BROKEN WAS SHIPPED

I ORDERED 3 LIGHTS , ALL 3 LIGHTS WERE BROKEN, TOOK IT TO WALLMART FOR RETURN. TOLD BY THE RETURN DESK, WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THESE LIGHTS, WE WILL SHIP IT BACK AND THE 3RD PARTY SELLER WILL DECIDE TO RETURN THE MONEY. AS OF THIS DAY HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REFUND OF THE LIGHTS.

Bought this fixture to replace a 20 year old Lithonia flourescent ceiling light. Was very pleased to find that it fit perfectly into the same location. The mounting holes were identical. The ballast is now electronic. The tube holders are a better quality.

4 ft. Flourescent/LED Light

Simple to install and works like a champ. I used two toggle bolts in the ceiling to anchor the base and then wired up the leads and the ground using three wire nuts and the supplied ground screw. I snapped the center cover in, test fit the bulbs and then put the acrylic cover on. Start to finish - 15 minutes. I used some 1850 lumen LED tubes and the light is excellent.

Simple Efficient Effective Value

Used in garage to complement two others. Basic LED wraparounds. Working well with 32 W T8 LED bulbs. Ordered on-line. Arrived quickly and good condition. Excellent value.

It's a Fluorescent Fixture Bi-pin light. It can be used for either surface or recessed mounting. The steel they are constructed with is very thin. When using the punch outs provided they tend to bend more than just pop out.

DO NOT BUY, diffuser cracks on installation.

The diffuser cover is 1/4” too narrow and definitely will not fit back on the unit once the unit is installed on the ceiling WITHOUT CRACKING!! Many others have said the same thing, see the 3 star and under reviews. The undersized diffuser is very stiff and brittle, and attempts to attach it over the two 48” lips will result in much cursing, the fit is far too tight to go into place and few people will even have the finger strength at ceiling level to attempt to stretch the diffuser over the lip. After many attempts I tried to crimp one of the 48” lips inward with pliers as one reviewer suggested, but still the diffuser refused to attach across the reduced distance. One more try and it cracked length-wise at one end. Now what?? To get a refund the whole unit would have to be detached from the ceiling, ridiculous. This is junk and not worthy of being sold in Home Depot, my long time favorite home outfitter. I should be getting a refund without having to take down this unit with its defective design. Shame on Lithonia lighting who surely knows the unit’s faults.

Decent fixture but be cautious and don't buy a returned item

It's a basic flourescent. I was disappointed as the first fixture purchased was nonfunctioning. After review, it was obviously a return that had been reshelved. This caused an unwarranted delay in the replacement by the electrician. The second fixture, upon opening, was, in comparison to the first, untouched and functions well now that it is installed.

Light worked really well for 16 months and then the ballast went out. Previous lights (different models) lasted 14 years each. Light in garage almost 30 years old. Expected more then this. Bulbs kasted longer than the fixture.

Very Thin material. Lens was found broke in two different boxes we received. One shipped to our home and then when we returned it to the store, got home with another one and it was broke. We brought the same light 16 yrs ago and is was a lot thicker and sturdy, same brand: this light was so thin all the metal frame and plastic lens. We took the ballast out of the new light and installed it in our old light frame, with the old lens threw away this cheap made product.

Cheaply made

I purchased this light fixture to replace an identical one that was apparently 8 years old. This one is constructed of a much thinner metal housing and the fluorescent bulbs are a smaller diameter (T8). What I find to be a bad design flaw is the clear plastic lens that covers the bulbs it has absolutely no flexibility and when I tried installing the lens it cracked. Good luck to everyone purchasing this light I guarantee the majority of people will have the same problem I did.

This is a good light (4 stars at best). This is nothing fancy. Just a regular fixture for a room that does not need a "Designer" style to it. The metal end pieces are kind of flimsy but it does the job. I just needed a light for the laundry room and didn't want to spend a lot. It is definitely worth the $36 I paid, though. I spent almost as much for the two LED bulbs (Philips 6500K 2 pack) that I purchased to go with this fixture since this does not come with the bulbs. Obviously you can spend less or regular florescent bulbs if you wanted to.

This light replaced a florescent fixture. It is light weight and easy to handle. Installation was easy and took less than 30 minutes including taking down an old fixture and installing this new one. The diffuser spreads the light out over a wide area in a soft glow. Overall it is a very good value. I will buy others in the near future.

Good Value

I installed these to replace some fairly ancient magnetic ballast shop lights in the basement. Installation was straightforward, and easy - though I do recommend having a helper to hold the fixture in place while you screw it in place. And of course always check and recheck the breaker when you are splicing in the wiring. I added some T8 led bulbs, and my partially finished basement rec room is now bright and welcoming. Not as fancy a look as installing canned lighting in the drop ceiling, but it gets the job done.

I needed to replace a two-lamp fixture. The old one had 4-foot, T-12 bulbs and this one has T-8 (not included). To upgrade still more to an LED fixture would have cost about three times the cost of this unit. More importantly, it is very similar in dimensions to the fixture that I replaced while the LED fixtures are much thinner. Therefore, the new one looks almost identical to the other, old fixtures that are still on the ceiling. The only minor negative that I had was that one of the mounting holes that I needed to screw into a stud was under the ballast; so, I had to remove the ballast, install the fixture and then put the ballast back in place.

Excellent light, very bright, easy to install. I would have given it a 5-star rating, except for two issues. First, it had to be shipped to the store for pick up, and it took a while (more than a week). Second, as per other reviews, getting the cover off and then back on is tough. This was a replacement light for the same type I installed about 20 years ago. The new model is lighter, has less metal, and a much smaller ballast (the ballast on the last one failed). Both the older model and the newer model have issues with the cover going on and off. I considered buying the ballast only, but cost was close to the same, and I would have had to wait for shipping anyway.

Lithonia Lighting SB Wraparound Light

Purchased and installed this fixture to replace a 15yr old light of same size. I liked the fact that bolt holes lined up with existing ceiling holes after removing old unit. The connection wires were long enough to make connections easier but also thinner in guage. The ballast in this unit was also considerably smaller and lighter in weight which also made it easier to install. The light bulbs installed easily and the lens fit comfortably snug.

Excellent choice

Looked at several lights at several different stores. Spoke with salesman at Lowes and he recommended this specific light. He advised me he had purchased this item and was very satisfied with the quality, the power of the light, and the price. I took his recommendation and would recommend this light also to other buyers. The other stores had lower quality lights for twice the price of what I paid for this light. It lights up my garage perfectly with twice the light that I originally had and also no bulbs to worry about. Great product as always at Lowes plus I receive my 10% military discount on top of the bargain price.

I bought two of these lights for a customer. My electrician installed the lights and when he went to put the lense on both covers were broken on the sides, a corner chip was broken off. He suggested that I go back to home Depot and buy two more lights, with good covers and exchange them. He was not going to take them down after all the work he did to intall them. Instead I exchanged the lenses with my own covers that are in my basement and gave the customer my good ones. The only thing I can suggest is when you buy these lights, open the package in the store and make sure the lense are not broken.

Inexpensive for a reason. It's a piece of Chinese made junk. Other people have commented on difficulty installing or removing lamp tubes. That's because the dimensions are just enough off that the pins on the tubes don't fit correctly into the sockets, which are cheap and flimsy to start with. I broke or bent the pins of 4 tubes before I finally got some installed. Chinese quality control STILL is not up to par. But what choice do we have? Everything is made there.
