perfect fit and we love it! Made a huge difference in our bathroom
Very easy to install. Easy to follow instructions
One of the glass panels broke into pieces
Whie installing, one of teh sliding door panels broke into pieces. We need to buy just single glass panel. Does the manufacturer sell this? Thanks
Nice product but install takes time.
A quality product--I like looks and performance very much. Do-it-yourselfers will find installation harder than on some other products. Read and follow instructions step by step--you will later find out why some things aren't done as usual. Need hacksaw and small grinder will be useful for cutting aluminum. Have to force handles on with small block and hammer. An error in instructions caused me to call Basco for clarification. Customer service was very good.
There's some metal sawing to fit which I expected, otherwise installation is mostly straightforward after reading the instructions carefully a few times. However, the pull handles....
Door exploded when hanging
The exterior door exploded (tempered glass) while attempting to hang the exterior door panel. The instructions specifically ask to install the interior door then the exterior door. This involves tilting both doors into the enclosure while trying to slide the outer door up and into the track. As I was doing it I had the thought that it might be easier to do it in the opposite order. It didn't hit anything hard or with much force, it must have been the combination of my hands in the middle, contact with the track on the top and the inner door pressing on the bottom that overstressed the door.
Bad instructions and poor QC
Instructions were terrible and the company seems to have poor quality control. I originally had the wrong instructions in the box and when I was inventorying the contents it didn’t make sense. Also one of the rollers on the door did not have a spacer which caused it to keep rolling off the track. The service representatives on the phone were very professional and did everything they could to fix the problem. I am a handyman and have done plenty of shower doors and they are normally a pretty easy job but this one took me all day because I had to keep taking it apart and redoing steps that I had done wrong because of the bad instructions.
Neutral because I have no idea yet. The crate hasn't been opened. That's not my job. I'll let you know after the contractor comes out to open it. Ask me in a week. Meanwhile it's sitting in the garage, with the proper long side up.
Fit exactly as planned. Easy to trim to size. Looks good. Only helpful hint. Be sure to put the gasket back in the base piece before installing it.
The installation manual needs a few corrections/clarifications. However, if you read through the installation manual a few times, you should be able to work through it.
This door was terrible to install. It was way bigger then the size ordered. Then the hardware also had to be cut to size. Would have been great if we had the tools needed for cutting steel. The directions were also difficult. The quality of the door is just ok. Since our shower is an irregular size it will do but not very satisfied with it.
Not of the quality anticipated.
While I did install this unit, it was out of necessity. My framed door was showing its age and this was the best option given size constraints.
Looks great and easy to install!
Made in the USA
This shower door is nice quality. Would I recommend it? Yes and No. It is a nice shower door and the installation went fine until the door handles were put on then I realized that the holes were not over far enough for the door to catch the magnet when shut. I ended up not putting a handle on the inside. Bad design on the handles. Also on top of the side with the hinge there should have been a cap, doesn't look finished. But overall pretty nice.
The doors are very thin and flex under the smallest amount of pressure. The tracks and handles fit various size doors so they need to be cut for the exact door size in the package. The handles are VERY difficult to press onto the glass door unless you use a liquid soft soap. That is not a tip offered by the manufacturer, but the handles have not moved in two months. The one plastic towel bar end is rough pitted and not polished smooth. Difficult to cut the towel bar to the exact length with no guidelines or template. The manufacture should provide the exact measurement for each size door.
010 very good quality
The door looks fantastic and works well so far. It’s not rocket science to install, though it took some time to complete. This was no fault of instructions or with parts, it’s just the shower corners were round and cutting and filing and grinding and sanding took a bit of effort to get it to fit. I’m extremely handy and had never done a shower door, so like all things, the first time is the hardest since you don’t know what to expect. Any issues with installation are on me, not Basco. It’s so nice to get rid of the junk that was there and have such a nice well made door now.
Basco shower doors
It was the perfect width and height
Great finished appearance, good value
I give this unit 5 stars for great finished appearance at a good value. However, there are a few things that pull my overall rating down to a 4. First, the hardware is nicely blister packed but not referrenced to the Letters for each part in the instructions. The towell bar for some reason is not cut to length for these doors and must be cut. The side rails were not perfectly straight, so look out for that. They must be sprung straight when drilling the installation holes. The aluminum is extremely soft and 'sticky', best to lightly lube screws before screwing them into drilled, untapped holes. In my case, my fiberglass shower had radii and contours that required a fair amount of shaping on the bottom and side rails. Protect all surfaces near cutting and shaping areas to prevent scratching. The handles that go onto the glass are extremely tight. So tight that I was fearful of breaking the glass installing them. I strongly recommend lubing the vinyl shims with a flim of vaseline or similar to get them to go on easier. The door hangers/rollers were not tightened down fully from the factory, and the doors started to slip out of them after being hung. Make sure they are tight prior to hanging. All somewhat minor issues, but taken together they were somewhat annoying as they made the installation take longer than needed. One last heads-up, don't assume anything on your shower is perfectly square or plumb. Check first to make sure the adjustments of this unit can accomodate your needs.
