[Rewarded Review] Rotisserie never worked
The Americana is the only electric grill I know that functions similar to a real gas/charcoal grill, uses a real grill with very similar housing, plenty of 'headroom' for food. The product feels very sturdy. I will enjoy using it on my condo patio. The problems: 1) The rotisserie spit is apparently too short, the tip barely sits inside the motor chuck when seated properly, so on rotation easily falls out. Unusable in this condition. I sent a video to customer service, haven't heard back (abt 2 weeks now). 2) the instructions are careless. Shows and refers to parts that don't come with your model (e.g. the grease cup handle). Never says anywhere how you fit a square rotisserie spit into a wood handle that has a round hole (the customer service person told me to hammer it in. Really!), the motor shown in the schematic has its elect cord coming out of the back, while the product's cord actually comes out of the bottom (This was important when i was trying to troubleshoot the rotisserie issue - did I have the correct motor shipped?). Minor items, but signs of carelessness, lack of attention to detail. 4) the stainless colored grill reflector pan is incredibly difficult to clean baked on grease. I'll throw it away before I spend that much time again cleaning (only 1 use). The material seems too cheaply made, poor coating 5) Waiting on customer service to solve my rotisserie problem - It's been almost 2 weeks. Seems too long for a company providing good customer service. Have they forgotten me?

Amazing little grill
This little grill is awesome! I cook on it nearly every night and all year long for the last three or four years. Even through the winter months, in the snow! It does draw a good amount of power so for me I just can't run the vacuum cleaner while cooking, no biggy.
Grill
My grill came while I was on vacation. As soon as I put it together I
BEST EVER FOR APARTMENT DECKS
Bought this after thoroughly researching electric grills for apartments not allowing gas grills. This came out on top. Been using it for 3 years with NO problems. Replacing the control unit for $70 as we were it out. Has a great size surface area, easy to control the temp, lid is a big plus. Cannot say enough good. Will get another when this one wears out. Use almost every day in spring and summer. We use a high capacity extension cord to plug inside in a spare outlet. It will pull a lot of power. Worth the extra efforts.
I highly recommend this grill. Reflector problem solved!!
I've seen several people comment about the reflector pan, which was annoying to me, as well. I used to take it off, scrub it clean and struggle with attaching it back.
Great Grill
We had purchased another brand on line and when it arrived, it was too small. We found this grill and were pleasantly surprised when it arrived as to the size and quality of the grill. It ever came with a rotisserie and we love to do whole chickens that way. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great grill.
If you can't use charcoal or gas, but love to grill-BUY THIS
I am a huge grilling guy. I am partial to charcoal because the flavor can't be beat. I am moving into a 3rd story apartment where grilling is not allowed on the balcony. When I heard I couldn't grill it was a huge deal for me. The apartment manager told me that I could use an electric grill and at first I thought that sounded terrible given that I am so used to using charcoal and an electric grill just doesn't sound right. I did some reviews on electric grills and was surprised to hear some pretty good things. I came across someone selling this grill brand new for $60 and decided to give it a try. Tried it for the first time tonight and was not disappointed. Of course the flavor is not quite on par with charcoal or propane, but with some wood chips you can still get a good smoky flavor. If you love to grill and are limited to electric only due to apartment complex rules or state laws, give this grill a chance you will not be disappointed. I am happy to still be able to go on my balcony, crack open a beer and fire up the grill!
Very Pleasantly Surprised
I don't normally offer my opinion on products that I buy (at least not for free), but I am so happy with the Meco 9309 grill that I had to write. After 44 years living in our own home with gas and charcoal grills, my wife and I downsized into an apartment. The local fire code does not allow gas or charcoal grills on apartment decks so we went in search of a quality electric grill.
Grill Died
The grill and the cart make for an attractive package. It was an adequate size and easy to use. I was not happy that it was difficult to get to the drip pan for cleaning. I bought the grill in June 2012 and used it once or twice a week for the season. Next season, it worked for one or two months, then the element would go on and off. After one or two more attempts to grill, it completely died. Now, it was out of warranty. I would expect to get more than a year of use. I would not spend money on replacing the element and would definitely not recommend this grill.
It's great
I brought this grill because I live in an apartment, and I love to grill. This grill is great and can be used on an apartment patio because it electric. I love this grill, and I love the rotisserie. I have roast chicken, pork roast loin. I have cooked all type of meat and vegetable on the grill. Rib are great I add the sauce when the rib have cooked. I use smoke chips to add extra flavor to my food.I always use foil for easy clean up.I would not change to another outdoor grill. You can use this grill in the inside of the apartment or house.
Greatest Grill Ever!
Minimal assembly required - thank goodness! I love this grill! Plug it in & turn it on; 5 mins later you're ready to grill! When you're done, turn it off & unplug it. How easy is that? We can actually eat before bedtime! Love it!!
Are ya grillin?
Of all my Barbecue experiences... Open wood fire, Charcoal, Sterno, or Propane, this electric grill is already my favorite. Our first Barbecue and everybody raved about the taste and juicyness of the burgers and we eat Publix Greenwise chopmeat which is less fatty. I have never been so happy with a grilling experience. No ash to cleanup or get rid of, or worrying about running out of gas.
I saved $50.00 buying this item from you
We cooked a pork roast on the rotisserie. Wonderful flavor and moist. This grill is the best I have ever used. It is easy to use and clean. The motor for the rotisserie is so quiet.
One of the best I\'ve ever used
I\'m a grilling purest and have always use a top quality gas grill or charcoal. Ive had electrics in the past and they were just ok at best. I recently moved to a high rise that does\'nt allow gas grills and had to give up my Weber. I saw the reviews on this Meco; 1st day I had it I grilled thick Rib eyes. It flared lightly... the steaks were fantastic. Next night was marinated chicken.... great smoky flavor and no burning. I use the rotisserie on a 6 lbs roast and it was perfect. This is probably one of the BEST GRILLS Ive ever used gas, charcoal or electric. I am reccomeding it to all my residents in my building.
Amazing
I grill about 4-6 times a week. My condo association forced me to remove my gas grill. After spending endless hours looking into electric grills this one came back with the best reviews. It has lived up to those reviews and more! Many people said it takes to long to heat up. I have yet to see that. I plug it in, go get the food ready, by the time I come back it is hot. Granted its not the same as gas, but the food cooks great and tastes even better. A little expensive but overall worth the price.
One great grill
We live in a town home and the local fire department does not allow propane or charcoal grills within 24 feet of the home, which is a royal pain because we have two outside decks on the second floor. So we opted to try this electric grill and it turned out great. Terrific charcoal taste with no briquettes to soak up fat and no flame-ups. Be sure to leave the grill on for 10-15 minutes when you are done grilling to burn off excess and you won't have problems. It is better than we expected. [...] and worth [$]. We have not tried the rotisserie yet, but will eventually. We bought the table-top unit. I give this the best rating..
I LOVE THIS GRILL
We love our new grill. We're in a Condo so it's perfect for us. [...]. We cook on it at least 3 nights a week. Hambergers, Steak, Chicken, kabobs everything is good. Can't wait to use the rotisserie. Cleaning is really not that bad, my husband even takes out that bottom tray too,a little elbow grease, oven cleaner and your done. We will definitely recommend this grill to everyone, especially those who live in a Condo or Apartment. Thanks Meco, bon appetit!
