The item was exactly what I needed to fix my sliding door. I was able to order it as they don’t carry it at the store.o

i bought the patio door handle at loews because i bought the door at loews years ago. The handle lasted 20 years or more so i decided to stick with that handle because another 20 years will probably out last me. The only thing that gets my goat is loews policy toward vets. It use to be just show your vet card or some other military id, now you get the bums rush, get disconnected several times when you call . Please dont insult me by giving me that thank you for your service line if you dont mean it. So please discontinue that line

Defective product

The threaded tube which recieves the screws which hold the handle together is flat on one side. The tube is so thin on the flat side that it easily cracks and will not hold the screw tight. You will have a permanently loose door handle.

Screwy problem

As with many others I found that the provided screws were too long to snug down the handle. Since I did read the reviews prior to installation I didn't try to over torque the screws to get the handle snug and have them possibly strip out; I took the new screws back out and replaced the old screws, which did snug down the handle. So far, so good.

Improvement needed

Item was made for 1-3/4" doors, but locking mechanism was too short. I wrote a letter with photo to the company. I was able to use old parts and new parts with epoxy to make it work.

Easy to install

The handle was super easy to install and looks nice. It is sturdy and stands up to kids going in and out frequently.

Perfect Fit

I needed a replacement handle in order to sell my house. Seeing as we built the house 13 years prior, finding out who made the door was a lost cause. I hopped on Lowes website ordered this handle and it was a perfect match and fit.

You may need to add washers to the screws.

The replacement patio door handle fit ok with only the additional of some washers.

Misaligned screw openings

The exterior handle was fine. The screw inserts fit in door fine with a little tapping and they went in perfectly when inserted on the interior side. Which I tested because I thought it was me not them. However, the interior handle which doesn't have full door inserts for screws( more like rounded nibs) doesn't align with the openings in door, so it won't fit flush against the door frame. Maybe this was just an off lot, but I can confirm other review complaints about easily strippable screws and the distance between the handle and the door does seem to put more stress on the screws than my previous handle, which I wish I had purchased instead of this one.

This is an adequate economical patio / sliding glass door replament handle of the quality you expect for the price.

Minor tweaking

Luckily the existing bolts were in good condition and didnt need to use the supplied bolts. Also needed to tweak the locking mechanism to fit. Also had to use the existing exterior handle as the locking mechanism was integral to the handle.

It's not a sturdy piece of metal but has a lifetime warranty. I saved my packaging and receipt because I expect the handle will only last a few years. I suppose my door was not as thick as was intended for this handle because the screws were too long; I used the screws from my old handle.

Junk.

We've used these a few times. The screws always break within a year. Would not recommend.

Bad

The inside handle it is OK the outside one plate is to small not covering manufacturer holes so on the outside part of the door I have to use the old handle which was requiring the old screws and in order to fit the old screws I have to make the holes of the new inside handle slightly beager

Worked great, but keep old screws!!

I came to read the comments to see if I was crazy or the screws were too long. Oh good I’m not the only one!! Otherwise it is great!!
