For SwitchLight
I love this product! I read the instructions. Not a hard thing to do ... READING INSTRUCTIONS.
These things are awesome in a lot of ways.
Update: I installed the Guidelights (for receptacles) and it is AWESOME in Boomer lingo. Only improvement I will make is to install wall plate insulation between the wall and cover plate as the cover plates are not snug against the wall. Are these expensive...yeah, compared to plain plastic cover plates but you get what you paid for.
I love these things! I have a really dark hallway in my house and this was the perfect addition. They do go off when there is enough light and will turn on if someone walk up towards it and their shadow blocks the light. But they are not motion detected to be OFF if it’s dark and then turn on if someone walks up. They are just on all the time, which i really don’t mind. They also don’t sit flush against the wall, like others have complained about, but it doesn’t super bother me. I have a totally of 5 plug ones of these and ended up finding a double light switch one and just ordered. I plan to give these as gifts for Christmas too! Very easy to install.
I really like the concept of these SwitchLights and GuideLights when I first saw them. Unfortunately, I bought some cheap Chinese knockoffs off of eBay. They were very poorly made and of the four I purchased; one was physically broken on arrival, one wouldn't light at all, one stopped working after about two weeks and the last one still worked until I replaced it. I decided to order these and couldn't be happier with the product. The quality difference is night and day. The SnapPower product's wall plate is thicker and better made. The contacts are heavy duty, in comparison the Chinese knockoff contacts were flimsy and actually broke on one and I believe stopped making contact on another due to heat. The contacts on the SnapPower are so good that you have to hold the plate to align the screw holes for installation due to the contacts spring tension although they are still super easy to install. This brings me to the LEDs. They are bright enough to navigate while not being blinding at night. You will not be disappointed with these.
This is just what I needed. My parents are getting older and I'm starting to have that "I'm afraid they're going to fall and brake a hip" thing happening. I have a black dog that loves to sleep in the hallway in the summer, needless to say...she becomes invisible and I kept fearing that sooner or later one of them would bite it lol. I've tried several options that have failed for one reason or another. From the motion sensor sucked, I don't want to drill holes but it won't stay stuck to the wall, to the batteries keep dying. In any case, this was super easy to install and it gives you options (low light, medium light or off). Plus the auto sensor takes the work out of having to remember to turn it on for them. It suits my needs and I plan on purchasing one for the living-room too. Yup, the black dog like to sleep there in the summer too :).
I have and interior staircase that has no windows and outlets in it, but at the top of the stairs is a switch for the light. Without the light on it's pitch black and trying to find the light switch in the dark is just an accident waiting to happen. When I first received it I was very optimistic, installation was easy, and I was ready to try it out. Around dusk where it was still light enough to see, the sensor kicked on and I immediately felt grief because the light was on, but I couldn't even see the light on the ground. However, later that night I was blown away. The ground all around was lit up and I could see exactly where the stairs started. It was perfect. I feel like my setup is in ideal conditions with it being in complete darkness. However, with other light shining on it, it isn't great, but it's a nightlight. So it's supposed to help you see, not be bright enough to light up the whole room. There is a switch to turn it off if you don't want it on, which is a nice option that I'll never use, but I'm sure someone might. I would definitely recommend this for anyone needing a nightlight in a hallway. Easily casts light in at least a 10 foot radius. My light switch is kind of high off the ground, so results may vary.
I love the SnapPower SwitchLight so much, I now have 3 in my home. The soft illumination guides me to the light switch. They are easy to install in minutes. For safety reasons, remember to turn off the power to the light switch before installing. Also, plan where you are placing these. I tried to place it in a hallway where a light is controlled by 2 different light switches (one on either end of the hallway). It didn't work. I didn't quite understand the instructions from SnapPower until this happened. The SwitchLights are now installed going into the kitchen, in the hallway going into the master bedroom, and more importantly, going into the garage. It is a wonderful added safety feature to my home. I recommend everyone buy at least one and try it.
