Large, Sleek and Well-Designed
This fridge has many stand-out qualities: It is more spacious/holds more than other counter-depth models that we have owned. It protrudes minimally because of the lack of traditional handles. The bins have lots of room but don't have quirky enclosed areas where mess collects (like our previous Samsung). The LED lights between the top and bottom doors where the grab handles are located sense motion/turn on as you approach. The shelves are easy to adjust and remove. Rated down one star only because the upper icemaker -- as on most refrigerators -- has to be emptied regularly if you don't use ice much. The craft ice bins in the freezer (which is also well-laid-out and spacious, with 3 levels) offer a lot of extra ice for guests. It took 3 deliveries to get an undamaged fridge (due to shipping, not manufacturing), and Lowe's followed through quickly.
[Rewarded Review] Well, New fridge more ice choices.
So far its a great replacement, I got a little carried away with what I was buying for my budget. It makes 3 kinds of ice, i enjoy the big round ice and so do the pets, it stays nice and cold! My little boy loves to try to make the front glass window light up. He also like seeing himself in it too. There seems to be plentiful spots to put things and i can make more room by moveing shelfs if i need to. Good amount of storage in the freezer too! Oh yeah, and ots nice that the water filters are going to be easier to find. Glad to have cold water coming out of the fridge. Also makes the kitchen look alittle smoother. Also it was nice for somone else to do all the hard work this time :)
Great fridge, with slow icemakers.
Overall, we really like the refrigerator. The glass door which opens separately is a really nice feature. It's very quiet, and seems to hold the temperature quite well. We also really like that it has 3 ice makers for 3 different types of ice. However the icemakers seem to work fairly slowly, which the manual does state that it can take up to 48 hours. I think we'll get used to that in time. The only thing is that we paid $19 for a water hose which entitled us to a "free" installation. It turned out that they couldn't use the hose we purchased, so we essentially paid $19 for installation, which I honestly don't mind. The only thing is now we have a really nice, unused, braided hose that I don't know what to do with.
Great refrigerator, counter-depth, holds a lot!
I replaced a full-size refrigerator from another manufacturer that developed a leak. There are several things I love about this refrigerator:
Solid Refrigerator Max Space in a Small Footprint
Overall, I love this refrigerator the The external size saves a lot of space, but you’re not missing any internal space so happy with the four types of ice. The craft ice is nice and the organization overall in the way that this refrigerator maximizes space internally is a plus. My only negative is for those that like to change up where they’re shelving is located in the refrigerator. You don’t really have the ability to do that how the shelves are configured is pretty much how they need to stay. I love the clean, sleek look externally, not having the handles is an added bonus. I would say if you do have kids be prepared to be constantly cleaning the front of the refrigerator if you have any ounce of OCD about seeing smudges and fingerprints.
Ice Maker Issues
I bought this refrigerator from Lowes about 18 months ago. The in-door ice maker is horrible. It stopped working after about 14 motors. The app indicates it is a fan motor problem. Reviews indicate it is a frequent issue for this refrigerator and replacement of the fan motor often does not solve the problem. There are many other things to try ... I tired them all ... nothing works to repair the issue. The door compartment is apparently not getting enough cold air to allow the ice to completely freeze up before dumping. So, when the ice dumps, a small bit of water dumps with it. That water runs to the bottom of the bin and leaks out of the dispenser. Its a tremendous disappointment. The in-door ice maker wasn't very impressive in the first place. It takes too long to dispense ice, and constantly having to change the control panel from ice to water, and rotate through the rarely used crushed ice selection, was painful. This is a terrible refrigerator. You'd do better buying another brand. Finally, while LG attempts to make its customer service friendly, it's an abysmal experience. You are forever getting kicked off chat and have to re-enter tons of info. And even after you go through all the trouble of entering model and serial number constantly, and uploading a jpg of your original sales receipt, when you do get a live person, they ask you to re-enter the info all over again. Its a complete clown show. I will never buy an LG appliance again.
Temperature Does Not Change or Get Colder
Digital temperature menu allows you to adjust from 33 to 43, but no mater what we set it on the fridge will not get colder than 42 or maybe 41. Thankfully, we called within 48 hours of delivery and qualify for an exchange, Now have to go through the hassle of unloading fridge and unhooking copper line, removing doors, etc. NOT HAPPY.
The CRAFT ice takes a very long time to make.
