The fixtures came with rotary switches. They have really nice metal knobs, but they are only hot glued on to the fixtures. One came off immediately when I tried to operate it(before I installed it), the other (I purchased 2) was lying in the bag when I opened it. I really liked the fixtures so I went to the trouble of purchasing some toggle switches and retrofitting them. Do not purchase these if you are not set up to modify them. There is no way that the factory switches will hold up.

Visually bigger than you think

I really liked the shape and functionality of the light and was pleased with the quality when it arrived. I bought 2 to be reading lights installed on either side of my king sized bed and when I held them up before installing they were just visually too big and bulky so I returned them. The measurements listed on the site are correct but I should have held up a 3D representation of the approximate size before ordering.

Beautiful high quality fixtures with nice lighting. Easy to install. Disappointed that light cannot be dimmed at the fixture - can only dim if using a wall switch dimmer - which is inconvenient when using the lamps at bedside.

I will not be having these put up for a few weeks so I will report back with an update!

I ordered two of these, and LOVE them! The quality is exceptional. I can't wait for the installation.

When I wanted to read by it, I had to hold the base on the wall and swing the arm. If they made the screw longer with the washer it probably would work better. One of the lights the off on switch worked beautifully but where it would pivot it fell apart the first day. The second one the arm that pivoted look like it was going to break after one week. Taking them off my wall and bringing them back very disappointed.I wish I read the reviews first I am taking these back very disappointed.

Great sconce! Classic design and beautiful finish. Gives great ambient light with dimming capabilities.

Hardware- not a fan

Light looks good so that’s good but there is more to a light then just the look. This light doesn’t come with good instructions for those who need them. Also 2 screws were missing from the packaging that I had to get from spares I had. The mounting hardware is sort of a pain and doesn’t make for a strong setup unless you use a very strong electrical box. The joints in the arm aren’t the smoothest but they work as long as you don’t tighten them too much. DONT use an electrical box were the screw holes for mounting are at the 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock placing once it’s installed. This will get in the way of the mounting hardware. A traditional single gang outlet box will work for this. I installed it with a switch so that if I ever replace the light then I don’t have to get one with a switch built in and I also like the decorative switch more then the single click nob switch that comes with the light. I think it’s an ok light but not the best quality. Would I buy it again? Probably not but if it were a great deal or free I would install it.

Nice light and great finish

I picked this light for my wife's new home office. She likes that it is easily adjustable so she can move it over her while she reads and works from her chair. The black finish is a nice satin black. The inside of shade part is a gloss white that does a good job reflecting light back down. All in all it's a great light.

Happily “Enlightened”!

My first thought upon opening this Hinton wall sconce was- this thing is huge! Was I shipped the wrong one?! In the picture it looks rather small, but in reality it extends a full 19(!) inches outward. This was a definite plus to me, because who doesn’t love feeling as though they’ve gotten something significant for a reasonable price, when nowadays, it’s usually just the opposite?! As for looks, that’s a thumbs up as well. What I particularly like is that its finish and style don’t “scream” Industrial or Farmhouse, though it could definitely blend with either. It has a smooth, consistent (not shabby chic) black finish with a bit of sheen, though not glossy at all. I’ve gotten so many emails lately from different places I’ve bought lighting and hardware, and apparently matte black is having its “moment” right now. This sconce is classic enough where I don’t think it will evoke that “What in the world was I thinking that I installed mottled brown granite countertops in 2005?!” feeling ten years from now. It’s handsome, strong, sexy (No sweet husband, not you, the SCONCE!), and the only drawback I can think of is that I now feel compelled to acquire a second one, because I think a pair of these would look just splendid flanking our bed!

So so light fixture

I was excited to receive this light to mount bear my son’s bed as he often falls asleep with his light on. However, this fixture disappoints from the start. It was literally about a 30 mi. Project to dislodge from the box, which makes no sense and created a lot of extra waste. The material and construction was flimsy and looked inexpensive. The only plus was it used a standard size bulb so that was easy to find (extra purchase as it is was not included). My son had difficulty switching it on, so not sure it is meant for child’s room. I will be changing this one.

Works well, would like a tilt feature

I used this as a reading light over my bed. I like that I could use the scone positioned over my pillow or my wife's pillow. I would like it if the head tilted to better position the lighting. Overall I love the look. All metal construction is a huge plus. To attach this to my headboard I cut a 4 inch hole, connected the cord to a lamp plug I purchased at Lowe's and now I can just plug it in like a regular lamp.

After searching, purchasing and returning other sub-par fixtures, I finally purchased this light that was in my cart for quite some time. I spent way more than I wanted to, but it was worth it in the end. The quality and style are perfect.
