Don't waste your money

To begin with, there were no instructions included with the item and I couldn't find instructions on the internet. But since I've installed bathroom sink drains before, I assumed it would be like the others. Maybe I was wrong and there is a trick. I first installed it with the parts that were included and it leaked. I took it apart and tried using plumbers putty. Still leaked. I tried again with teflon tape, but there were leaks. I tried four separate installations each resulting in leaks. Finally I gave up, bought a cheaper plastic drain which I installed easily and successfully. I would return this drain if I could but since I've opened it and "used" it I can't. Save yourself the money and time and buy another.

High quality product, clear instructions if needed, aesthetic, and most important (again), a great quality product at a fair price. I'll take that all day long!

The product is not good as the original: Thinner metal and low cut threads.

The build is not as good as the original: thinner metal and the thread is not deep. The quality of American Standard product is not good any more.

The quality of this item was beyond my expectations. But, after buying your faucet, we found that we didn't need an extra metal drain, as the faucet came with one already. It was cheerfully refunded by your customer service. I will recommend your products to my family and friends.

The drain was well made by American Standard. Would definitely buy this again. It’s made of metal. I bought a plastic drain made by another company and it broke soon after it was installed. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra on metal.

This is a great drain kit. Buy it and don't use plastic ones. This looks better and will last much longer.

Yes I would recommend this product, but HAVE TO WARN YOU THE THE HANDLE TO PULL AND CLOSE THE DRAIN IS NOT INCLUDED. I overlooked this on the picture but was able to repurpose the one from the drain I replaced.

New drains look great, but even with teflon tape on every joint and lots of plumbers putty used, they pass water through to the drain as if there is no stopper. Rubber gasket is in great shape, but water runs past as if there is no gasket. What’s up with that?

Seventeen year old house (purchased new), with typical maintenance issues starting to pop up. Had a leak in one of the master bath sinks - original installed hardware was corroded at the drain level. Since all the bathroom sinks in the house are the same set up, decided to replace all of the them at once (a good call, since there was corrosion on at least one other). This was a nice replacement, as the stopper comes apart, making it easier to install.

Quality of product was excellent, but I had to take a star because it did not include documentation. The way it was pre-assembled during shipping is not the way it should be assembled when installing.

Great alternative to the plastic ones

It's metal and looks great but comes with no instructions. Watch youtube and take photos of the old one then put lots plumber's putty on any contact point where water can leak. Don't over tighten the seal between the drain and the sink, it'll push out the putty and case a leak.

Fresh update

Replacing hardware from original construction 13 years ago. Affordable update coinciding with fresh paint on walls. Used pumice stone on sinks and all looks like new again! Recommend installation include sufficient plumbers putty under cap ring in bottom of sink; otherwise it won't hold bowl of water for long! For that reason alone, some written instructions for installation WOULD have been nice for the amateur installer.

Good Product - Needs Instructions

Installed this"Patented Overflow" type drain after trying two plastic replacement drains that leaked.

Really nice, but careful of installation

For the price, these are beautiful drains (the outside top, that is. Underneath is "just" pipe :) I upgraded some bathroom sinks using American Standard product and needed some new drains to go with them. I had purchased less expensive (but only by $3/drain) ones that were cheap and plastic, and then discovered these. Glad I found them (they also share the American Standard logo w/the sinks. Not a requirement, but nice that they do).

Lower Quality Than In The Past

The fit and finish of this assembly was noticeably lower than the exact same

Good Quality..Note the installation figure

The product is good quality all metal construction. Better than what my builder used and better than bIg box store equivalent.
