Missing Screws and Terrible Customer Service

I was missing a bag of screws during installation, so I called customer service to get a replacement. Ideally, I just wanted the screw sizes so I could buy them at Home Depot and avoid waiting days to finish installing my fan. Instead, I spent 25 frustrating minutes on the phone, put on hold over five times. The representative seemed clueless about my problem, despite me clearly explaining that the bag of screws was missing from the box. When he finally understood, he tried to charge me $8 for the replacement screws—absolutely ridiculous. What a complete waste of time. And to top it off, he couldn't even tell me the screw sizes I needed. Total garbage customer service.

Air flow and light level are less than expected.

This fan was purchased to replace a 37 year old Hunter fan that had started to make noises during the night. Both are 52" four bladed fans. The old fan had what was referred to as a "schoolhouse" enclosure covering the single LED bulb.

Keep looking.

We bought 3 of these fans, just about 2.5 years ago for each bedroom of my new house. We hired an electrician to install them. EACH ONE of them has an issue with the receiver. When you turn the light on sometimes it stays on, sometimes it turns off and on again, and sometimes it goes through the dimming cycle. I have performed the hard reset recommended on a couple of sites countless times to no avail. I wish I had spent the $$ on something different. Additionally, the remotes are a strange shape and configuration. I have had fans that come with a remote cradle to mount over your switch to hold the remote. This one does not have that. I command strip velcroed them to the walls but it is kind of tacky looking.

only had it for a week or so now, but love it! Works perfectly in our little 10x10 room , and sits close to the ceiling so no one's head gets cut off (a bonus if you actually like your family ;-) ). I've seen some comments about not liking the clockwise/counterclockwise switch being in the light housing but honestly - for the two times a year I will access this switch and the fact that the light covering simply twists off (no tieeny tiny screws involved) and the switch is right there, this is no big deal. So far, I really like it and I'm glad we chose it.

Good fan for the price

We bought a Dempsey for a guest room. It’s very quiet and has OK air flow but it is a small 44inch fan which might explain the airflow. It is sturdy and the light is good. We like that the remote shows the three speeds so you know which speed you’re choosing. I wouldn’t say it’s stylish in appearance (it’s bulky-looking) but it works for what we need it for. It’s a good fan for the price.

Lasted 2 Years

Definitely a nice looking fan and solid construction. Very quiet and everything but the capacitor or receiver electronics failed after a couple years. They only offer limited warranty on these parts up to a year so we effectively wasted our money on this. It was installed by a licensed professional electrician. I inspected the connections and it all looks perfect. Breaker is on, light switch engaged, and with a volt meter I confirmed there is power going into the electronic portion with readings it’s coming out when the fan and light works. But after about a minute the unit shuts off and there’s still power going in, but not coming out.

Bad customer service.

Bought 2 of these fans online for bedrooms.

I purchased the fan because of the reversible motor option, unfortunately the reversible switch is not incorporated within the remote control, Instead, one has to remove the glass covering the light in order to access the reversible switch.

Terrible fan

I have waited to review this fan, because after reading all the reviews—which were mixed—I wanted to give it a fair chance. I had it installed in the spare bedroom, so it does not get lots of use. First, let me say, the fan is very quiet…a plus! The light is another story…it goes on and off on a whim. I have had 4 different ceritified installers, etc. look at it, reinstall it and it still goes off and then back on whenever it pleases. Last night was hot and we had visitors spend the night. I turned the fan on low at bed time for them and in the morning, the fan was off. I figured they turned it off with the remote in the middle of the night. Nope, they said it stopped a couple hours later and now nothing works. No light, no fan, nothing. Checked the remote, changed battery, it is fine. Had the installers come in and take down the fan and check all the wiring. There is power going to it, however, it will not turn on. What a waste of money!!!

Don't Buy a Hunter

Professionally installed fan during a remodel--other fans in house are FINE. Flickering light issue. Called electrician. No issues in house--must be fan. Called Hunter. They tried to distract with pointless "troubleshooting" for a KNOWN issue. After much discussion and pointing out it is a KNOWN issue, they sent a replacement with the SAME lot numbers known to have issues (from the corner of the warehouse where the defective fans live). New fan flickers, of course it does. Paid for fan, paid for electrician to install, paid for electrician to check, paid for electrician to install new fan, trip to UPS to ship old fan back. Now need to pay for a new fan and another job for electrician.

