I have used American Standard for quite a few years...

I have used American Standard for quite a few years and recommend them to all of my clients as an Interior Designer. I usually use a slightly different cadet model that is not one piece. This one is so compact in the tank area, I love it!! It flushes just as strong as the other cadet's I have had. American Standard is always at a great price for an amazing product!!

The cover of the Toilet Tank is defective

I waited 3 weeks to have it delivery to the local Home Depot. My plumber took it out of the box Friday installed it perfectly ,we put the cover on the Tank notices there were two chips on the cover. Called Home Depot and they reached out to America Standard and no one answer . Now I installed one and the other is still in the box. I am so mad at American Standard's poor quality control I am going to return both. I spent over $430 for each toilet . you would expect a better quality.

Perfect sized toilet in renovated L-Shape bath

The Compact Cadet 3 Elongated Toilet is the perfect size for our newly renovated L-Shaped bathroom. We really enjoy the powerful flush while saving in water consumption. We also enjoy the soft closing lid and seat that comes with a helpful tiny ridge protruding out to assist in lifting it. The one piece set-up is great for cleaning purposes. However, while seated on the toilet the backing does not comfortably accomodate your backside, so in essence, you are in a more upright position when seated which can be uncomfortable over time. Furthermore, for the price of over $600, the toilet should have come with a skirted design.

Slow leak after installing toilet

After installing the toilet, it developed a slow leak that caused it to flush intermittently. I replaced the flapper, but that did not resolve the leak problem. I tightened the bolts that secure the flush valve, but again the leak continued. I removed the flush valve and when checking the opening where the valve is mounted, I discovered that there was a small chipped area in the rim of the opening where the flush valve gasket is seated. I repaired the chip with silicon, re-seated the flush valve and tightened the bolts. The leak has not returned, and all other aspects of the toilet are excellent.

I'm really puzzled at why this toilet gets good reviews here. It's been an unbelievably bad toilet that has failed in multiple ways. For one thing, when flushed, the toilet sometimes spits up at you with such force that material from the toilet will actually fly up into the air and land on your feet. This happens somewhat regularly. I have to shut the lid if I want to be sure it won't spit excrement at me when I flush. I have never known any other toilet to do this.
