Challenging to mount

Because the backing is nailed to the back of the unit, it doesn't mount flush to the wall - only the backing is flush. So, removing the backing to mount aesthetically leaves the wall as the effective backing.

Great for storage of ones DVD. As with all particle board furniture I use wood glue on every screw/dowel/attachment. Additionally, I use small wood screws to attach the back panels in addition to the nails that come with it. This will give the storage unit a more solid feel. Putting it together was easy and everything was clearly marked. Overall, am happy with it.

Great DVD Storage

Home Depot had the best price on this media storage. I wanted white, which was difficult to find in of the Prepac cabinets. I have put together 3 of them. Once they are built they look really nice. They aren't difficult to put together by yourself. All you need is a hammer and a Philips screwdriver.

Not worth full price!

Easy to assemble. The 4 uprights aren't as dense as the other boards. The most difficult assembly was getting the 3 back panels aligned; I used a speed square to make sure it was all straight. I'm disappointed that the back is held on with nails instead of screws. That makes it harder to disassemble if I ever move. Also, the plastic feet with nails are pretty useless. I slid shims underneath instead. It seems fairly stable side-to-side. The sale price made it worth the gamble.

Perfect movie storage.

Works perfect for storage needs. Needed a slim shelving unit for all of our blue ray/DVD movies. Fit perfect. Easy to assemble. Great quality. Highly recommend purchase.

Media center came in one box with directions. Directions were easy to follow. Laying it out on the floor is the easiest way to put it together. Put all the parts in the spots where they belong and then Start putting it together. The materials are sound and solid. The back is one of those cardboard backs but again nicely constructed Accordion style. I would say for the money it was well worth the purchase and I’m quite pleased.

A daunting project for a non-mechanical woman, but with help managed to get it together in two days. Instructions were clear, all hardware was present. Plenty of shelves, and easily adjustable. WARNING: the materials out-gassed enough to make my head and nose stuffy and my eyes water from being close to my bedroom. I recommend putting it together in a well-ventilated area, and letting it air out thoroughly before placing it near sleeping or children's areas. The smell eventually dissipates.

Was a little concerned because we have a lot of DVD/BluRay and worried this would not hold them all and would just be such a large piece of furniture.

Pretty decent value for the money

Bought 2 of these because of the decent reviews. Only built one so far, but I must confess I despise having to nail the backer cardboard on today's pressboard furniture. This unit comes with three separate ones, and you have to make sure you get it right the 1st time, because you could end up off on the last one if you deviate a few millimeters. I made out ok, but missed the mark with one nail, and blew out the pressboard material on the corner of one shelf, maybe some glue will fix that. Ran out of nails, using the recommended amount from the instructions. It seems sturdy enough with the shelves installed, I have only one section full so far and am hoping the weight of most of my cd collection doesn't cause issues. It looks pretty nice, got the blk/cherry color. Certainly better than boxes stacked on the ground!

This storage unit was just what I needed to store the many CDs of my musician husband. He kept adding more smaller units until we had them all over the place. This holds all of his collection plus my own. It's so nice to combine everything into one unit.

the Prepac DVD storage cabinet is great, perfect for all my DVDs and paperbacks and hardcover books, the shelves on the bottom hold all my oversize books. The cabinet is sturdy and great looking in cherry and black. I have 2 of them in my LR. The adjustable shelves are ideal for all size books and framed photos and holds my cable box and other Audio equiptment. Would highly recommend giving it 5 stars.

I have been very skeptical about buying products on line, without physically seeing and touching it first. Being that the only was to get a media storage unit was to buy it on line, I had no choice. I was very pleased that the product arrived sooner than promised. Upon opening the box, I found that all parts were present along with detailed instructions for assembly were present. I was even happier in that I did not need an engineering degree to assemble the unit. Upon completing the assembly, I patted myself on the back for a job well done. The unit was everything I expected and more. Should the need arise , I would definitely purchase more products from this company. The experience with the order , the assembly and using the finished media storage unit has made me a very satisfied customer. The unit received compliments from guest; they said it looked like store purchased furniture. I have and will continue to promote this product and company to others who admirer my unit and are looking for same or similar products. Thank you for your truth , ease of assembly and photo accuracy of your product. You now have a fan and a satisfied customer who will promoted your products using the best publicity for your company; a real, satistified, unpaid customer. Thanks again.