Poorly designed reverse switch(inside glass light)

Who puts the reverse switch INSIDE the glass light? You have to take the glass cover off to reverse the fans! What an awful design! I thought it would be on the remote, but NO you CANNOT reverse the fan with the remote, you have to climb up and take off the light to switch it! Even a simple pull string would have been better. Hunter I thought better of you.

Accessories not included

Ordered three Dempsey ceiling fans directly from Hunter Fans. Remote Control wall holder shows on Hunter website owners manual as being included in box along with instructions on how to attach to wall. Called customer service and informed them I did not receive the wall remote holders. The Hunter rep confirmed that it was showing on their web site as included in the box and the install instructions. I was told that they remove them from the boxes and customers now need to purchase them for $12.99 each and there is nothing they can do. Unbelievable bad business practice that will cause me to never purchase a Hunter Fan and send back the two fans which have not been installed.

Not a fan of this fan

This fan was for a new build. The switches and box were wired to control the light and fan separately. In cannot be wired that way. It is designed for a single hot wire and the remote must be used. To wire separately, the fan has a single fixed speed. Also changing fan direction requires a slight bit of disassembly. So if you want a remote control and only have a single hot wire, then this is the fan for you. If you want to use a remote control and have a useless wall switch, then this is the fan for you. (I don’t like remotes, and I would prefer to use the switches as wired) 3 stars as this wasn’t clear when ordering. 5 stars since it works as designed and looks good.

Remote arrived not working

I bought this fan and installed it yesterday. I ordered a separate remote for like $30 to install into the wall. That switch is wired but also uses batteries/Bluetooth to control the fan speeds and some other functions. It's not perfect, but I suppose it's good because I already have wiring for power and this remote means not having to pull more wires through the ceiling/wall. My complaint is that the remote that came in the fan box doesn't even work. So if I had not spent the extra $30 on a wall control, I would have no way to turn on this fan. The remote has a fresh battery in it. I've also tried pairing it 3-4 times. So this is pretty stupid and left my not very happy with the overall purchase.

The light/Fan flickers and shuts off and on

I am surprised that this model is having so many difficulties, we had this professionally installed and even had a 2nd electrician out to verify it was on a internal wiring issue. this fan and light kit will work and then for no reason flicker off and then back on. ( like a power disruption). The electrician's both were present when this occurred and then verify if it was a load issue. it was not. We even changed light bulbs.. will never purchase this brand again.. Very disappointing.

Looks great, works poorly!!

This fan was a good size for my kitchen area. It does work, was easy to install and all the pieces and parts and instructions were included, even the LED light bulbs BUT, its super noise (groaning sound at all fan speeds) and the lights flicker unless you have the fan on. So basically unless you want to have a disco in your house, I wouldn't recommend this. After reading some other reviews I know Hunter will not do anything about it. I didn't return it because I thought the groan and light flickering issue was because I had a 3 way switch on that circuit was causing low voltage to the light.

Apathetic Customer Care

I ordered 4 fans, and two have defective receivers. Hunter is sending new receivers, but the fact that this is costing hundreds of dollars in electrician fees which Hunter will not compensate us for, makes this fan not worth purchasing. The disregard for customer cost and inconvenience (they are doing the bare minimum...it's as if their philosophy is "what's the least we can do") when their product is defective, is disappointing. I will not purchase from this company again.

I have installed quite a few fans over the years, so I have to say this one was a little different. I liked the way the fan can swing down from the ceiling while maintaining attachment to the ceiling. This allows you to wire it without having to hold it up some other way. Really nice. I didn't like the way the fan blades were installed. It was a little more aggravating than what I have experienced in other blade installations.

got the mat black ceiling fans, these are the best I could find that are "low profile" with using light bulbs rather than light boards. we wanted these as we wanted a replaceable bulb rather than a board that would be a pain to replace. The bulb does make it less low profile than the other options but its ok for our 8ft ceilings.

A really good & powerfully small fan (one issue)

I purchased, installed, and really like this fan. It is perfect for a smaller room but do not let it's smaller size fool you - this fan does a great job in circulating a lot of air. All aspects of the fan we appreciate, except for the fact that the "reverse switch" is inside the light bowl and requires the light cover to be removed in order to reverse the circulation. The only "big" issue I have is with the incorrect advertising (as seen in the installation manual) - this fan's remote does NOT come with a wall holder (the manual defines it as a "cradle"); since I need/want a holder, it looks like I will have to buy it separately from Hunter since Lowes does not carry it. This (false advertising) should immediately be remedied as it does not give a good look for the Hunter name...
