I installed this Mr Cool system myself. It was not difficult at all. Two options for placing the outside unit by placing it on a pad or using a wall bracket. The inside unit is light and also easy to install. This complete unit comes with the power cord for the inside unit, drain line and refrigerant lines. The outside unit is charged with the correct amount of refrigerant to charge the complete system. You must purchase an A/C power disconnect. Power to the inside unit is supplied thru the provided power cord thru the outside unit. This is a clean install. The outside and inside units are very quiet. Purchased in June, picked up in July from the store, installed and put into service on 8/9/24.

"Mr Cool Mini Split: Unmatched Comfort and Efficiency!"

I recently purchased the Mr Cool Mini Split System, and I'm thrilled with its performance! Premium Home Source was excellent with communication and delivery. The installation was a breeze, and the system quickly transformed my space into a comfortable oasis. The sleek design and quiet operation exceeded my expectations. It's energy-efficient and provides precise temperature control. I highly recommend the Mr Cool Mini Split for anyone looking for a reliable and efficient heating/cooling solution.

Not for a DIYer

This product leads you to believe that it is the DIY kit from Mr. Cool, it is not and there very few companies that if any that will install this product for the end customer. Most people won't even deal with Mr. Cool products. That aside if you are capable of tackling in the install project yourself. This is not a bad price for a 24k unit, but there are others on the market that are much cheaper for the same thing that are not diy kits. Felt like a bait and switch but, I must take some blame for not researching enough.

Hoping and praying for MR COOL

I purchased this MRCOOL because friends said it was so good. The Heating and air conditioner men just installed it and handed me a sheet of paper included in the box that said the compressor is only warranted for 1 year VERY SCARY To spend all that money and now find that the warranty is only for 1 year. Wish they had showed me that before they installed it. It started up great. Very hopeful it will continue to work for more than a year. I might add that they are charging me more to install the unit than I paid for it.

Great product, needs longer warranty.

I absolutely Love my mini-split! Everyone there at Mr. Cool was soo helpful. Even with the shipping delays early in the shipping crisis, they worked tirelessly to get me my product. Communication was great too! The unit itself was really easy to install, though it would be nice if they took the time to Americanize the instructions. For the most part, they are clear, but there were several very nebulous areas. A bigger issue was that they aren't entirely model-specific. My unit did not come with a mounting template as other models apparently do. There is also a lack of feet to raise the unit enough for the drain assembly that the instructions do not make clear whether it is even necessary or not. My AC tech said they never install them in CA. Additionally, the unit only comes with a one-year warranty which is frustrating as other companies offer 2 and 3-year warranties. I chose and purchased before I was informed about the warranties. The unit itself is clean and works amazingly. I LOVE the ability to turn it on with Siri literally anywhere! I can be at work 30 miles away and tell Siri to turn it on, and it works every time! My ac is nice and cold when I get home. The heater works nicely as well but has only had a couple of chilly days that I've needed it so far. I also bought the line set covers, which were also installed easily and painted really well. I caulked all the openings to keep the critters out. I wish though that there was a better solution for line set covers when it leaves the building and connects to the actual compressor outside. Overall 5 stars and would definitely purchase again.

Works Great

The unit works great. The android app makes it easy to control from any place you have a phone connection. I like the FP (freeze Protection) mode as this is not living space, but has plumbing that I dont want to freeze. I had some issues with the installation instructions. The mounting bracket, purchased thru IWAE, had very sparse installation instructions. I installed it on a building with metal siding and the instructions made no mention of this. Also between the mounting kit and the unit kit I ended up with 2 sets of rubber pads. Instructions only reference to these was that rubber pads my be used to reduced vibration. Which ones? Through which holes? No mention of what to do with the drain hose once its outside. This was my first install of one of these systems so I tried to follow the instructions precisely and ended up at a dead end several times not knowing what to do. Their help system was great. I didn't try it on the weekend, but during the week you call, leave some information and the purchase and the problem, and they call back with answers within 30 minutes.

12K BTU Scratch and Dent Advantage

The "scratch and dent" heat pump unit arrived quickly, installation was relatively straight forward and easy. The compressor unit "damages" were almost not noticeable. I had to look hard for any apparent damages and the unit was fine for my needs. The installation manual for the compressor was missing but I called for detailed directions to make the final electrical and the unit was soon blowing cold air, humidity is still decreasing after a few hours. So far, my rating is ten out of ten. I am making plans to buy a two or three zone unit in the near future. Thanks guys!

Quiet and cold, but poor temperature control

This unit was easy to set up, the parts were light, and it was a good fit for my 325sqft master suite. It gets VERY cold, and is very quiet indoors. Wi-Fi is excellent, and included - other companies make you pay, so that was a huge plus.

5 Stars

Awesome unit. Had an area of the house that was consistently and significantly hotter than the rest no matter what the thermostat was set to. Contractor put it in in a matter of a few hours and the problem was solved. Runs very quietly in the area where the air handler is installed. Everything appears to be of good quality, controls work as expected. Energy usage is in line with expectations and the cost of entry couldn't be beat. A 24000 BTU Fujitsu had been quoted by an HVAC contractor for around 4.5k installed, all the same basic specs as this unit. This was less than 1200 shipped and found a reasonably priced installer which made grand total less than 2k. All in all, very satisfied.

