Best Camping Lights Ever!

I've had these lights for about four years now and I never go camping without them! I've really put them through the wringer and they still work perfectly. The colors are all beautiful and I love the color changing mode. They last for a surprisingly long time and even in the Pacific Northwest, the solar panel charges the lights during the day so they can run all night. I also love that you can use them to charge your phone in a pinch.

Such Ambience

I purchased these after seeing them at a neighbour's campsite. They really caught my eye and I loved how they gave not only light but a bit of ambience to their campsite. I also plan on using these at home on our back deck just for the fun of it, so they will work just about anywhere. The case is portable enough not to take up too much space if you're car camping.

Almost perfect

I ordered two of the 16' string lights. They work well, compact, and bright enough for my needs. I'll be hanging them on the back of my boat. My boat does not have 12v or 110AC outlets in the back deck, so they will be great; especially with good battery life. However, I have to rate it down because the charge port is a USB mini plug. No one uses those old style USB any longer. I have to now buy a new wall charger and 12v charger for my boat. Everything I own is USB-C.

Party lights!

Second time I've bought this product. This time with colour changing lights for my daughter. We use them on camping trips, backyard fun, play-house, etc, etc, etc. Great product.

Charming and versatile

This handy gadget unwinds into an impressive string of lights with a choice of colors. Rechargeable power comes from solar or plug-in sources. As a bonus, it can recharge your phone or other usb devices as well. Great for camping but I also intend to use it on our patio, and even indoors at Christmas. Safe, attractive, and sustainable. I bought a second one as a gift.

Very easy to charge via USB and the charging port is protected by a silicone cover. We let it cycle through the different colours; the transitions were very soothing. Light cable is very well made and durable, featuring mini hooks which can be used as anchoring points. It was extremely easy to wind back up and store. I am very pleased with this purchase. It added a lovely ambiance to our tent.

Tis the winter of my disco tent!

We are huge fans of the inflatable lanterns (we own 5). We had used some battery powered string lights, but batteries die, and the lights were kit that bright. These solve both problems!! Bright, colorful lights that change color! Can you say "THATS SUPER RAD!!"? Can also be used as a small solar power bank for recharging? Sign me up!! Just wait for dark, fire'em up and get yo woods party started!!!!

Greatest invention ever for camping overnight

The girls loved the first Luci Color Solar String Lights so much that I had to go back and purchase a second one. They string it along the front entrance of their tent and that lights everything up. The second string is for inside the tent. In camping over the years I saw that portable rechargeable battery LED lighting is absolutely essential for overnight camp trips with friends and family. The Luci string lights provide a little bit of color and just enough illumination to make camping feel like home. Before we had lights for our campsite the only lighting we had was from a campfire and from flashlights, having Luci Color Solar String lights illuminates the entire campsite and it feels much warmer and its much easier getting things done around the campsite when its dark, we can see everything and it just makes everything much easier when most of the campsite has lights at night. Our campsite looks great at night and looks lived in even when everything else around is pitch-black. The string conveniently wraps around the inside of the housing and then the housing closes around the string and then into a backpack. As other reviewers have noted, I have found that the solar charging method is not reliable. If you read the directions closely enough, it says you need direct sunlight for something like 20 hours to fully recharge the light - even when I put the Luci String light directly into the sun for the entire morning to late afternoon daylight hours, it still doesn't charge not even one bar. And the lights are essential at nighttime, once you have a campsite workflow that is based on the assumption of having these lights above your head, you can't go back to a dark campsite again - so I take care to ensure that i have a charging cable with us and another way to charge the Luci each day, whether its an external battery pack or solar or portable generator or other way. It's still 5 stars despite the apparent flaw with the solar charging feature.

Beautiful!

