Glad for the light, Afraid of the Cover

While I am grateful that light kits are available for our 35+ year-old Hunter fans, the glass globe has virtually no lip and does not set securely in the fixture, and this is very disconcerting.

THE ORIGINAL IS WORTH EVERY DOLLAR

Don’t waste your money on any other fan. The original is a heavy duty, powerful fan, with very high CFM.

Easy to connect to my Casablanca Ainsworth ceiling fan via the switch housing. Used existing screws in switch housing to attach.

Good News - Looks Better in Person

I had this light kit installed on a new Hunter Original 52-inch fan, located in a bedroom. Install was simple. The bowl is an attractive shape with smooth white glass. It looks good with the fan and looks pretty illuminated. It really gives the fan a retro finish. I recommend using the light kit adapter piece that came with the fan if you had it, since it will match color, but it is good Hunter includes one with the kit. My only criticism is the massive light fixture only has one light bulb. The builder grade bedroom ceiling light fixture I took down had two bulbs. So I did not use the provided bulb. I got a 1600 lumen LED bulb from the store. I think for a bedroom, that will be adequate. However, if you wanted very bright lighting or were installing the light into a large room, like a kitchen, dining room, or family room, one bulb would probably not cut it. Finally, I do think there should be more lighting options for the Hunter Original Fan, whether they are damp rated or not. I bought this product because it was the ONLY OPTION, so thank goodness it looks decent. If I could not have a light, I would not have bought this fan! So think about that, Hunter. The light is a deal breaker for a lot of people, so give people more options.

Light cover is huge, found a solution.

We bought 2 of these fan light kits, but the cover is so huge. Looks awkward, and also hangs so low that you can hit your head walking under it. We found a solution, but it ended up costing us more because we had to buy a replacement cover. But, it’s much smaller and looks great, so we are happy.

Problems with returning a light kit

It didn’t fit with my Hunter Fan and no one will answer the phone to assist with the return. They say it is so simple to return and yet when I put the order number in it says, “no order is found”

Great light - couple of problems

The globe is very nice and matches the fan well. It is difficult to assemble as the adapter piece that transitions this light to our old fan has "blind mounting" screws that are tough to get in and very weak. One of my screws broke.... :( and they only supply 2

I am refurbishing 4 Original Hunter fans that have small globe lights. I bought these because they look better on these 52" fans. I really needed white ones but they weren't available until 2021. I plan on spray painting the light kit white. I have done it before and it looks great.

Nice light kit. I love the style (there a so few nice options to pick from in general I feel), it’s more modern in terms of the era in which it was designed. Its much larger than expected but not in a bad way, it’s just not dainty (nor was that what I was looking for, just an observation). Having to return it as I believe my older fan’s wiring is faulty.

Hunter fan light kit

Again, love the light! Installation was difficult though. Quality lamp and we love it but even our master electrician had a challenge installing it. I really like the light kit on the fan. Quality glass and the staff that helped me match it to my existing fan was GREAT. My son is a licensed master electrician and he said it was the most difficult light kit he ever installed and he has been in the business for 25+ years. Generally he likes Hunter fans but this light kit gave him a challenge.

Bulky - Not sleek

This light kit was recommended with the fan that I have. The globe is very large and dominates the fan. It works fine and the light from it is fine but I would have preferred a much smaller globe. I have been looking for a smaller replacement, but most of them are 4" and the opening on this one is 5.5". It would work fine for a much bigger fan and room.
