Disappointed given this brand and price

I bought this for my bathroom remodel project. We were replacing our tub/shower with just a shower and wanted a quality base. This is a very sleek, low profile base. It is very heavy. I had read other reviews where the buyer mentioned the base had a bow in the middle. I discounted these given it was a Kohler product and normally known for their quality. Unfortunately my assumption there was incorrect. The base they sent me did have a bow in the middle (on the threshold). There is probably a 1/16" drop on each side due to this. This may not seem like a huge issue but it is when you are using shower doors that have a metal track on the threshold. The doors are another thing. If you are using Kohler doors (which I was) you are limited to 3 options. All are basically the same door with a small variation on each. Other Kohler doors will not work with this shower base given that the threshold width is very small (many require a 3" minimum and this base does not have that). I should have checked the base before installing (my bad I guess) but if I had and needed to return the product I would have had to pay return shipping and the job would have been delayed weeks. Due to the bow I had to use as much adhesive as I could and place weights on each end to hold it down while it dried. At this point it appears to be holding. I wrote to Kohler about this and their response was "We would be happy to assist. If you could give the model # that would be helpful." I had given them the name of the product (they only have 1 Ballast shower base). This base is very expensive. I would have expected better of Kohler.

60 X 42 shower pan/base

We have eliminated our whirlpool tub and the measurements are 60 X 42. I see this dimension with a center drain, however I am looking for a right hand drain. You showed the Ballast collection and the Rely collection but neither one has the dimensions, nor the right hand drain. I am also looking for the shower walls, same dimensions. Thanks, PHIL

The curb, or the location where the shower door will be installed. Is not flat it has a bow in it! This is actually the second one that I got. And I made the decision to install the second one. Because time is slipping. I don't have enough time to wait or to take a chance on ordering a third one to see if it's going to come straight or not. I guess the bow deflection is relatively 1/8 in or so. So I'm assuming it won't affect the installation of sliding shower door unit

Is is it normal for the acrylic with resin Concrete Construction mold to come with a bow in the location where the shower door will be installed. Again is that normal

Kohler Shower Pan

This product is great for rehab projects, it is well made and worked out perfectly for our tub replacement project. It is a little expensive, but the quality means it will last for a very long time.

Good product from Kohler

I just had a small bathroom renovated and used this shower receptor for a walk in shower. It's heavy,sturdy and doesn't scratch or buckle when standing on it. If you're not tiling the shower floor I'd definitely recommend it.

Very Very heavy and sturdy. I chose it because mortar is not needed to install. Fits perfectly in the space my tub was removed from.

This is a nice shower base, but it will not work with a shower curtain. Water will pour out on the floor. The shower is level, but water seems to pool at the back and then pours out. It has no lip at all.

Really nice shower base. It is very heavy - need 2 people to unload and position it. Has a great sturdy feel to it.

KOHLER Ballast 60 in. x 32 in. Single Threshold Shower Base

This shower base exceeded my expectations. Extremely solid and well built. SUPER HEAVY! This is not a one person component to install. The finish is hi gloss and has a very attractive look and discreet pitch for draining. This a low profile base and I would say that after the floor is installed, will likely have a 1" - 1.5" entry rise (not including any hardware from the shower doors). I have other Kohler bathroom items and this falls in line with the great quality of those as well. WHen accepting delivery, INSPECT IT CAREFULLY FOR DAMAGE BEFORE ACCEPTING! Again, IT'S HEAVY, but a beautiful base.

Good solid base, heavy weight, and nice low profile. We elected to go with this base versus others to help ensure we don’t experience any base flexing or creaking over time. Has a nice low profile and we tiled up to it and has a nice low finish threshold and look.

Pan is too flat

The slope of the pan is so light, that patches of water just sit there, and do not drain after a shower.

Great quality. Very solid. We wanted something that feels like a solid surface product, but without the weight. This absolutely delivers!

This is a really nice shower tub. It has a resin concrete core, which makes it feel like you are stepping on a really solid surface that is going to last. It is really heavy in weight (over 120 pounds), so that makes it a challenge to install. But if you really want a shower base that looks and feels like high quality, this is definitely one to consider. I plan to get a second one (for a smaller shower) very soon.
