[Rewarded Review] First time finishing a wood floor

I used Minwax Ultra fast drying Polyurethane “satin” on a 47 year old parquet floor. The result was incredible! I first sanded the floor and applied the first coat. I repeated this 3 times to do 3 coats. The floor looks brand new and is now protected for years to come!

Excellent Sealer for Old Finishes

This poly went on easily over an old floor that had several kinds of old finishes. It hardened quickly and is staying put.

Great results! Followed the directions on the can, turned out as expected. Not sure about all the negative reviews. Bots?

[Rewarded Review] Great product for DIYers.

I pulled carpet off of my floor, and found 65 year old unfinished hardwood. I sanded and finished the floors going by the instructions I found on the MINWAX website. They turned out beautiful.

Surface prep is key

Pretty easy to apply with the correct applicator - lamb’s wool pad. Drying times were about 4 hours for first coat and a bit less for second coat; close to times listed in the instructions. Odor was pretty strong, but clear after a couple of days. We’ll have to see how it holds up.

It has been over a month since we applied this polyurethane on our floors, we kept the temperature and humidity at were was instructed on the can. The floor dried quickly but it seems to still be off gassing. The fumes are still there to the point where it's unbearable to live in the house, it is extremely irritating and I'm concerned for my young children and pets as I'm unsure how much is being off gassed. We are staying with my parents while the house is empty trying to figure out what to do.

Toxic/overwhelming smell

I used this product on my dining floor and the smell was more than awful, we left for 3 days when we came back the smell and off gassing were overwhelming and extremely irritant for me ( not as much for my husband and kids) however it did dry as said but smell continued one week later so we did call 4 hardwood floor companies and they told us ( all of them) this product is the worst for the smell and health no one used it! We had to have professionally completely sand off and redone with BONA ,If you are sensitive stay out of this product!

Unbearable smell and off-gassing

As soon as we put this finishing on the floor the off- gassing and smell was awful and extremely irritant. We left the house 3 days and the smell was still very irritant and overwhelming, we ventilate and made sure we had the proper temperature , the air was more breathable but this smell was horrible. We did called 4 companies and they all told us that this products was the worst on the market for smell and off-gassing no professional use it. After one week we are have our floor professionally redone and this horrible product was remove and BONA will be used instead!! Stay away from this TOXIC product, and shame on Sherrington William to not carry better product or falling at providing proper info about their product. However the product had dried as advertised but the smell continued!

Waste of Money

Followed all directions. Mixed well and applied with lambswool applicator. Applied 3 coats within specified time. Came out blotchy and uneven. Dull and semi-gloss areas next to each other. I don't know if this product has been discontinued, as it is not featured prominently on Minwax's website, but it should be. A total wast of $300 dollars.

A Waste of Money

Followed all directions. Mixed well and applied with lambswool applicator. Applied 3 coats within specified time. Came out blotchy and uneven. Dull and semi-gloss areas next to each other. Some floor boards got a purple tinge after this was applied. I don't know if this product has been discontinued, as it is not featured prominently on Minwax's website, but it should be. A total waste of $300 dollars.

Result is terrible

I bought the product from Lowe's last week. it's oil-based satin. I have slightly worn out hardwood floors in the office room. I decided to refinish small area of about 25 sq ft. by slightly buffing the floor with 100 grit sandpaper and apply the polyurethane with foam the brush. The result is terrible.

unsafe odor

My husband used this product on new pine flooring in our grandchild’s nursery. Two months later, we still have a toxic smell in the room, and we believe the room is unsafe for sleeping, We have used fans, ventilation, an air purifier, and pans of baking soda to no avail. This product is horrible.