Sturdy With Room To Spare

Very sturdy and roomy storage unit. I've been buying prerecorded videos for over 30 years and I finally have them all organized and in one place thanks to this storage unit! Assembly was not difficult. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. Pictures and text make sure of that. It took me about an hour to assemble the unit. It does come with hardware to secure it to the wall but I didn't use it. That was my choice. I don't think I need to anchor the unit to the wall because it is very sturdy. But if you have small children you should probably anchor the unit to the wall. It will probably fall down if a child or even a pet tries to climb on it! So use your good judgment with that. I have 214 VHS tapes and DVDs on my unit with room to spare! The shelves are infinitely adjustable to accommodate everything from cassette tapes to VHS tapes or even books. Whatever you want. If putting books on the storage unit I would definitely recommend anchoring it to the wall because of the weight. I even came up with several extra shelves and mounting pegs so if I ever want to add or change the shelf arrangement I can! Definitely a must have if you collect movies!

Cherry/Black Adjustable Wall Storage Unit

Easy assembly by following the instructions. Make sure you give yourself plenty of room when assembling it. I purchased a pack of 3/4" finishing nails to make sure I had sufficient nails to secure the backing. Nice looking unit. Although you have 7 shelves for each section, that must apply for CD's. If your using it for Blu-Rays there isn't sufficient room to have 7 shelves. DVD's even less. Before you purchase it make sure you measure the space you are intending to put it, it is a big unit. I personally only have the one wall I'll be able to place it at.

Very Nice DVD Shelf

I bought this for my DVD collection. It fits 29 reg sized dvd's per shelf with 5 shelves high per section, 3 sections in the triple-wide size which makes 15 shelves overall holding a total of 435 standard sized DVD's. I have my whole collection on here and it holds up nicely. Pros -- Pretty solid, Easy to build, Fully adjustable shelves, Cherry/Black color is very nice & it holds 435 DVD'S Cons -- 2 things come to mind.. 1) Adjusting the shelves to strictly dvd sizes, it leaves just over 6 1/2" up top of unused space, too small for a dvd though they could be stacked sideways adding even more to the total storage space. 2) Also as people have mentioned, the upper area (bottom of the top shelf) is unpainted it doesn't bother me at all but it's those little details that might stand out to other people if anyone was to bother looking. Notes* You'll need a Flathead/Phillips Screwdriver & Hammer, make sure you have a bit of clear space to lay the pieces out and build on the floor. With the included 'feet' attached at the bottom, it sits pretty solid on my carpet even with all the dvd's I don't need to use the wall mount for this. When I was done building this (after making sure the top shelf was properly screwed/bolted on) I picked it right up and carried it by the top and it held solid. Overall as someone who's been amassing my dvd collection for well over a decade now, this shelf is very nice especially for the price. Looks great, holds a lot of dvd's (even with that extra bit of space up top) Because of it's height I also use the top of the shelf itself to hold some collectibles. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good shelf that holds a good amount of dvd's.

Awesome media storage!

The unit arrived quickly and was in great condition. Packing seems to be decent with a good amount of foam. Assembly was a breeze, instructions were clear. It took myself (and on occasion a helping hand) about an hour to assemble. It's all MDF so you do have to be careful not to abuse it during assembly and be careful when nailing in the back panels - I had a stray nail and it slightly damaged the finish. The instructions say to nail in the back panels with the unit standing up. I found it much easier to lay it flat on it's front, putting a soft blanket under to avoid any damage to the front of the unit and nailing in the panels gently (I did not damage the front of my unit). The weight requires 2 people to pick up the complete boxed unit and is also recommended when moving the assembled unit. After setting it in it's place we spent time adjusting the shelf heights for our different movies. The entire height of the vertical boards have peg holes for the shelf pegs, so customization for any need is very easy and with countless combinations. The shelves are decently strong and don't flex much. We used ours to load it full of movies from our collection. We only used movies and spaced the shelves as best as we could to get as many as we could in there and we had several extra shelves left over! I set them aside in case we change things up and need them. I would buy this product again!

Easy construction; Sturdy product

Both my wife and I are mildly disabled seniors but we were able to put this together. The instructions were quite clear. In the past we have put together some Sauder book shelves. The Prepac was of a similar type . . . but with three major differences. First, the backing material is much thicker/sturdier which gives this unit much more strength and stability.Second, the shelves are not flat pieces of wood but have grooves in them so that they will fit the side plugs much more securely. And third, there is no "fixed" cross shelf to limit spacing choices. We are using it for DVDs only . . . so we used only 15 of the 21 shelves (which I'm sure would be needed for CDs); but this gave us 15 shelves of a bit over DVD height. This also left some room below where you could lay DVDs on their side if you wanted.Interior length of each shelf is a tad over 42cm (about 16 1/2"). Ignore the product photo that shows different heights of the shelves . . . you could do it that way, but you are free to have each shelf be whatever height you want . . . we chose all the same height. One other feature not mentioned is a little thingy to anchor the unit to a wall. This would not be strong enough to deter a concerted effort but should suffice to hold it upright for most purposes. We are delighted with this Prepac product and highly recommend it.
