Was good for the first year, quickly fell apart

We bought the Sensi lite thermostat. When I first bought this thermostat, I would have given it 5 stars hands down. I loved it for the price, look, and app. It was easy to use and it was our first smart thermostat. We loved it. We got it when we had a new HVAC system installed.

Great Smart Thermostat, at a Wal Mart price!

This thermostat was really pretty easy to install, as long as you read the directions! I'm also not sure that you could use this thermostat, if you don't have a wi-fi connection available and a smart phone. Put it up to replace a Honeywell Home thermostat, that just never worked right. Definitely not the Honeywell company, that I've been able to trust in the past! This Emerson works great and it's even a little smarter than I had expected. It's able to look at both outside temp. and shows humidity at least on my phone. really glad that I looked at the prices in all the BB stores before I bought it elsewhere. Wal Mart crushed depot and lowes on the price. Thank You Wal Mart!

Heating is cooling - Cooling is heating

I bought two thermostats. I wired them BOTH exactly the same and followed all instructions. One works fine. The other is blowing hot air when set to COOL, and also blowing COLD air when set to HEAT. This is absolutely absurd. We have an upstairs and downstairs unit in a fairly large home. I thought this would make it easier for my teenager to control his room temperature upstairs. Now it’s all jacked up in reverse and there is zero help online. I emailed support hours ago and no response. We live in the Deep South, dealing w a heater blowing instead of cold air is torture. I’m very disappointed and glad I saved my old thermostats.

Simple well designed T-Stat for a great price

This is a great T-Stat. Simple controls, easy to install, likely will not require a C wire for most installations. It had the only 2 features I really wanted; control through wifi and the ability to build schedules. The Sensi app works flawlessly and offers additional controls in the settings menu to control cycle times which works pretty decent although I would rather have control of the actual dead band. Integration into Smart Things also works well.

Smart thermostats have definitely come a long way over the years. We've had our Honeywell original thermostat for over 30 years, and despite the Mercury, it's worked and hasn't needed replacement. This is a clean cut, simple but futuristic, fully functional smart wi-fi thermostat that truly fits the technological times that we are in, at a more than reasonably affordable price.

I have an older wifi thermostat that has worked well, but it's very dated and the control panel is worn out, so when I found this Sensi model, I decided to give it a try. At first I was going to have my HVAC tech install it, but he has been so busy, I gave up and decided to tackle the job myself. The first thing I noticed is that there is very little documentation with the unit. There is a very small "overview" manual which is really more like marketing literature than an operations manual, and there was no installation manual. I finally found the manual on the Emerson website.

[Rewarded Review] Quick setup and support for hybrid energy systems

This is the third smart thermostat I've owned. Previous thermostats worked in one or more "walled gardens", but lacked support for others. I found the compatibility of this device to be one compelling reason to install yet another smart thermostat. The other compelling reason was support for hybrid HVAC systems. My home came with a gas furnace and outdoor HVAC that offers both heat pump and regular electric A/C. Each of the previous smart thermostats required me to abandon the efficiency that comes with the heat pump feature. While I didn't see a drop off in energy efficiency due to this sacrifice, I also didn't get the expected savings because of this trade off. The Emerson Sensi Lite offers compatibility with such hybrid systems, which I can already tell will mean savings on my monthly energy costs. While the A/C will kick on still now that summer is in full force, during evenings and well into the morning when outside air is still cool, the heat pump cools our home. Additionally, this unit enables me to turn on the whole house fan. I know this doesn't necessarily increase efficiency, but it does when you can exchange a point or two on the thermostat for increased air circulation. While some competitor models feature manual fan operation, I don't know of another that does so AND is compatible with so many smart home platforms.

Thermostats have been around for decades. Now that we are in the internet stage, smart thermostats are becoming the norm. In truth the main advantage of having a smart thermostat is having controls also in your smart phone. The Emerson is one smart thermostat.

