was different than the one he received. And there were batteries in the remote control and generally batteries are never shipped already in a remote control. I had to return the item and the return function would not allow me to replace it because that's all I want to do is just replace it with a non-used heater. I used a gift card to purchased the item originally and the refund would only go back to the initial gift card which I no longer have because the gift card was only for $50 and the heater was more than that so there was nothing else left on the gift card so I threw it away. So I had to deal with Walmart customer service to figure out how do I get that $50 back to my account and not on the original gift card. So it's just been a frustrating process all because an item that I ordered that I thought would be new but used and shipped out to me.

Dangerous

I normally don`t write reviews, but due to the issue I felt I needed to. I purchased one. It worked fine so I purchased another, both with warrantie`s. The only thing bad at first was the digital reading was about 4 degree`s off from actual room temp. but you can compensate for that. I then purchased another for a family member. The electronics on all of these went bad between 1 and 2 mo.s. At any given time during the night or whenever, they will just keep running even if 10 deg over . I was woken twice with the temp over 90! You have to set them under 68 to ensure keeping them from going over 90-! I replaced all of them with the warrantee`s, except the last one (I got a refund) and the replacements all lasted about the same then did the same thing! The high and low mode works fine, but you 100% can not depend on the temp control to turn them off. Also if set lower, they will try to start when the temp drops but won`t, till way below the set temp, then they will finally turn on. I see them as very dangerous as far as that mode goes. I have since purchased different brand heaters elsewhere and have had no problems.

The smell

This heater seems to be pretty good for our bedroom, but the smell is so strong. I noticed the smell immediately after opening the box but with all new things there a chance for that new smell. I figured once used the smell will fade. Nope we are on day 3 of using it and the smell is just as strong . It's so bad i have to turn it off because it gives us a headache. You can smell it throughout our whole house when the heater is running. When not running you can still smell it in our room. I think it's a great heater for small spaces or bedrooms if you can get passed the smell. Not sure yet if we'll return it for a different one or not.

This Heater has an odor to it.

I have two other Lasko Heater that was bought about 3 yrs ago. They are great for a small room. HOWEVER - This heater has a strong plastic odor. I thought it was because it was new. So I put it in the garage to air out and ran it a couple hours each day. I thought the odor was going away until I turned it on. Again is had a strong plastic odor that filled the garage. I took it back and was going to get another one, but when I opened the box inside the store you could smell that plastic odor. Not for me.

Skinny tower heater perfect for dorms/tight spots

This is a very lightweight, skinny heating "tower." Our child is a freshman in a cold climate & they don't heat the buildings until the temps dip below 45 degrees. The room is tiny but this unit sits in her window sill ( her bed is high up) and works great, is attractive in black & hardly takes up any room. It puts out a good amount of heat & even has an optional oscillation setting. The skinny tower in a dorm room is the way to go! Her favorite part: the remote control. She can make it warmer or turn it down, without getting out from under the covers! The unit is rather quiet. I almost wish though, that it had a "white noise" setting to buffer outside noise & help create a sleep mood.
