Unbelievable - Buyer Beware!

So we had the TL model installed in Nov 2017 and all was going well until earlier this year when the left mirror light went out. Well the Engineer in me decided to double check if it was actually the light so I flipped the two outer mirrors and plug in the door cable connector to find that the mirror light was good. Turns out the door cable connector was bad. So talked to a pleasant Customer Service rep to find that they do not have any replacement parts for this model. She explained that since we had this type of a problem they were offering the new model at 50% off. OK so what will that cost, $891.89. After the call I wanted to check the new model and found the price was $1259.10. First of all I think someone needs to fix their calculator. Second of all I cannot believe that the only option is to buy a new unit. This was not some low quality cheap product we purchased. Not reliable

Have these installed in my home. Barely used in the 4 years installed. Malfunction in the light on one side. For nearly $1,000 the LED light needs to work for at least 10 years.

Bad product & no solutions by Kohler

This product is a joke. How hard is it to realize that it was poorly designed and come up with an inexpensive fix? Charging customers $500 to alleviate acKohler issue is a racket. Wish we had not bought any Kohler products. Second product with issues.

Stated off great but does not last!

Bought and installed two of these medicine cabinets and initially was very happy with them. Over about 2 years the edge of the mirror started to desilver making the mirror look pretty shabby and then the electrical cable that powers the lights broke inside. Kohler told me they don't sell this cable so I can't replace it (looks simple to replace) but offered me 50% off a new medicine cabinet! I just need a new cable so this seems ridiculous.

Met my minimum needs with power and recessed options

Nice unit overall. I had casually looked for over a year for something like this. While it does help keep my electric toothbrush away from guests and their germs, I was hoping it would be deeper inside. There's really only about 3.75" so bigger items such as razor charging bases won't fit without leaving the door cracked open. Also, the power supply takes up about 1/2 of the depth space, wasting internal storage space and also making it hard to fit certain power supplies inside the door without leaving the door cracked open. It also limits your choices on where you can put the adjustable shelves. The light on the unit is so bright you almost don't need another light in your bathroom, but by opening the door much of that light ends up facing the wall instead of the room. I did get a reasonable deal on this working at a sister company but thought it was funny that the emailed request to share my opinion ended up in my junk folder. Less

Poor quality

I bought this lighted medicine cabinet barely 2 years ago. The LED lights are no longer working. What a terrible, poorly designed, low quality product. I recently renovated two bathrooms and except for some bathroom fixtures, I bought predominantly Kohler branded products. I am extremely disappointed with the Kohler products so far. This lighted medicine cabinet is just one example of how the quality of Kohler products has become so bad. I am doing more home renovations and I will most certainly not choose Kohler again.

Excellent product. There had been problems with flickering lights that I think Koehler has now solved.

$2,000 Down the Drain on Kohler - Don't buy these cabinets

I've rated this a "one star" rating because there is no "zero star" option! We have two of these cabinets in our home, and after 3 years the wiring has failed in both of them, in the same manner documented in all the other one star reviews.

over time at least one of the wires in the power cable will break and the only solution is to buy a new front door for $500

Dead lights after 2 years

The wiring is intact but one day the lights flickered and eventually went off never to turn on again. Very frustrating as this is not built for longevity or the 59,000 hours they claim. Now I don't know what to do.

Faulty Wiring; 2 out of 3 cabinets broke

As many others have pointed out, the cabinet has faulty wiring design. The wires wear down from repeated cabinet opening and closing, and stop working within a couple years. When you contact Kohler, they tell you that this model is discontinued, and offer you 50% off purchasing new doors (a $250 discount).Terrible experience! Avoid this product.

Do not buy this product, good looking, poor quality

I wish that I read all the reviews before I bought them! looks great, but the product quality is so poor, the lights stopped working as soon as my 1-year warranty expired. I ordered replacement part, it is the entire mirror! it was shipped it to me three times, every time, the mirrors (both sides) were broken. I gave up, asked for my money back. Please do not buy it

Believe the reviews and don't buy this cabinet

I bought this cabinet three years ago. I selected it even though I saw a few reviews complaining that the lights eventually stop working due to a known design flaw. I always have been impressed with Kohler products and have replaced most of the faucets, sinks, and toilets in my older home with Kohler products. That said, I have attempted to contact Kohler through the "contact form" and chat feature, and have received no positive response to my request for either a new replacement cord (the failure mechanism) or a new cabinet. This was a "splurge" buy for me, and it was beautiful while it lasted, and now I am stuck with a black hole in my bathroom. I do hope that someone from Kohler will eventually step in to rectify this issue.

The only medicine cabinet that you cannot change the center door hinging on.

Our client bought this and is now screaming at us (somehow Kohler's design choice is our fault as a contractor) that she has to be "pinned against the wall" since the cabinet / door cannot be reversed. At the very least I would expect for there to then be a right hinged model. It is absolute design failures like this that make it hard to recommend products to clients. I should have had my guys in and out of this bathroom in 2 hours today with a check in hand, but instead we lost a days worth of earnings chasing down an issue that we had no part in creating.

I would definitely love this mirror! The lights are perfect. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a new medicine cabinet.

Faulty wire, light flickers then turns off

As everyone else has pointed out, there is a design flaw with the wiring. It wears down within 1 to 2 years after installation and the lights stop working.

A KNOWN DESIGN FLAW

We bought two of these (plus a matching vanity mirror) in 2019 for a renovation. They were beautiful with nice features but EXPENSIVE. In 2021 the light on one of them stopped working. Thank goodness we had registered our products. We reached out to Kohler Customer Service and the representative indicated that there was a known electrical problem and the new cabinets had been redesigned or updated to fix it. They replaced the cabinet at no charge. In 2022 the light on the second one AND the light on the vanity mirror stopped working. Again we called Kohler Customer Service to report it and we referenced our earlier issue. This time, they agreed to replace both products--but at 75% off. So we're out more money, but I guess I would say Kohler stands behind their product. When you pay over $1,000 for a mirror or medicine cabinet it seems reasonable to expect excellent quality.
