Was unreliable for months, failed 2 days ago.

I got one Wiz bulb for testing. It's been installed for about a year and worked most of the time; occasionally it would fail to shut off at night and I'd have to do it manually. Annoying but not unreliable enough to pull it. About 2 days ago it dropped off WiFi and won't reconnect so it has been effectively a dumb light bulb. Won't be getting any more Wiz products.

No long term reliability

I bought 3 of the 60W equivalent 800 lumens light bulbs for my outdoor sconces to illuminate the front porch and driveway. They were quite difficult to set up, but did work eventually. After about 18 months one of the bulbs has started to flash on and off and become unresponsive to wifi commands from the wiz app. Quite poor quality from such a historic and prestigious company as Philips.

Hard to pair/connect with phone

I bought this light at the store, and I followed the instructions. The lightbulb was hard to connect/pair. You have to turn on/off light switch multiple times. Philips needs to come up with a better way to connect/pair. This way is crappy and too confusing and not for people who can't troubleshoot. Once it's connected, the app works great with the light, and now it's working for me.

Doesnt connect

Would not connect no matter what I did. Meross, hue, and Tapo all work fine with my HomeKit. Tried connecting to Home app without wiz, found but would not finish connecting. Wiz app finds it when I give it the code in the box then sits for a few minutes then cannot connect. Tried everything, 2.4 WiFi Bluetooth could not get this connected to anything. Would absolutely not buy wiz again

Not compatible with Philips Hue

A smart Philips lightbulb, but not compatible with the Philips Hue bridge. And I’m supposed to know it’s incompatible with Hue, as if I even have “Philip’s Hue” memorized, because the box omits mentioning Hue?

Didn't realize I wasn't getting a Phillips hue. The boxes look similar I hooked it up for my daughter's room while we are away from home because the bulb we usually use is a nanoleaf. This product is horrendous setting it up took me an hour because it wouldn't connect to the Wi-Fi they told me it had to be within 10 feet of the router what a pain!! Luckily it didn't have to have it within 10 feet of the router it just magically started working on its own after I gave up and was going to return it. Then I left to go to the store and my husband told me that our daughter woke up and asked if she could shut the light off because it wouldn't stop blinking. Save your money and get a different type or brand! The instructions are not clear and the Nanoleaf ones have ALOT more options!

A week ago I purchased the Phillips 60-watt equivalent A19 LED Smart Wifi powered by Wiz, the light works fine but the app seems unreliable and the automation doesn't work well. I called the customer service for the Wiz app and they help me program the app however it is not working properly. Definitely I am not happy with this product and plan in returning it to HomeDepot. I dont think that the light bulb is bad but I find the app to be unreliable unlike the other app that Phillips has for the Hue lights that works very well and I have been using or a very long time.

Promised great things, but left disappointed

I purchased 12 of these light bulbs 6 months ago (October 2023). As of today I have 2 that won’t turn on no matter what I try. 3 will no longer sync to the app, and act like standard bulbs. 2 won’t turn on with the app, but when I cycle the power (on/off) they turn on and begin to sync with the app after about 5 minutes. 3 of the aforementioned bulbs that turn on, they begin to flash and flicker like a rave club. I have 5 bulbs that still work as they should but I am anticipating them to start acting up.

Must be setup with 2.4ghz network. App is limited

If your WiFi network does not have separate SSIDs for the 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks, they are very cumbersome to setup, since they will only connect to a 2.4ghz network through your phone. I had to use a lamp in my garage, away from my router, to try to force my iPhone to attach to the 2.4ghz network. The Wiz V2 app only has very basic features for automating the bulbs. There is not even a Sunrise or Sunset feature to set on/off times.

These lights are working well enough for me as a simple on/off timer outside on a single color. I tried to set them up to do automatic color changes to better reflect the changes in daylight to better support circadian rhythms. This simply did not work for me. One of the lights would also be a different color every time the switch was flipped. Additionaly, one of the lights was defective and would not hook up to my bluetooth/wifi. I eventually exchanged it for another, but it caused me hours of headaches to figure this out. This one bulb would prevent the others from connecting. I had to connect one by one to identify the bad bulb. In the end, I wasted hours of my time on a defective product. I'll keep the bulbs I have, but I would not buy more of them. I just don't think they're ready for primetime yet. I had high hopes, but was let down.

Do not purchase these lightbulbs if you are looking for WIFI lightbulbs. I purchased these for my front porch to be able to create a schedule and not worry about being home and the porch light coming on. I used to have Genni brand wifi lightbulbs for several years and was replacing those with these. Waste of time and money. Says 5 year warranty but mine blew out in less than a month. Have provided proof of purchase to manufacturer and still getting the run around. We'll see if they either replace them or give me my money back. Had to go out and purchase another brand until this issue gets resolved. Provided videos and pictures of issue and still no resolution.

nightmare to get working VERY LAGGY.

Slow in response if they respond at all. I'm very much into tech and pairing things. I have 6 Alexa's, 8 wize cameras, and about 10 Alexa voice outlets around the house. All installed and set up nicely. These two bulbs I ordered are nearly impossible to set up. They do not react as the APP states. But I did get them to connect, now I can't get them to accept 99% of my requests to change color or temp. After lots of errors from the app - to make it do fireside colors... finally did it now and I can't get it to change to anything else. I used the app, then after installing it said/made me get version 2 of the app which looks more feature rich.... but nothing works. If something does work it's REALLY LAGGY. I

Good bulb but a little flaky

A good bulb if you can get it for $10 or less per bulb. The light color and quality are good. Setup is not perfect but is easy enough. Voice control with Google Assistant is good. The big problem with these is that they can occasionally lose their wifi connection. This can get inconvenient. If you have multiple bulbs it will happen randomly once or twice per week. The best way to prevent this seems to be to always leave the light switch in the on position and only turn the bulb on and off with the app.

