LOVE this newer version!
LOVE this refrigerator! We had to replace our door-in-door LG and we just love the craft Ice, the lighting and especially the convertible drawer - I use it daily - storing my eggs and avocados I eat for breakfast!! It's he perfect height -Just pull out the drawer reach down and grab! It's super quiet - & I usually hear everything. My daughter loves the measured water dispenser. We all love the craft ice!! The regular cubes are a fun shape as well. A little smaller than the last but great. The latch for door-in-door has been improved. I also like that there are just 2 clear drawers in the main section - 3 in the last model lest space efficiency. I prefer the 2 vs 3 levels of freezer storage - more well thought out. Totally recommend!
Do NOT buy this refrigerator!
We got this LG Thinq on a great deal.Black Friday 2022. At first everything was great! The first thing to go out was the in the door ice maker. We turned it off since the lower craft ice maker was working. June 2024 craft ice maker goes out. Started process with Assurant. Tech came out and both ice makers were replaced. Craft ice maker worked, in the door ice maker didnt. Another service tech came out.hit the reset button on ice maker to test it. Nothing happened. 3 weeks later ANOTHER ice maker is installed, tech tests it..no power to it. Tech pulls out the fridge, unplugs it, and plugs it back in. Ice maker still doesnt work. Tech calls LG support does some diagnostic testing and leaves. Next morning, all meat in feezer is thawed out. I start ANOTHER claim. I made an inventory of food submitted it and supposedly a check is in the mail. THEN the refrigerator goes out. I start ANOTHER claim. We have tossed 100s of dollars of food. Next fridge I get will not have ice makers! It will be a plain Jane. Assurant is dragging their feet about replacing it. There are so many hoops to jump through! NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER!
Buyer Beware
We had an old eleven year Frigidaire refrigerator that we use now as a spare in the garage at home. Our first issue with the LG came a year later when it stop cooling. Called LG support and from the remote diagnostic test it pointed to my main fain motor was out. The rep told me that the quickest they could get someone out was almost two months later and they would have to hold about 500 dollars on my credit card. I called local tech on my own and that took two weeks with part being ordered to be done for about the same price or little more. Today the ice maker. Rep says the same that I would have to hold 399 dollars on my credit card and when tech comes out all I would have to pay more is local tax. This is awful, I paid 3600 dollars for this refrigerator and paying about 1000 more for repairs. By the way i am still using my Old Frigidaire it is 11 years old in my garage where here in phoenix it gets up to 118 degrees and it has never broke down.
This refrigerator was everything we wanted however, the ice maker in the door did not work and after getting a replacement, that my husband had to install, it still didn't work. I spent literally hours with LG trying to get a repairman out and finally got the name of the repair company they use and called them directly. After doing much research myself, and then zooming the repair company manager, the parts were ordered and 7 days later were installed. The ice maker is getting water now (still waiting the recommended 24 hours for ice) BUT now the freezer is not freezing so most of our food had started to thaw! We are currently working with Home Depot resolution's team, which so far have been great, to get them to pick up this horrible LG refrigerator and credit us our money. We will then purchase a brand (probably Whirlpool) that won't have the same bells and whistles as the LG but should work a whole lot better (based on many years of experience with Whirlpool).
Don’t Be Fooled
My wife and I remodeled our entire kitchen from the floor to the ceiling. We putchased all new LG appliances including their smart refeigerator. I poured over hours of video reviews including one done by a fellow dressed in a service man’s uniform from the 1950s. He was particularly adamant that you should not purchase LG refrigerators. Supposedly, the in-door ice maker is the worst idea since the Ford Pnto. Nonsense! It works flawlessly if you keep in mind that it’s meant to supply ice for a few dinks an hour. If you and fifty of you closest friends attempt to lean on it all night, you will run out of ice. Ice spheres are produced three or six at a time over a 12 hour period. The convertable drawer is nothing short of masterful! Freezer or refrigerated drawer…your choice. The ThinQ app is nice for tracking diagnostics and temperatures. All in all, we love this unit as well as all of our other LG appliances. The instaview door is handy, although we don’t use it as much as I thought we would. This is a quality unit built by a trusted Korean company that has been making products for many years prior to hitting our country. We highly recommend this refeigerator.
[Rewarded Review] LG Refrigerator is not recommended by this owner.
We have the 5 year warranty on our LG Refrigerator and continue to have problems with it not staying cold enough. We can't trust it to keep items frozen in the freezer. Within the first year the LG repairman came twice but wasn't able to fix the problem. We had the Geek Squad guy to come out (Just after the first year we owned it. He put a new part in the freezer but it still don't keep the freezer cold enough. I believe there is something going on about the automatic defroster causing the problem. The temperature constantly goes up and down but never down to the degree that we have it set on. This is the third refrigerator we have purchased from Best Buy. The first one was Samsung which Best Buy took back as a lemon. We then purchased an LG which was also a lemon. Best buy took back the first LG then we purchased another LG which we have now and it is terrible! Good thing we still have our old refrigerator (Kenmore) which is over 30 years old and has never given any trouble other that having to replace the ice maker a couple of times. We also have a Whirlpool Freezer which is at least 50 years old and has never given a bit of trouble. I would love for Best Buy to take this LG back and we might be able to get one made in Germany rather than South Korea. I am told that they make a good product.