I like the LG selections but this fridge and one other was available for delivery the next day after I purchased it. This InstaView had the features I wanted EXCEPT for the mirror portion, which is a royal pain because fingerprints show up immediately. I like the stainless portion which is easy to clean and does not show prints but the mirror portion shows prints, even when knuckle double-touch is used to turn on the light for the "view". I'm 70 and wish for household items that are easy to use/clean. This one is not. The LG I really wanted (drawer that changed from freezer to fridge temp) could not be delivered for at least 10 days. That is not possible when my KitchenAid quit working after only 8 1/2 years, meaning I would have to get by without a refrigerator for that long (or more if it still was unavailable after the 10 days).
[Rewarded Review] LOVE IT! Amazing features
I have owned this for about a month and so far I love it!
[Rewarded Review] Main take away-Ice tastes awful
I was very excited about this fridge, its nice that it is counter depth and it’s aesthetically pleasing. The mirror is pretty. The door in door is my favorite addition. Also love the mini and craft ice! Fun fact though, the craft ice is a great concept you can choose if you want it to make 3 or 6. I was thinking awesome 3 or 6 at a time? No. Its 3 or 6 a day. That part kind of shocked me. Our list of cons- even after dumping water and ice for weeks the ice tastes like plastic/chemicals when it melts. Were an icewater drinking household and even my children hate the taste. I figured once we got through dumping the full ice bins a few times it might taste better but it does not. Another negative is finger prints. Which is a given with a mirror door so thats just a small thing. I also had a hard time finding a place for condiments as I wanted to put jars of fruit and drinks in the mirror door to be displayed and easily accessed. Since the ice maker is in the door it doesnt make a ton of ice so we do utilize the drawer mini and craft ice a lot but those two seem to taste even worse than the door ice. The last is that the door slams shut and shakes the entire fridge. It isnt very solid so when it slams its loud and shakes everything in the door. We have had it for a month now and are returning this fridge to get a different one as the cons outweigh the pros for us.
[Rewarded Review] Nice concept, poor execution. Don't buy!
Interesting concept with a lot of high tech features.
The quality does not match the price
After one year here are my hot takes:
Awesome fridge!
We bought this to replace the side-by-side fridge that came with our condo -- definitely my least favorite configuration! This fridge was a pleasure to fill up! Lots of door space. Lots of shelf space. It feels so luxurious to store a large casserole without balancing it on an angle on top of other fridge stuff. And it's such a treat to easily see and access all the stuff in the freezer. (I was tired of cold, hard packages falling out onto the floor!) My favorite feature? I think it's the shallow drawer at the bottom of the fridge section. It holds lots of those small items that seem to get lost or to clog up the rest of the fridge. My least favorite feature? The fingerprints on the glass door! But I can live with that! I'm a happy customer.
[Rewarded Review] Compact but Large Enough - In-Door Ice & Water
This fridge is so much better than we imagined. The ice & water delivers without dripping. We also use the 2nd door more than we thought and is really convenient, although, being able to look inside is not something we use but it looks cool. No issues with temperatures and it steadily makes ice. The in-door ice is quicker along with the mini-ice which is nice to quickly cool your drink. The craft ice is slow but do not use as much as the more convenient door ice. We knew ice & water would be used a lot in SW Florida which is why this fridge stood out. We also like the counter depth, and it still has plenty of room. The freezer with the extra drawer is nice to help keep items available and not lost in the bottom bins. The app is also a nice touch and handy. All in all, if it stays reliable, we love this fridge and comment on it routinely.
[Rewarded Review] Very Sleek, Great Ice Options
This is a very sleek looking refrigerator. I love that despite it being counter depth, it is a full size fridge. This refrigerator has 4 different styles of ice. There is cubed and crushed available in the door and mini cubed and craft in the freezer. The Craft Ice is round and comes in two sizes large, which is slightly smaller than a tennis ball, it makes 3 at a time, and smaller which is golf ball size and makes 6 at a time. There are mats in the ice bins to deaden the noise of ice dropping. I like the varieties of ice, but two ice bins do take up freezer real estate. There are no handles on this machine, you open the fridge at the bottom of the fridge door and the top of the freezer door. There is a light at the top of the freezer door that comes on when someone passes by. This is not a door in a door model, but it you tap on the right side twice, the fridge will illuminate and show what's inside.
