Works as advertised

I purchased some of these about a year ago to place around the house in various locations, pretty much any where there could be a water leak. Recently we had one go off, it was in the water pan for the water heater. My mother, who lives with us but never hears anything we say, somehow heard this high pitched squealing coming from the garage where it was located at. We were able to change out the water heater before there was any damage. So here I am, ordering more, and leaving this review.

Took way too long to receive

No opinion other than easy to use. Obviously don't know yet if it works because it's one use and done.

These are tiny devices that took 3 weeks to arrive. I can't really give it 1 or 5 stars since it's a "one time" use device.To test it is to ruin it. So I am going on the assumption that it will works as advertised. I put down 2 of these in the area where I have had water issues in the past. Hopefully these will notify me immediately when the next leak occurs. That will minimize the clean up.

Easy to remove from packaging, then just place near/under potential water leak spots!

Not the best

This alarm has two main issues:

OK OPTION FOR A WATER LEAK ALERT

LOOKS OK, GOD FORBID IT GETS TESTED WITH A LEAK! A TAD FLIMSY, BUT IF IT "SCREACHES" LOUD ENOUGH IT WILL HAVE DONE IT'S JOB.

Detected small accumulation of water on floor.

Over 2 years ago we set one of these Honeywell single use alarms next to a gas hot water tank located in the far end of our basement and - forgot about it. One evening, we heard a continual high pitched alarm. Traced it to the basement and found that a hot water tank shut off valve (hot) had sprung a leak. If not for the alarm, it might have been a while before leak was detected. It continued to sound for 24 hours. I bought four more.

Love this product!

Love these! Leaks scare me and these leak detectors have saved my life a couple of times already! I place them under the sinks, around the toilets, near the water heater and washer and dryer. They are not too sensitive and they have only gone off when there was actual water detected and not just normal moisture! Highly recommend!

I returned this item. There is no way to test...

I returned this item. There is no way to test it for battery life without ruining it. The units I was replacing are closed, so aren’t ruined after one alert, and they have nubs on the bottom that chirp when touched with a damp cloth, so I know the battery is not dead. The old unit stops chirping after it’s lifted from the wet surface so can be reused, even though it is “one time” use.

I would not buy this product again

This product is not from Honeywell as the advertisement picture indicates. This product is for one time use only, not a replacement for the original Honeywell water detector which can be used over and over again.

This is an affordable way to protect vulnerable areas around the house.

Saved us 2 times now!

This little gadget has saved us more than once! One behind our fridge whwn the water line was leaking and again just tonight when a rust hole opened up in our 20 year old water pressure tank!
