I had two major concerns with these shades. I purchased the 55 inch wide shades. I wanted two of them. In all, I had to order 5 of them to get two good ones. There is a packaging problem with these 55 inch wide shades. The three that I returned were bent. Other than that, they are nice and easy to install.

The style of the shade does not lend itself to a "room darkening' shade. Previous shades I had have the shade going all the way to the end of the roll so as to be behind the window frame to keep out the light. Your new style has the shade on the one side about a good inch away from the side of the window, thus letting in the light in one side. This design is not "room darkening".

Not good for wide (48 ”) windows

Ordered 5 of these shades. They were delivered in great condition, were relatively easy to install, but only 2 lasted more than a week before the spring inside came undone. I found the shades on the floor with the rod still in the brackets. So I ordered replacements. Those came damaged from shipping. So I ordered more (I know, the universe was trying to send me a sign). I hung them up, returned from vacation and all but one blind were on the floor again. I’m returning them all and looking at other options from a different company.

I am happy with the quality of the material. However, this is the 2nd shade I ordered because the first one wouldn't roll back up. This one isn't much better. I've hand rolled it 5 times to get it to work properly. I've put shades up before and never had this problem. I'm a bit bewildered by this.

Installed it a month ago. Works well. Rolls up and down perfectly. Was easy to install and cut to size. Hope it continues to work properly.

Not really worth it, even for the price.

Cheap all around. The rod is not straight and won't stay up. The mechanism to pull it up or down is not consistent. At the end of the day it would be more worth it to spend the money on something that will actually work right.

Buy Mainstay brand instead!

I bought this brand thinking that it would be a higher quality than the Walmart Mainstay brand. Since the size I needed for my other 2 windows was out of stick I ordered the Walmart Mainstay brand which I installed first with such ease. When i opened this package it was a bit confusing and more complicated it took me twice as long to install. (Please note I reused the old brackets from the previous shade.) i felt like it lacked the same quality as the Walmart ones and doubt they will last long. But it is already installed and can’t return it.

Wouldn't call it room darkening

This was ok as far as what I expected as to the thickness of the plastic. It was ok to install it. What I did not like was the amount of light this shade lets in. It is described as room darkening, however it is room darkening only in the sense the bright sun doesn't come through and shine on the floor. The shade somewhat "glows" a golden color when the sun shines on it; I'd call it a light filtering shade, not room darkening. I wanted a room darkening shade; I could've bought a light filtering shade for less than I paid for this "room darkening" one.

Surprisingly easy.

These things are great. Actually had to shorten two of them to fit my bay window. Was easier than I thought it would be. Keeps a great deal of heat from the sun out of the house.

Not the best shades

Not very well made. These shades do not rewind well and have actually pulled off the spool trying to get them to roll up. I have a total of 6 installed and only two work properly.

Terrible do not buy

Machine was really hard to pull down and almost impossible to roll back up. I’m very disappointed with it. Only good thing I can say it was easy to cut once I finally got it up. The pin popped out of it and now it’s no longer usable.

Second choice to custom made

Easy ordering, easy instructions to tear down to perfect size. Good price. Beware that the one that says on the label that it will work for a window up to 37 1/2 inches is not accurate. I will not fit inside a 36" window due to the off-set nature of the shade and it is too narrow to install outside a 36" window for the same reason. The shade is not positioned in the center of the roller.

Arrived Defective - Roller Bar is Warped

So disappointed! This shade finally arrived and I did everything correctly to tear it down to the perfect size, but when I installed it in my window, I realized the roller bar was warped. The warp is actually visible to the eye, and as I was measuring and tearing I wondered if it would be a problem, but I've had such a hard time finding the right shade solution I hoped it would still work. Nope. It's defective and has to be returned.

For some reason the hardware store could not cut the shades I needed correctly. I use to buy these a long time ago but recently I couldn't find them. They serve the purpose. However I will say this they are NOT long lasting shades.

Good but not perfect fit..

The shades are hood and easy to install. One drawback. Though the shades were cut perfectly from the cut out end yet from the other end, the shade was half an inch away from the adjacent wall.. allowing light to trap in through this gap.. wish the left end of the sgades could be adjusted as well. See the attached pictures..

Very easy to install. I had my doubts about the ability to cut to size but after the initial scissor cut the unrolling was perfect. it worked like a charm for all 4 shades I installed. After the first one (learning curve) each one took 15 mins as I was replacing an existing shade.

Worth it!!! Buying more

Super easy to fit to my window size (54”) and also very easy to install. The mechanism itself goes up and down pretty easy. It does seem on the cheaper side but it was worth it for the price! It does block out the sun and looks nice and clean with some curtains that hung in front. I will be buying more of these for my other windows.

Bar was cardboard on one side and bent.

We purchased two shades. The shade itself was fine, however the bars on each were bowed. The bars are half metal half cardboard. We ended up using our old bars and putting the new shades on them. Disappointed by the quality of the bars. The shades were good and tore to size evenly.

tear away shade

The shades were as expected and they do tear to whatever measurement you want. BUT...the top of the shade has a side that is removable and one that isnt. The one that is stationery sticks out alot more than it should from the edge of the shade. Therefore the shade seems a little too narrow on that side because of that. Otherwise its a shade.
