Don’t bother with this feeder

We bought 2 of these feeders and they have been nothing but a headache. Extremely difficult to program, instructions written by a non-English speaker (I have 1 college degree and my husband has 3). There is no reset button, so if you want to reset anything (time of day, amount of feeding, etc, daylight savings time, etc) it is a huge pain. In order to fully reset, you need to remove the batteries, which are on the bottom of the unit, which is probably also full of pet food, so you have to empty the pet food, then proceed. Not worth the trouble, as there are easier ones on the market.

Works pretty well, but not easy to program.

It recently CHANGED a feed time all on its OWN - from 8 AM to 9 AM. Still haven't figured out the why.The cat loves it. Especially since the feeder seems to give her more food than how I programmed it. But she rarely gorges and purges like she did before, so that's a relief.

Good product, needs better instructions

I liked the product once I got it programmed. Woke up the first morning and had two cups of food in the bowl and floor. But I finally figured it out by trial and error and it works fine. I like not having to get up at six and feed the kitties...

Cat proof and 1/8 cup serving

So far it is working great. First night my cat tried all night to get into the feeder, knocked it over, batted it around the kitchen, she was frustrated. I had to re-prime the feeder, but she didn't get into it. I placed it on a silicone mat. Problem solved. She has now learned to wait for it at feeding time, or run to it when she hears it.

Great product but poor packaging

The feeder is great! The motor burned out on our previous one after 8 years so we ordered a new one. Our only complaint is that the box was ripped open. It should have been placed in a shipping box with padding around it. We were worried that the product may have been damaged but thankfully it was ok.

Not User Friendly

This feeder does what it’s supposed to do - feed your cat automatically at timed intervals. But the set up is so complicated. It has to be done manually by pushing buttons on the feeder.

Multi Cat Household Approved!

We purchased the PetSafe Programmable Cat & Dog Feeder to feed the three felines we have in our home. This feeder makes mealtime so much easier during our normal days. It has also come in handy since purchasing it when we go on small trips and need to have others come and check in on and feed our one cat we leave home when we go camping. Super easy to clean and program and so far it has been running super smoothly. I knew PetSafe was a reputable brand, and this automatic feeder operates in a fashion that makes me want to recommend it to others.

Great product

Having been using this automatic feeder for more than one year. Simple and reliable. I like its design, which allows me to easily disassemble the parts for thorough cleaning.

Good for vacation

Love the fact this feeder can handle feeding our 3 pekingese dogs while we’re away on vacation for 5 days I plan on buying an additional 3 way splitter so all 3 bowls can be filled once per day. Hopefully nothing gets clogged up that’s the only concern I have.

Programming is Too Complicated

I'm very frustrated with this purchase right now because of how complicated it is to set the appropriate feeding schedule. You must choose between 24 or 12 hour time periods and if you choose the wrong one you end up with portions measured in the wrong system for your country. Also, the default is set for dogs. If your pet is not a dog, this necessitates a choice between Cat or "User" which allows you to program a schedule and portion other than the default. It was so hard to program only two meals that I cannot imagine anyone programming the maximum of 18 servings. Then there's the maintenance of the conveyer belt inside which lifts the food up to the pour spout. It does not measure portions exactly: 1/4 cup is essentially 1/3 cup which is more than my cat is supposed to get. Its taken me two days and about a dozen attempts to get it right - finally. I really wish I had not purchased this but returning it now is too much trouble. I recommend shopping around before you decide to purchase this.

Works great!

This has worked flawlessly. It always dispenses the right amount of food at the right time and I don't have to wake up in the middle of the night to feed my cats! It was a little tricky to set up, but once I got it, I never had to touch it again.

Great automatic feeder

I've had this product for 8 years. My cat loves it. It holds a month of food and is reliable. I am noticing the gears are finally getting loose so food slips out randomly but it's part of the next feeding so what do I care. This thing has survived numerous in state and out of state moves as well as other cats and dogs. I think the battery backup (I leave it plugged in) is starting to fade but it at least holds onto the programming if I lose power. Or my batteries are dying. I should check.

Peace of mind

I got this to keep my cat on a feeding schedule so I don’t have to remember or if I work late or leave town the cat still gets fed on time. I brought it overseas and it’s run on batteries for years. The batteries lasted about a year and it has a gauge so I knew when to change them out. It’s kind of bulky and seems large for a cat but I don’t have to worry about whisker fatigue either since the bowl is so wide. My old cat used to sit on it or bump into it to get extra food to fall out but they never completely figured out how to open it so it’s been a great reliable feeder for me. The cat comes running when the food drops into the bowl and it keeps them from bugging me instead.

Longevity

We purchased this exact feeder a while back and it lasted for TEN YEARS. So, we naturally bought the exact same one. It may not be as fancy as some of the new wifi feeders (although I hear they can be difficult to connect, and require reprogramming any time you connect to a different wifi (travel, etc)) but it holds a lot of food and is reliable. I imagine this new one will last us just as long as our first one!

Good feeder

This has been an excellent choice for my cat, since I only want ti disperse 1/8 cup of food. However, the machine was difficult to program. It took me 4 tries before I got it right.

Two Thumbs Up

This product is taking me out of the whole feeding process with my very hungry beagle. Before this, the whining, pawing, flapping of ears would always break me down. Now, she knows it's not about me, it's about the machine. I wish I'd known to get this thing sooner. Programming was not easy, but there's a YouTube video that does the trick.

Dependable

I bought this exact model 6 years ago and the motor became weak. 6 years of good service deserves another shot. I recommend this model. I need to know the little ones are being fed when I'm away.

convenient automated pet feeder solution

Love this feeder! Bought second one. Controls when pet eats, no more howling the morning. Can feed less than 1/4 cup. No issues with tray or cat pushing. Instructions unclear. Bought second unit convenience. Just plug in feeding times. Tray rotates at set times. Great buy!

Feeder more complicated than it should be

Difficult and complicated to setup and program. Hard to change program. No warning when purchasing that required D-Cell batteries NOT included.

dispenses without the need for wifi

I have had this for 3 months and works great. takes a little time to figure out how to set the cups and time, but it works without wifi, like my other models. so it is reliable. i bought the additional plug to go along with my batteries. will get another for back up...
