Not a long term proposition

The Brother performed well without any issues for 15 months until we have to replace the drum unit and the waste toner. And now everything we replace the toners, the printer constantly asked to reset the toner. This was never the case. To reset the toners is not a straight forward task as the option is not available via the normal menu and you have to go through the "back" door all the time.

never buy Brother

This company has NO after sales product support. There is a chat thats all. You cannot diagnose the problem as no service center exists. They tell you to go to Best Buy to get product support.

Great resolution for a color laser

This was purchased for a charitable Fraternal Society in order to save money by printing in house. Set up has been incredibly easy. Open the box an unpacked the unit, placed it where it was to be located, logged it in to the wi-fi and we were printing.

Brother printers are known for their reliability and high-quality printing. They offer a wide range of models to choose from, whether you need a basic printer for everyday use or a more advanced one for business purposes. Brother printers are easy to set up and use, and they have great connectivity options, allowing you to print wirelessly from your phone or tablet. The print quality is excellent, with sharp text and vibrant colors. Overall, Brother printers are a solid choice if you're looking for a reliable and efficient printer. 😄🖨️

Very nice printer!

This is a very nice printer. It's not the cheapest thing out there, but I believe you get what you pay for. Color looks good, very fast, and it's a real linux/postscript printer. I can use this with literally any OS. Also something I didn't realize is that it can detect and automatically re-order toner and supplies, so you never get caught running out of a color unexpectedly. Really nice printer, and you are not locked into only buying proprietary cartridges. I have had only good things to say about my last B&W brother laser, which was still going strong without any trouble when I recycled it (really wanted color for my kid's school projects). I beleive this printer will be exactly the same quality as the old one.

Easy setup for my iMac. Fast Printing. AirPrint is Fantastic

My 12-year-old Xerox color laser died. I decided I needed a medium-duty color laser printer for my wife's business, and we home-schooled our daughter. I followed the instructions and updated the software/firmware before using the laser. The AirPrint works fantastic, and it's faster than my old color laser printer. However, I did have a ghosting or blurry text printing issue when printing color PDF documents. It took over an hour with Brother tech support to resolve the problem, but we fixed it by changing the printer settings to AUTO mode. If you have PDF printing issues with blurry or fuzzy text, ensure your laser printer settings are in AUTO mode.

Terrible duplex quality

When printing duplex with a laser you expect it to align. With this printer, it would be out from 2 to 5mm the more you print. It doesn’t maintain the margins you would expect it to when printing documents, booklets or books.

WORKHORSE - GOOD VALUE - EASY OPERATION

This is my second purchase of this same printer. It is a work horse - easy to operate and very well built.

Excellent Color Laser Printer

I had tagged this color laser to replace my dead Canon inkjet but had delayed buying it then Covid-19 hit and everything with chips (including, apparently, toilet paper and sanitizing wipes) disappeared from the shelves or became ridiculously overpriced. I put in a request to be notified when this unit became available again and some 13 months after the shutdown, I got the email. B&H took my order and delivered the printer when promised. It was easy to bring into the office and set up. It's a little heavy but not overly so. Removing all of the packing tape and plastic retainer clips was a bit of a chore, but once that was done, I powered up the printer, installed the driver, and printed some test pages. They came out beautifully and quickly. Print quality is excellent for business use. This is not a photo printer so would not be an ideal choice if that is your primary intended use. However, this printer can produce decent business graphics. Warm up is fast and we'll see how long the toner lasts. Per page costs are super low for a laser printer. I'm very happy with this purchase and with B&H.

Dependable

My situation is low volume home use. I became very frustrated with an Epson inkjet printer because when I needed to print, it would not. The most likely reason was the nozzles clogged when the ink dried out. The method to unclog the nozzles was push fresh ink through at much higher volumes and pressure. This torqued me because it drained the ink cartridges very quickly plus it rarely completely worked. One nozzle always seemed messed up. Online research indicated my low volume of use was the problem. The recommended solution was quit using inkjet printers and switch to a laser jet. The reason for this is a laser jet medium is a dry powder, not a wet ink. The printing process seems to be spray on dry powder and melt it kind of like wax onto the paper. I have had this Brother printer for 2 years and 7 months. It always prints when I need a hard copy. Two issues were occasional paper jams (look at the instructions to find all the panels to open clear the jam) and whenever I run out of ink I have to relearn the steps to change the cartridges (probably a condition of the ageing process). A third issue which may not actually be a printer issue, but a Microsoft issue, is occasionally when i reconnect my HP envy laptop to my home LAN, MS Word can not automatically find the printer and I have to search for the printer so the laptop can send a file to the printer.

Brother HL-L8360CDW

I bought the print a week ago. Have only run a few prints thus far but everything went smoothly in setup. The printer is connected to my network via ethernet (more positive, secure printing that way). I do not do a lot of color printing, most is monochrome b/w. With a laser printer using dry toner, I don't have to worry about ink drying in cartridges and print heads used by inkjet. I do need to print a few rough photo proofs. This I tested immediately after installation. Though not not the best photo quality, the print quality is more than adequate to convey ideas to customers. This printer is replacing an aging HP color laser that woud no longer hold color register. Colors registration would vary up to 1/32" sometimes. Although I have other monochrome Brother printers and have installed them for numerous clients, I had no experience with their color laser printers. In my research, I had read of some customers complaining of some specific model(s) ob Brother color lasers printing very dark images with no adjustability. In the few prints made thus far, I have not experienced this at all. Another common complaint of some Brother printers mentioned by reviewers is a failure to wake on network print signal. Again, I have NOT experienced this with any of my Brother printers, monochrome or color.

I wonder why others praise colour output - it bought this printer because of positive reviews on its colour performance and I was deeply disappointed. I know it's not a photo printer, but I would've expected people's faces to look at least adequate on plain office paper like they did on my previous printers. If you are a Linux user it gets worth. First, colour performance when printing from Linux is much worse, to the point where people faces look like zombies. Some documents refuse to print - empty pages come out, e. g. from PDFs produced by Google Docs. The thing is that even though this printer is advertised as supporting PostScript you can't get away with just a PPD file in linux - you need their CUPs binary drivers that provide a rasterization filter, but probably it's not updated as frequently as it's Windows counterpart, hence the reduced colour quality. Android app is lacking is well - it takes forever to print a photo and it fails mid-way 50% of the time though both printer and phone sit near the router. The app itself looks very dated. On the bright side, I can say that build quality is very solid, mono output is great and I didn't have any mechanical issues with it for the two years (though I've printer only ~2000 pages)