WOW. All I expected and MORE! I have had the white string lights for a few years, got during COVID when taking care of my senior mom in her home. Loved all the uses for them indoors! Nice ambiance light. Also nice for me when I went to bed early, nice light if needed but easy to turn off. I had planned to use them on the porch ... they have remained inside! Finally got the colored ones during a good sale - WOW! Even more fun ambiance light! Intended for older single garage to just have pleasant glow in there for winter nights .... Still haven't made it out there. I'm sure once I set up the panel for the garage, I will love having the soft glow with no electric use : ) Happy Customer!

Perfect for glamping trips (and other uses)

I really like the Luci Solar products. I have a couple of the collapsible solar lights which are a staple of my lightweight camping trip setup. I purchased the string lights to see what they are about. Charges easy, easy to string up and pack. I have been using it for when we rent yurts or cabins at provincial parks. The lights provide excellent ambiance. Highly recommended.

Practical and well put together

Works like a charm. Wanted some rugged string lights for hot tenting and off grid cabin rentals. After going through 2 sets of battery powered string lights that broke, wanted something more durable. ​This worked perfectly. Would be nice if it had a slightly larger internal battery, considering it can be used as a powerpack to charge USB devices. However, it is still nice to have it as a backup solar charger on hand.

Perfect for camping AND when the electricity is out

We have used the string lights camping, and always loved them. What prompted me to write this review, though, is after waking up to no electricity in my house this morning. I grabbed our solar lights that had been sitting in a dark cabinet for a couple of months. They lit up bright! We strung them around our small kitchen and had the coziest morning. I'm back on here getting more solar lights as these are a life saver when the electricity is out, and you have small kids to get ready for school.

Great lights for camping!!!

I bought this set of string lights to light up my tent on camping trips. This is great for anyone who wants to have the option of portable lights without the hassle of bringing a large lantern. Charging is simple and the lights last for hours. I love the flashlight option it has - really bright. The colors are very subtle, and because they're LED they don't get hot or blare into your eyes. I am going to order another set, maybe two because they are so amazing!

The newer model Luci string light comes in a box that isn't quite as neat a package as the first one I bought (warm yellow lights with the black control unit) but performs essentially the same, with the added functionality of multiple colours in the cool range (red, purple, open white, pink etc). Shutting the unit proved difficult initially, but after a few goes it closes and locks without too much hassle. Daisy chaining these units together is something I'm keen to try out, and the USB recharge function is very useful. The solar panel works but not enough to fully charge the unit in one day. Also the plastic tends to warp slightly if left in direct sunlight during Australian summer conditions (40°C plus) so be judicious in your placement.

Instant Mood Lifter :)

We love these lights for both outdoor and indoor use. They are high quality, and the string is sturdier & longer and has more lights than any other solar string lights I've looked at. The little hooks work great. The charge lasts for hours. Solar charging takes a long time of strong, direct sunlight (seems like most of the day where we are), but electric charging is quite fast. Super convenient to bring along, set up, and take down anywhere-we drape them over the hammocks while camping or hanging out at the park and over the deck, bed, or sofa at home. I'm getting another one to give as a gift and will likely get a second for myself sometime, too.

Wonderful

I LOVE these string lights! My only two complaints (and I have already sent an email with these as suggestions) are: 1) another way to power them off and on. That could be a remote, a Bluetooth app, or even just another control button at the end of the string. 2) a soft white/orange/yellow color. I vastly prefer this as I have sensory issues and ordered the colored lights over the white ones because I didn't want just a bright white. There are some nice colors but that would be my go to! I will order another set (probably 2 or 3 more) if these changes are ever made. As it is right now, the string lights are the perfect lighting for cuddling up in the tent with my kindle, my hubby, and our big dogs.

Is Solar Energy a Scam?

I purchased the colored string lights. I've had it sitting out in the direct sun for days. No charge so far. But, maybe living at altitude in a sunny state is not the right location for these things (Albuquerque New Mexico....not new, not mexico). This is the second Solar Powered device I have had and neither one would take power from the sun(I'm starting to think it is personal!). If it was just advertised as a usb device, it would be ok. But, from my experience so far, it seems to have been misrepresented. I will come back and update my review as soon as it is shows that it charged some from the sun!