[Rewarded Review] Simple Just Works Everything You Need Thermostat

It can be a little intimidating to install - rewire something but as projects go this was about as easy as it gets. From package open to install and done was about 25 minutes with nothing more than a couple of screwdrivers. A big one and a little one for the wires. The provided App Seni made the whole potentially difficult process a breeze. It even allow the option In-App for you to photo document your current setup. Here's the one spot I found lacking or odd. Every time I did something on the phone, to take documenting photos for example.. the install process cancelled and I had to start over. Fortunately, to get back to where I was is only like 2 seconds of taps or less. The process to determine your existing and new wiring setup was a BREEZE. They really put a lot of thought here. A couple of minutes later and everything was up and running. An old convoluted, crummy backlit, no low battery warning thermostat was replaced with this state of the art stylish one. The app lets you do everything you needed before with your phone without effort. Full control, scheduling for cool and heat, the auto scheduling is perfect. You can even use geofencing with your thermostat so that your heating and air isn't doing more work for absolutely no reason. A real money saver.

[Rewarded Review] Supremely easy install; powerful/flexible in use!

We’ve been eyeing a smart thermostat for some time now, but the cost has always seemed prohibitive, as has the thought of either an expensive professional installation or a nerve-racking DIY installation of my own. But we rolled the dice on the Sensi Lite given that so many other items in our household are smart-enabled and now part of the Alexa ecosystem of home/remote control capabilities, and I’m thrilled to say that Emerson managed to deliver an incredible amount of capability into a budget-friendly unit that is simple-to-operate while still offering sophisticated HVAC management and control, and it is an absolute BREEZE to install by your lonesome!

[Rewarded Review] Great app based features, no C wire required

The Sensi Lite surprised me in that it does not require a C wire to operate. I've used 3 different smart thermostat models at this point and all have required the C wire, so that was a pleasant surprise even though my setup already has that wire. Connection was super easy - all wires are connected a mounting plate that you actually put on your wall, then you can easily attach and detach the Sensi Lite should you need to change batteries.

[Rewarded Review] Quality thermostat from a solid brand

I’ve been using Sensi for the past 4-5 years, and I recommend them to anyone in the market for a smart Thermostat. The previous models worked great. They have all the functionality of the other brands, but at a much better price. The only thing that I wasn’t a big fan of the previous model, was the look which seemed a little outdated. Plus it never seemed to get an update after years of usage. I just moved houses a few months ago and bought another one, which looked identical from the one I had from years before. Cue the touch screen version.

No-brainer upgrade that I think anyone can do. I am fortunate enough to have a HVAC system that is less than 10 years old, so I think this made the installation process a bit easier. That being said, hooking up the Sense Lite could not have been more straight forward. Everything was clearly labeled, directions were easily understood, and there were no surprises. I do recommend downloading the app since it will allow you to use this smart thermostat to its full potential. Don't let the word "LITE" in the name fool you. This little device is feature-rich and leaves me wondering why I waited so long to upgrade. I love that I can control the temp from anywhere in my home or even when I'm away. I also use Alexa voice control and this pairs so well. I like being able to tell Alexa what to set the temp at without needing to get off the couch (first world problems, I know). At the end of the day, I cannot recommend this enough. It is a fast and easy upgrade that I think anyone could do themselves and quickly improve their quality of life as well as save money by making your HVAC system run more efficiently.

The Emerson Sensi Lite smart thermostat is a great smart thermostat with lots of options for programming and with an easy installation making it easy to get into the smart home scene. Prior to getting this I would highly recommend checking that this thermostat is compatible with your specific heating/cooling unit otherwise you can run into issues or this will just not work with your house. Otherwise, as long as this is compatible with your house, the installation and setup is a breeze, the application will walk you through step-by-step on installing the thermostat and getting it set up for use.

This unit gets the job done although not as well thought out as some others, it does make automation and remote access possible through an app. This also may qualify you for a discount from your power company as well. You just need to be ok with them adjusting your temperatures remotely during peak hours. My power company ponies up a $75 Visa gift card - per year! Something to consider when factoring in the cost of the unit. Its very nice to be able to create temperature routines and monitor your houses temperature remotely. Furthermore, you can also schedule the heat or air to come on at a certain time so its comfortable when you get home from work. Installation was pretty straight forward although I have installed dozens of these so I might find it easier than others. I would say that even a novice could install this; they just need to follow the directions and YouTube is always there if you need further assistance. You can also control this unit with Alexa once you link your account. Its very nice to be able to use your voice to have Alexa turn on and off your thermostat.
