This thermostat is what the DIYer needs, no c-wire is needed for this.

This thermostat was used to replace an old White-Rodgers mercury type thermostat. The install went fast and easy.

I am not a huge fan of this thermostat but there are very few options for 3 wire stats to power open and close. I love supplyhouse.com for the purchase though

Had digital thermostats for years...They never seem to accurately measure the temperature in the house and the unit would just run forever when it came on...Switched back to this older style and the unit cycles off and on at a more constant rate...So its maintaining the temperature you set it to more accurately ...Keeping the house a consistent temperature...The only thing you need to do with this thermostat is set it and forget it...Also be careful adjusting it once it turns on the outside unit will immediately turn on...Moving it up and down to fast will kick the compressor off and on.... so I suggest sliding the cool switch to off position making your adjustments and then switching back to cool...I highly recommend it I even ordered a back up as a spare.

I love, love, love this thermostat! I had a programmable one in my house and I work nights and I would try to program that thing to shut off at night and turn on early in the morning when I got home but the factory presets wanted to turn on while I was gone and turn off when I got home it was a nightmare. You needed a computer science degree to try to program the thing I was so sick of it. I found this simple thermostat, youve got on/off, heat/cool it is fantastic. I also got another one just like it for my mothers house. Shes a senior and those digital thermostats are way too confusing for her to deal with. I really recommend this thermostat.

This is a 3 wire thermostat that is a direct replacement for a old mercury switch thermostat of the exact same design. I didn't even have to change the back plate, I just unscrewed the old front plate and screwed the new one on. One of my thermostats was slightly older so I had to replace the whole unit which just unscrewed from the wall and the wires wrapped around the terminals. This was for a single stage boiler, heat only.

My system has 3-wire hydronic valves on a boiler. It doesn't need to run A/C or anything else. --Steps-- Powered down the boiler. Tossed the middle section of this thermostat used for AC etc, Attached the 3 wires to the same clearly marked posts as before. Attached the wiring plate to the wall. Snapped in the faceplate. Power on/test and done. Incredibly easy. Getting two more to complete the other zones on the house.