Please read before investing in a mini split! I bought this and installed it completely DIY and the unit so far works great and I am happy with the quality thus far. This unit does require you to evacuate the lines with a vacuum pump prior to releasing the charge in the outdoor unit. I have a strong technical background but had no real background in HVAC. I spent a couple months educating myself and I purchased quit a bit of HVAC tools before attempting the install. This unit has 3/8" and 5/8" outside diameter copper lines that run between the inside and outside unit. The 3/8" is quite simple to bend by hand even fairly tight bends without kinking the tubing if you are very careful. The 5/8" tubing that comes with the unit has a knurling around it of sorts in order to make it more pliable to bend, which I was not a huge fan of. In my case I needed a 25' line set instead of the 16' line set that came with it so my new line set was just smooth copper like normal HVAC tubing. The 5/8" line is much harder to bend and is much harder to avoid kinking. I purchased a fairly expensive bending tool to help me with that task. The disadvantage is you have to remove the insulation around the line temporarily in order to use the bender and then replace the insulation and make sure to wrap it tightly with good quality vinyl wrap. I wish I had done more homework before purchasing this unit. Even though I am fairly happy with the quality, the problem is that these are basically throw away units. There is no website or dealer that I have found that will sell you parts for these units. There is one website on the web claiming to be the "Official Mrcool website". However, after speaking with these folks they stated they will not provide technical support or parts sales to anyone unless they buy the units directly from them. Mrcool itself does not have any contact information if you have an issue or even a warranty claim. Although they do allow you to register your warranty online at their website, this basically means nothing because there is no way to file a warranty claim or get parts that I can see anyways. I even tried my local HVAC supply houses that can get parts for many other units. If I were to install another unit I would probably go with LG because I see there are some supply houses online that offer parts for those mini splits and there is some documentation online that I have found for them for servicing. Please know that if you are going to install this yourself, you will need other items besides what comes with it. Things like an outdoor pad or patio blocks for outside unit to sit on, a disconnect box for power next to the unit, a service whip(power pigtail) that runs from disconnect to unit, a vacuum pump, manifold gauge set, possibly a flaring tool if your going to cut the line set shorter. I purchased a nitrogen tank and regulator in order to blow out my lines after flaring them in order to remove and copper filings left in them from deburring them. I also used the nitrogen to purge the lines and inside unit of air and moisture before hooking up the final flare connection, a product called "nylog- blue" is something I used on the flare seats in order to help them seal and it worked good for me. I also purchased a line set cover that conceals the lines running down my walls giving them a clean look. Even though I spent quite a bit of money on HVAC tools and supplies to install this, I still saved over what it would have cost me to have a local HVAC company come to my home and install a similar unit. This main difference is that I have tools and supplies to show for my cost when I am done. That being said, please only tackle this job if you are very comfortable and knowledgeable about electrical power and the dangers of working with air conditioners. In my case, I also studied and passed the EPA 608 certification which only costs around *** . This gives me the ability to buy refrigerant locally in case the unit would ever need any and also made me feel more comfortable tackling this project.

Great for the garage

I spend a lot of time in my garage and was heating it with a pellet stove and kerosene heaters and found that to be time consuming and expensive. I don't usually keep it heated when I am not using it so to heat the garage it takes time to get the pellet stove running and for the garage to heat up. So I bought the Mrcool 36000 diy mini split. I am a Electo- Mechanical Technician so the install was simple for me but this unit is heavy so I suggest help and to consult an electrician on your local codes. The install took about two and a half hours with help not encluding the electrical which I had done on the previous day and it could not be any simpler. The hardest part is hanging the airhandler thats where you need help pulling the tubing through plus i installed the condenser on a side mount bracket and needed help lifting it on. After the install I turned it on and could not believe how quite and hot the air was. I also tested the cooling and now will have the coolest garage in town. The ability to control this unit using the app on my android phone from anywhere is great. I can turn the unit on before I got into the garage and have it heated or cold and ready to go. I suggest this unit to anyone who needs to heat a garage or larger area. The only thing that could be improved on is that this unit requires a 35 amp circuit feeding it and the electrical terminals in the outside unit are to small for 8 awg wire so most do it yourselfers are not going to have the equipment to crimp on the one hole connectors required to make the connection so an electrician might be required to do the connection.

