No idea why there are so many good reviews. The drawers are awful. The glides don’t work properly causing them to jam up. Top drawer won’t even open more than 4” and the rest have to be jiggled and moved around till it slides in or out. A contractor put them together so it’s a quality issue not about assembling incorrectly.
I really like these units and they look great in my closet. They were simple enough to assemble by myself. Overall, they are a good deal for the price. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that the back of the unit is flimsy cardboard and not even the same material as the rest of the unit.
I combined this with the drawer unit to make better use of my weird-sized entry closet. the units in this collection come with exact hardware counts, so be careful not to spill or misplace any of those screws or dowels. the optional shelves just sit on the pegs so they dislodge easily, I affixed bumpers to the shelves behind the pegs to prevent that. I would classify this as behind doors furniture because while it functions well for storage purposes, the panels dont fit together perfectly and its not a polished look. overall it worked well for my situation, but I docked a star for the unforgiving build and imperfect panels.
Nice design, decent quality, though particleboard could be more dense and better quality. Very easy to assemble. I ordered multiple units. I had one box arrived damaged, but wayfair.com took care of it. If you use handy man for assembly open the boxes and inspect unit first.
These products were the perfect size and quality to fit a closet project. The opning I had to work with was 48" wide by 36' deep. These four units stacked and placed side by side provided one inch of space on either side. They will serve as a a functional linen closet storage area.
Pretty easy to assemble. I put together 4 with low-level handy-person skills. Didn't take long with my assembly line method. Work nicely- just beware that they are like half drawers meaning that you can see what's inside- fine for a tucked away closet but messy looking if its in a space you can see.
My business deeply regrets this purchase - the dowel holes were not aligned properly, and I had to re-drill the holes in order to put this shelf together. That is totally unacceptable, and I expect the products I purchase to be manufactured correctly. Unfortunately, I do not have the time or bandwidth to repackage and return this product, as my time is worth more than this. My business will think twice before purchasing this product line again via Wayfair.

Not as sturdy as I imagined. We stacked the drawers under the cubbies. Wobbled before we stacked them, then DEFINITELY wobbled once stacked. Were unsure if we would keep them for safety reasons until we secured them to the wall. Seem stable now. Looks fine enough in our toddler’s closet, but as far as getting something durable for long term use, we will consider something of higher quality. Should have read closer, but I assumed they would be soft close drawers. All in all, cheaply made and thought they would be of a bit higher quality for the price.
Fine for a closet.
Bought two of these for closet storage. They were exactly the right size to fit the space, so that was great. Very easy to put together and seem sturdy enough. Some of the wood veneer chipped off in the process of constructing it and the cubbies are an odd size, so finding bins to fit in the cubbies is not easy.
works great in my closet. I would not want it outside the closet. The "middle" small shelves are almost like carboard with veneer. You can kind of tell close up. Nothing of real wood would be that thin. But in the closet, it is fine. Wish it just had adjustable shelves instead. I had to organize my clothes based on the shelf sizes vs how I would want them. Pretty easy to assemble if you do these kinds of things. It is steady and doesn't wobble. Fits sideways in the closet in that side section where you can't normally reach and makes it very usable space. I bought two and now don't need dressers in my bedroom. Great use of space.
I purchased the taupe color drawer unit and am fairly satisfied. The reviews on the item that I read before were pretty accurate. The unit is pretty sturdy and I do like to color. The assembly of the unit was pretty straight forward but took some time due to the amount of pieces it came with. Some people thought the directions weren't good, but I found the pictures to do the job. HOWEVER, when I started assembling, I noticed that there were three pieces (sides of the drawers) that were broken. For how much the unit cost, I was pretty upset. I debated returning the unit, but it would have been a lot to put everything back in the box and ship it back. I ended up fixing the pieces myself and I hope it holds for however long we need. Overall, I am content with the purchase, but with the price, it should have come without broken pieces (something other people had problems with too).
Great Unit; Difficult Assembly
I ordered the ClosetMaid Modular Storage Stackable 12-Shelf Unit with Dividers, Taupe, Brown to use inside of a large steel cabinet in my garage. My need was for shelves to organize the smaller equipment I use for mountain biking and golf. The cabinet only accommodates full width shelves and the height of my golf bag and clubs created a large unused space. I tried building a crude set of shelves with scrap lumber, but the 2 x 4’s and OSB I used took up a lot of space and access was less than ideal. I considered building some custom shelves and drew up plans, but when I priced materials, it would have cost more than the ClosetMaid unit and probably not looked as professionally finished.
Would buy again. Super easy to assemble by myself. I bought 3 other units from this collection too. The only cons are that the box is very heavy, and there was a small dent on the top piece. The dent was hidden when I put the trim on.
These shelves are impossible to put together yourself. I unfortunately didn't have a second person available to help when I attempted. The instructions are not very clear & it ended up breaking into a million pieces in the process. The whole center sections is wooden dowels that must all line up. While attempting to do that they all snapped and broke. So now I'm stuck with a piece a junk. Worst part is, I committed to a whole closet organization system with this brand. I have 2 more of this exact cabinet to attempt to put together and now have to rebuy the 3rd. Not looking forward to installation at all.
