Better than expected!

I am a GC and used this system in my own home as a part of a renovation. I was pleasantly surprised with the weight, durability, and look and feel of the product, so much so that I rearranged another new bathroom to accommodate this same system. I definitely recommend this for pros and homeowners. The install has a few complications, but nothing a 5/10 DIY'er can't do as long as you take your time and make sure to do all the steps

Take your time in preparing the pan location.

The shower pan was everything that I expected. Sturdy and durable. Fit perfectly in the prepared nook. I am now installing the sidewalls. I hope to use it in a few days.

Home DYI

I like how this product is low profile, the gloss black finish looks good. It was easy to install and handle by one person. My skill level is not professional, but I handy enough to do my own home projects. One warning the gloss black finish can be scuffed compared to a standard white insert, use caution when install and installing the rest of you shower.

New pan

First one was broken, I opened box before leaving Lowe’s. I had to reorder. Second one was great, I was expecting it to be somewhat out of shape by a 1/4 or 1/8 inch. It was not. It fit into my alcove perfectly and fitted nicely with thin set. I added spray foam around the sides to reduce the hollow sounds. I’m happy with the ease of installation and the quality of the product.

This is a solid, well build shower base. We very careful hunting for deals and a great price. Most of these things are flimsy and poorly constructed and will certainly cause you to have Re-do your bathroom in a much shorter period of time. This base is quality and will hold up for a long time. I came here after buying and returning 2 others from my local hardware big box. The price here is better as is the delivery turn-around. This is the base you want it you are doing a bathroom Reno or new build. Don’t bother shopping around, it’s right here.

Beautiful

This shower pan is beautiful and very stable. I installed it on slab with a mortar base, and it feels like I’m standing on solid rock (don’t you hate shower pans that feel flimsy underfoot?).

Way better quality than what is in the store. Very sturdy design, feels good just sitting on the floor, before you put the mortar bed down. Water flows very well toward drain and floor surface grips the feet just enough. I was thinking about tiling the shower pan, but I am glad I did this instead. Looks very nice against the wall tile. I recommend the same brand (Dreamline) shower door also. We ordered another door, and the sill of this was not wide enough. Decided to go with the same brand, and, again, very happy. Be aware that this is a 2" drain, and many older houses have 1 1/2" drains. Also, buy the more expensive brass/metal drain fittings. Pre drill the flange holes to the studs and just screw until snug. If you are first time to doing a shower, also look at Kerdi Board instead of cement board. It is was more expensive, but much easier to work with, and it has a defined system for using it. Many support videos from the company.

False Advertising

I says it is acrylic in the description but clearly says "Material: ABS" in the specs. This shower base is made of the same plastic children's toys are made from. REAL acrylic shower base is 1/8" layer of solid acrylic material, a hard, tough and brittle coating. Then it is formed into its shape with heat, then reinforced with fiberglass. There is no substitute for a real acrylic shower base or tub or anything else made with acrylic. For far too long manufactures are calling their products Acrylic when it is actually a plastic, this is simply false advertising. As a pro remodeler I am disheartened by the obvious marketing falsehoods which continue to go on without penalty.

Drain Hole Location Does Not Match Specification

The specifications for the 32 x 60 shower base specify the center of the drain hole to be 30 inches from the side edge and 15 inches from the back edge. The actual drain hole center location in the base received from Home Depot is close to 30 inches from the side but over 15.75 inches from the back edge. Based on years of experience installing many different types of shower bases, I planned ahead for this type of situation and was able to adjust the plumbing to accordingly. This type of anomaly is disappointing and definitely raises quality concerns about the overall product.

Slimline Shower Base

Bought it online through Lowe’s. Looked at other websites as well but Lowe’s was close to my home and had faster lead times. Center drain rectangle, white. Pretty basic. Using it for a custom dog bath that I am putting in my basement. Everything was great but the packaging made it difficult/impossible to confirm product specifications without tearing into the box. Please put a cut through panel or product information on the label, which is large and easy to read.

Excellent shower pan. Easy to install. I do DIY as a hobby and it was easy for me to install it. I put down mortar under it and followed the other instructions. The result is perfect. A pan that is solid, not slippery, and slopes down gently towards the drain. It looks nice too. Doesn't look cheap at all. I chose this because it's one piece and I didn't want to stress over tiles/mortar/leaks. I was not disappointed. Great product. I also had no problem lifting it by myself.

I decided to take my old bath tub out when a relative tripped getting out of her tub and badly injured her hip. This is a user friendly product. The finish is smooth but not slick. It feels great on your feet. I have an old, arthritic dog and it is easy to keep him bathed with the addition of this base, a good shower chair and a long-hosed shower head. No more hefting him (or me) over the side of the tub. It also makes a small bathroom feel and look larger.

Trying to to a "reno" on a 54" wide bathroom...

Trying to to a "reno" on a 54" wide bathroom will definitely take some research. The standard 60" wide bath or shower just won't fit. I found this (54") one (Internet) and ordered it, having it shipped to the local home Depot store, with NO SHIPPING CHARGES. The "other" 54" shower "pan" was "offered" with no mention of "shipping charges" other than "shipped direct to your door." I did a little "digging" and found (fine print) shipping was $328, ADDED to the cost of the shower "pan". This one is very "heavy duty" with special emphasis on what's "under" the shower floor. It has 6: diameter heavy fiberglass "rings" molded, right into the form. It is a VERY "heavy duty" base. and our finished shower looks EXCELLENT, AND VERY "classy"! We used the FRP** panels, always available at Home Depot, as the "sidewalls" for our new shower. At about $28 for a 4 x 8' panel, the shower "surround" was surprisingly "reasonable" (much less than we expected) Our "handyman" did a beautiful renovation on our entire bathroom. We are VERY HAPPY with the new finished bath. **Fiber Reinforced Panels** Very strong, very durable, a GREAT product. BUT, Home Depot's website will load (on my computer) all their latest products on sale, all department "Specials" or "offers", all current "discounts" and pages and pages of products (that I have no interest in) and continue to load more and more products, while my REQUESTED item (that I would "LIKE TO PURCHASE"......will.....eventually load! HOME DEPOT, PLEASE WAKE UP, and give us (me) a more "user friendly" web page access.

I prefer Mustee bases for through and through color and integrated drain, but had to use this base for the wider threshold required for Dreamline Enigma X door. Good product overall, fairly well built. Very low overall height. I don't care for the wide threshold height shelf on the remianing three sides. Seems like wasted floor area. Even with base set in mortar there is noticeable deflection when weight is applied to center of threshold. I assume it is less of an issue on shorter width models. That said, a decent product for tphe money. Packaging was top notch, as i've come to expect from Dreamline

Home delivery was at the promised time. Installation went well after reading the instructions and others reviews that recommended to put the base on a concrete bedding. In place, it is not noisy and feels sturdy. Dimensions are of an commendable precision. I had to move the drain 2 inches with the help of a hammer drill which was a bit difficult at first but finally done. The reasonable weight of the base allowed me to make many position testings before gluing the PVC drain.