Bulb works great, setup could be easier

I bought this a week or so ago to replace an old smartbulb from another company that started acting up. So far so good. I primarily use it as a "wake up light," which it does have a built-in feature for (has a 30-minute ramp-up timer), but I prefer to program my own via Python. Thankfully, libraries exist to interface with this bulb and it seems to work fine. It's fairly responsive from the Android app as well, though the options made available on the Android widgets leave a lot to be desired. Personally, I'd rather not have to open the app to activate "night-light mode." All the widget lets you do is turn it on or off.

I'm so disappointed and frustrated

I really wanted to like these. They are full-spectrum, which is the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars, otherwise I'd only give it 1. I bought 4 total but they constantly become unresponsive from Alexa and the app almost on a daily basis. Sometimes multiple times per day. I have even improved my internet and yet it seems to be getting worse and requires me turn on/off the fan and lamp multiple times before it will work right. Simply put, I hate these lights, the app, and how I wasted my money on them. I'm constantly frustrated with them. At one point, they were losing connectivity and turned on at 100% brightness in the middle of the night when it was restored, multiple nights in a row. Or something was causing them to come on at 3, 4, 5 in the morning >( I really dispise that kind of malfunction. I hate that I have to search again for smart lights that will actually work and spend more money on this stuff. Not sure why these work so well for so many and yet there are a few who have the same issue as I do. See pic to see what I mean, I tried turning off my lights at night but no, one light isn't responding to Alexa commands or the app now. And this is after I had all of them stop working earlier and had to turn the fan and lamp off and on multiple times. Now I have to get out of bed again just to get this thing to work. Totally defeats the purpose I got them for, to be lazy and easily turn my lights on and off at bed time. This sucks :(

Don't Get Wiz'd On...

If you want to run WIFI Smart Lights in your home, there are only a few choices. The best product is Philips Vue, but these are $25-30 per bulb. The next best choice I thought of were the much less expensive Philips Smart Lights that work on the Wiz remote control app. These are half the cost. I'm still using them, but they are absolutely terrible. You need to provide them with a dedicated 2.4 GHZ WIFI band and have WIFI repeaters in every room that has a Philips bulb. The bulbs are cheaply made and must have a very weak WIFI transmitter/receiver. The Wiz app will lose the WIFI connection to the bulbs every few seconds, as they fade in and out. Each time I change a light setting, I must turn off the Wiz app on your phone, restart the Wiz app, and try to access the lights again. Last night it took four attempts to change the color of the lights and dim them for TV watching. I continue to struggle with these bulbs because there isn't another cost effective product. I'm kicking the can to see if there is another product on the market soon and looking forward to the day that I can toss these in the trash. Bottom line, these are cheap WIFI bulbs that work if you are willing to put up with the mediocre quality and ineffective phone app every day. They have great colors and animated color schemes, but they are frustrating to work with.

Get a different brand or Hue bulbs instead

I hate to give these a bad review, but they have a tendency to stop working either due to a forced firmware upgrade or some other insidious reason a few months after use, or even up to a year after use. And because the firmware updates are literally out of your control, I would not recommend buying these.

Lights are frequently offline and unavailable

I got 14 lights for my house about 6 months ago and I overall regret it. They're a lot less expensive than other "smart" lights and I like some of the colors and settings but it's too frustrating always having some lights offline, so every time I tell Google to turn on or off all the lights, the answer is always "Sorry, some lights are unavailable."

Good but not great

If you're looking for smart bulbs to add to your home/apartment these aren't bad. They're no Phillip's Hue bulbs though if that's what your looking for out of these, but for a fraction of the price of Hue bulbs they'll get the job done.

Philips Wiz Connected Lights

On a whim, I decided to purchase 5 Philips Wiz smart lights to try out. I'd heard great things for years about Philips Hue but the Hue products are a little too pricey for me. I bought four A19 bulbs and one BR30. I put them in my Living Room and Hallway. They're tricky to pair manually using only Wifi but if you also enable Bluetooth on your phone it significantly simplifies the pairing process. Once they're paired they work really well. I was surprised how big an impact these lights had on my mood. During that initial foray into smart lighting I was impressed enough to buy in more fully. I went back after a few weeks and bought six more A19, two more BR30, seven of the new B12 candles, two of the brighter A21 bulbs, and three of the room remotes. Enough to replace every light in my house. There are some limits to the functionality of this system presently but there have been regular app updates that have fixed quirks and added new features. One of the biggest limitations is that the app can't change a lights settings without Wifi. Though that limitation can be significantly mitigated using the room controls. Currently you can assign up to four lighting presets to the controls four buttons. The buttons affect all lights in that room but you can easily moves lights around into different rooms in the app or split rooms up to enable the controls to affect specific lights. You can also adjust the brightness, turn them on or off, or put them into nightlight mode using the room controls. Once the room controls are paired they don't require Wifi to communicate with the lights. I've also experimented with the Wiz apps Scene controls. Those allow me to save and recall a whole room's lighting environment at a time. So far I'm impressed. I absolutely love looking out across the house at night with all the lights set to nightlight. It's a bit magical =D
