Good fan. Wish the website had been more informative about the "optional remote"
Love the fan. I wish this website had been more specific about the pull chain factor. There is no remote transmitter ALREADY iINSTALLED IN the fan assembly. . . so it ONLY operates with the pull chains. I had assumed I could buy a universal remote control to operate the speeds and light dimming. No. After I paid for the electrician to install the fan and light ("sold separately") I had to come back to 1STOP and order the $150 transmitter & receiver. I will be paying the electrician for another trip ($$) to take down the fan, install the transmitter so I can use the special remote. Not thrilled.
This is a great fan that we installed on the front porch of a neighbor’s house. It looks great and works fine.
Great small fan. Wall control can use improvement
Great fan. Moves a lot of air for the price and well-built. Only wish the spin direction was not adjustable via the wall control so that no one accidentally switches the spin direction while making other adjustments to the fan.
Super quiet-makes no noise!
Specifically how quiet it is. I had to return a previous one as it made a humming noise I couldn’t get used to. I have low ceilings and this style didn’t hang too low. Totally happy with both ninja fans I purchased.
These are NOT outdoor fans...
Well, unless you’re into a heavy rust patina. Two of these fans have been in an enclosed ceiling outdoor porch for about four years. Exposed to nothing but morning dew.

These are NOT outdoor fans. Well, unless you're into a heavy rust patina. Two of these fans have been in an enclosed ceiling outdoor porch for about four years. They've been exposed to nothing more than morning dew, which unless you live in a desert clime, is what being 'outdoors' entails almost everywhere. As you can imagine looking at the photos, they've looked pretty bad for a while now, and they've become such an eyesore that my wife finally made me take them down.
Problems from day one
Installed by an electrician. Ran fine for and hour, then started making a loud banging noise and then lost power entirely. MinkaAire support was only slightly helpful in sending replacement receiver for me to install, but returned it anyway. Customer shouldn't have to install replacement parts in a brand new fan.
Not silent, bright glowing blue light
Even on the low setting, it's not silent. This is unfortunate as the fan is situated in a bedroom, and I am a light sleeper. Likewise, the bright blue light that emits from the control panel disrupts sleep. Otherwise, the fan and integrated control panel are nice. I expected better for this price, because I won't get to sleep with the fan running as I had hoped. The installation was also insanely expensive, making this a significant investment.
So far, So good!
We installed ours 5 years ago, on the balcony of a beachfront condo in South Florida, and it still works as well as new. For the first couple years we’d get some rust on the white painted finish that could be wiped off fairly easily. This year not so much: Some of the rust appears to be permanent but not bad. I’m hoping to get a couple more years out of it given the location. The salt spray is a killer…
Great Fan
We have had this fan for 6 years. We sleep with this ceiling fan on every night. Initially, our fan wobbled a little, but we were able to adjust that out. The only reason I gave less than 5 stars, is that there is no remote included. Otherwise, it's a good, quiet fan. It creates a lot of airflow and looks lovely.
I was thrilled to find a small size fan that hugs the ceiling for a tiny sunroom.
Loud clicking
So disappointed in this product! We had this fan professionally installed and it looks great, but after running it a couple of times it began making a loud clicking noise that was literally loud enough to wake my daughter up at night. I had the electrician back out but they were unable to fix it; it is an internal component in the fan. I contacted The Home Depot and they are willing to replace the unit, but I would have to pay an electrician to uninstall first, send it back, and then pay for a reinstall, resulting in a price way more than the fan itself! If I had had Home Depot install, I likely would've been able to have them replace without additional charges so beware - if you cannot install yourself it may be worth having Home Depot come and install. I decided to leave the fan and run it in reverse but now, months later it is making the same clicking sound in reverse too. The manufacturer is no help either, they just say I have to deal with the seller. Ugh. I would recommend trying another product for this amount of money.

Quality fan, very easy to hang. The blades are much sturdier than most. Plastic, yes, but high-quality. Only negative is the switch which has to be hard-wired. It feels terribly fragile and flimsy — doesn’t really match the sturdy fan itself.

For upwards of $300, I expected something better than flimsy plastic blades. And I don't know what genius designed the fan blade bracket installation, but they clearly had more than two hands. It's the only way I can understand creating a bracket you have hold with one hand, while holding the blade in place with another, all while trying to twist your body so that, while on a ladder, you can see up into the fan assembly ALL while trying to hold the fan still to prevent turning while you're trying to screw the bolts in. And then finally, do not put the summer/winter switch on the remote right beside the speed dial. I can't tell you how many times, in just two weeks, I've had to turn the fan off, wait for it to completely stop and THEN change direction. Believe me, the little switch normally found on the housing is enough.

The ceiling fan is sleek looking and operates quietly. One criticism is that the screws are quite visible because they are metallic instead of being the same color as the rest of the fan, which is white. However, I think that I can paint them myself and will visit my local hardware store to obtain the right kind of paint.

To be honest, I was only familiar with other brands of fans, but I saw this online and this is by far the best choice for a room fan! It's beautiful to the eye! Petite. Does not make any noise at all and it cools wonderfully! I installed 3 in my rooms and got the 52" for the living room, so 4 fans total. I did it myself and it was seriously very straightforward.
Being returned, but regretfully so
When I order this fan the description said it had a hand held remote. When I received it there was a single pole (one switch) wall control. I needed the ability to install it with a three way switch (a double pole installation) or two remotes. It was important to me to have the two switches and one wall control just wasn't going to work. I contacted Overstock and they reached out to the manufacturer who was not flexible. Overstock said they were correcting the website description and sent me a free return postage. Whoopee, now I'm waiting for a different fan that isn't as attractive. If the manufacturer had sent a hand held remote control I probably would have been happy with the fan, and it would have cost them less than the restocking fee. You should probably choose a different manufacturer.
Very happy with this fan
Our electrician recommended Minka Aire when we had to replace a ceiling fan that no longer worked. Now that it's been up for a few days I can say I'm very happy with the referral. This unit looks great and functions well. My only complaint is that the Minka Aire 'universal light kit' I bought to go with it didn't fit for some reason. Why call something universal if it doesn't fit with all your products??
2 Stars
I bought this fan because I have it in brown in my living room and like that it only has 3 blades making it look less obtrusive. I also like that it is a flush mount and that it only comes down about 10 inches from the ceiling. I bought white for the bedroom so that it would blend in with the ceiling. The blades on the white fan are very shiny plastic. My brown fan may have plastic blades but they have a wood grain look and a matte finish. I am surprised at the white blades looking so cheap considering the price is a lot more than some others of a similar, basic style.
We have 2 of these installed, and 2 awaiting installation. We've had one for over 2 years, and it is very quiet (makes a little "reassuring" click when reversing fan direction for the change in seasons). We like the LED light that has dimming capability. We have both the white and the pewter/wood grain blades. The electrician reported (without me asking!) that it "went in really easy." For the smaller rooms (bedrooms), we chose white, and it serves the intended purpose of cooling (or pushing warmer air down in the cooler months), but "goes away" with the white ceiling. In the larger rooms, the pewter/wood grain is a nice feature. There are no annoying fan chains hanging down or clicking. We're really very pleased with these. The other two are going up this week. Perfect solution in a mid-century house that doesn't have great airflow.