Easy install, quiet

I finally got to install this unit. All the rain in the past several months delayed construction. I was doing a sunroom addition on our house and a split unit was the best option. I opted to place the indoor unit above the new fireplace so as to not take away from the window space, then I put the condenser unit on the outside on the backside of the fireplace so as not to be seen from the inside. The indoor unit was placed as close to the ceiling as recommended, then was stoned around it with enough room to conduct maintenance. Very quite operation on both indoor and outdoor unit. In fact, most of the time you have to stand where it is blowing to even see if it on.

supper(scary) quiet

install is simple for the most part, found a way to install on interior wall because exterior wall was bad location for outside unit. (housing district maintains air units must be installed in rear of building) would be nice if you could buy extentions for piping to go 50 foot. Unit performs well so far keeps room at 70 day or night and really never hear it running. even outside condenser is very quiet.electric bill has doubled using 2 units but it has saved me 600 dollars in gas usage when calculated out. Did I mention that it's very quiet, had trouble falling asleep first couple nights not hearring furnace kick on and sound like a diesel truck, always afraid pilot may go out and fill home with gas. These units run scary quiet. Hope they can handle constant running though. don't think they've ever turned off. Really can't tell for how quiet they run. Have told and shown several neighbors and they have purchased their own now

Easy install

I installed my unit astound one month ago. The install process is easy, and the hook up between the head unit and the condenser is very simple. The unit is doing very well in our home. It is quiet, effective and good looking. We did have one issue with the unit. Upon starting the unit up, I found that the unit would only put out a/c temperatures. I thought that this was going to be a big problem dealing with this getting fixed, but I was wrong. I contacted Ingram's through email and I got response from the tech services. The tech was knowledgeable and ran me through a quick restart series to try. When this did not work, the tech let me know that he would send out a whole new unit or I could have a local HVAC tech come out and diagnose/fix the issue...... And ingram's would reimburse all costs. I chose to have a local tech come out. The tech came, found that the connection on the reversal valve was not made. The tech fixed the situation inside of an hour, we started it up and it's been producing great for us since. Besides the small hiccup with the reversal valve wire, the unit and the tech support has been great.

Thank goodness for DIY

We have a 1000 sq ft cathedral ceiling 1965 beach cottage in SC that was Too HOT in the summer and cold in the winter, thanks to incorrect sizing of our original contractor installed mini split system. After already paying for an inflated price for the original unit and installation, we were thrilled to find the Mr. Cool DIY system. We ordered a 1 ton from the Home Depot, but decided that we needed the 1.5, so we returned it and ordered the 1.5 online. It came and we installed it. Getting the air handler hung evenly and making the access hole was a little challenging, but I must say that we got it installed in one day. We did line hide on day two. It is just what we needed. Our little cottage is so much cooler (and warmer in the winter). I wish I had known about this unit before we contracted for the contractor installed unit. Also, we were impressed with the warranty offered for the DIY unit and hope that we never need it!

Very easy Install and nice unit

After a lot of careful research, I decided there was no real magic in being able to install a ductless unit to keep my garage cool in the summer. My Mr. Cool unit was just the thing I needed. Now the video makes the install look like it takes 20 minutes, and I am here to tell you this realistically does take a little planning, and a little time to install, but if you do your homework, the install is more physical than technical. The hardest part is making sure you are boring the hole in the right place cause let's face it, no one wants a 3 inch hole in their wall. Once you get it all laid out and planed and measured, cut the hole and install the unit. It really is that simple. I started my install around 11am and by 5pm I was as cool as a cucumber. The pre-charged lines are a breeze, and if you plan where you are going to install the outside unit, you can usually place it where you can make use of the extra line instead of coiling it up, but either way works fine. Don't kink the lines and you are good to go. This install saved me a bunch, and I recommend the unit to all of my friends. In a hot shop or garage, I recommend over-rating the unit just a bit. I did and it works perfectly for my space. Great home addition.

Easy install, better than I expected

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I didn't even know there was such a thing as a pre-charged mini-split until a friend told me about it. I read up on it, and ordered it from Home Depot. It came in two big boxes.

Simple install

The unit came quickly and survived shipping. The cartons were very durable and protected the unit fine. Set- up was very straight forward. I love that the pressure lines are fully loaded. This truly is a plug and play combo. I am an electrical contractor and the wiring aspect would be the hardest for a DIY. The unit ran flawlessly last summer easily cooling my 1200sq ft first floor ranch. I am using it now in Jan. in PA (18 degrees today)and it heats great too. Only 1 cooling and heating season so far that's why I only gave it a 4 star. If it last for 10 years it would definitely rate 5 stars. I wish the line sets came in different lengths. Haven't used the wifi remote feature yet but it is a plus. Will be ordering a 12k btu unit for my master suite this spring.

Great investment

I have hot water baseboard heat in my house. So when I wanted A/C it was a great option. My upstairs is 1000sq ft. And I use to have a 6000btu window unit running constantly. Which barely kept it cool In the summer. I put the Mrcool 24k advantage unit in my upstairs and it not just kept my upstairs super cold. It also got my whole basement too. Which I have open stairs too. Best part is my electric bill is a little lower than before. And I tried out the heat pump this winter and so far it's saving money over heating oil. Only down side is my basement is still cold because heat rises. Lol My unit should pay for itself in 3-5 years just by saving in the winter over heating oil. I would consider getting a second unit just to heat my basement.

Truly do it yourself install - they don't lie

Well, it's true. It is do it yourself (with some basic skills) and it works. I am fairly handy, and although it took a little while, I got it installed following the instructions and video. It really works well, is super quiet and really cold. All of that is true.
