Ok design but finger latch from pulls out

I installed this product for a customer and he called me back, saying the finger latch pulls out. I was able to fix this design by drilling a hole then passing a key ring to prevent the finger latch from pulling out. I inserted the finger latch in position as per instructions. I used a screwdriver to keep the key ring open as I installed it into the new hole. Its a work around solution, however, the manufacturer needs to revise the product.

Looks nice, but a little rickety

The latch looks great but feels fairly rickety once installed. The thumb bar is only held in place by a slight bend in the bar, and can move laterally once in place. When the gate shuts, you have to be deliberate in making sure the bar sets into the cradle on the other side of the gate, otherwise it will bounce out and leave the gate ajar. I needed something that self-latched more securely, so for these reasons, I returned the product.

Not for out-swinging gates

Nowhere on the package does it say that it is for in-swinging gates only. The confusing instructions mention in-swinging and out-swinging so we assumed it worked for both right up until I read the answer to question 1 on your Q&A. Very deceptive.

Thumb Lever is not secured

What's the deal with the thumb lever being unsecured. It can be removed or fall from the assembly. The installation video just glazes over this fact. Very poor design. Two other reviewers have the same issue. Nonfunctional product without aftermarket Macguyvering. I do not recommend this product.

Could use better instructions

Instructions arent that clear, it requires drilling 2 1/2" holes next to each other which can be a challenge.

Works nicely.

Great product. Not the easiest to install for me, as I found the variety of configurations a little confusing. The pics in the instructions install the opposite to the way that I needed. But I figured it out. Works great. The only minor issue is that if someone in the know wanted, they could simply pull out the thumb piece and take it. The only thing holding it in is gravity.

Thumb lever flies off

I like the look and function of this hardware, but after installing I encountered a problem. Every time the gate closes hard, the thumb lever flies off onto the ground! I'm not sure how to keep it attached to the door.

Thumb lever falls out easily

As others noted the thumb lever slips out easily. I drilled a hole through the lever just behind the faceplate and installed a pin to hold it in place. Not a big deal but the design needs to be modified. Also the instructions are worthless.

Horrible Product

Thumb-piece does not ever stay in and completely falls out each time the door is shut. Like other reviews on here, a design flaw that cannot be remedied with anything other than an at-home, ugly looking fix. We are going to replace this with another product. Complete waste of $20.

Thumb piece falls right out

This is poorly designed and now we are stuck with it or left with holes in our gate. There is nothing to keep the main thumb mechanism in place. It just comes right out.

Nice Door Set

It’s a little bit difficult to open and close this latch because the fit is really tight but that also increases the security of it I suppose. I added a padlock to mine and wish that had been into the description, we weren’t sure at time of purchase if there was a hole for one and there is. Pretty handle for the front of the gate, looks nice.

Thumbpiece is not secured.

The thumbpiece can easily be removed from the outside of the gate. There are no instructions on how to secure it. I called Nat. Man. and they know it is an issue, but didn't have a resolution. Overall it is a quality product. I've rated it low because of that issue.

Terrible

This looks great. High quality metal. However, the thumb part wiggles out all the time. Okay, so I put a piece of wire to secure it. Additionally, the latch that’s meant to hold the bar so the gate stays close is so minimal the gate just bounces open. Now I’ve cut up my gate and I don’t want to remove this because there will be holes all over from it. But I do not feel secure.
