faulty milk frother

bought this about a month ago and never worked right from day one switch it on put in the milk to in between min & max lines with frother magnet inserted. Switch to frother on dial and press start with the illuminated button, the machine starts spinning to froth milk but stops after bout 5 seconds and keeps doing this over & over, not even getteing to heat up milk, so therefore no frothing happening. It has worked about twice properly, but it is so inconsistent, it's like the spin gets too quick and it cuts out and stops. Very bad design.

Doesn't heat milk to hot

No. I would not recommend this Smeg Milk frother. The temperature can not be altered so you have to accept that your milk must be consumed within SECONDS from when the product beeps that it is complete. I would describe the temperature of the milk as just above tepid. Certainly does not heat to a nice hot drink temperature. If I knew this, there's no way that I would have purchased this. So shop around for a frother whereby you can create HOT drinks. Luke warm drinks is very frustrating when you want to make a hot chocolate or something. Shame. Because it is a very attractive and compact design and looks great in my kitchen. But it's all glam and no substance. It's certainly put me off purchasing any Smeg products in the future. Avoid unless you like tepid temperatures for your 'hot' drinks! Not even my marshmallows would melt in my hot chocolate as it's that lukewarm. Very disappointing indeed.

A smart piece of kit. I have only used the double frothing option so far, and it’s worked fine apart from with some frozen milk which was odd. I suspect it works best with full fat milk.

I purchased the SMEG Coffee machine and SMEG milk frother, both in red online last year. We had them.in storage until a few months ago.

Looks great. Good construction. Not noisy. Can froth large quantity at a good temperature. So far no issues. Works very well. Using the frother everyday.

Great Hot Chocolate Maker

I only use this for hot chocolate. It is better than Hotel Chocolat's velvitiser (which I had from launch and have replaced with this) as it makes much hotter hot chocolates, makes larger quantities (2 mugs) and also small quantities. Only 4 stars, because of the price and the fact the chocolate flakes have to be added slowly at the start.

Great milk frother

The Smeg line is so pretty, I have a few items in the green and that itself makes me happy. I was nervous about this purchase as the item is expensive and I take my froth seriously, it’s my morning ritual. I have used it several times now and it works wonderfully! And there are many options which is nice.

Looks Good BUT!!!

It's a good looking machine and compact. But it fails to heat milk to a nice hot temperature. By the time you pour the contents in to a mug, it's tepid. This is because, the machine stops when it reaches its automatically set temperature and the user is unable to change this setting. So, there's no way of getting hot chocolate or hot milk. The frothy setting is VERY frothy, so you feel you are drinking air, because the liquid is on the bottom with layers upon layers of froth. This machine is all frills unfortunately. I definitely think there is a huge gap in the market for a really good frothing / milk heating machine. Just a milk steaming machine would do the trick. I mean, who likes luke warm hot chocolate??!

Great looks, bad quality

Unfortunately, the product is bad quality. I cannot believe that an item with this price is wrongly fabricated.

Love it!

I have been eyeing the white for the past two years. I finally splurged and don't regret it. I love the extra large capacity and the foam is very thick. Clean up is just a quick rinse. I wished the stores stocked the white which is what they show on the shelves. I would of made the impulse buy way back when.

Two years old and it works when it feels like it

This is my fault for not returning the Smeg milk frother as soon as it started playing-up which was quite early on after purchase. The 'wheel' just won't turn and froth the milk most of the time. Sometimes it works and when it does, it's great. Like the fact that the jug and lid can go in the dishwasher. Very disappointed.

Really not as great as everyone made out

We are long time Velvetiser/Dualit milk frother people and really hoped that this would do the job of both. It doesn't. The frothing of the milk for cappuccino is too aerated and not dense enough. We tried lots of different sorts of milks. It shouldn't be this hard.

I Can't Believe It .......

I can't believe this magical smeg milk frother makes the most magical, silky white foam for my coffees. The taste is like drinking coffee through a thick milky heaven. So easy to use, turn the dial to the picture you want on the dial and press start. Makes lovely hot foam or hot milk, velvety smooth hot chocolate and the machine is so quiet. Can easily make 2 coffess of milk. Stainless steel mixer, so easy to clean. Plug is intergrated. Can also froth cold milk for milk shakes.

Looks great but not good for non-milks.

I ordered this after reading that it would froth almond/oat milk. We have been vegetarians for 40 years so real milk is a no-go. We love froth in our coffee and have purchased every kind of non-milk as well as dozens of frothers. Nothing works unless you wear your wrist out, and some of the battery frothers need new batteries every week.

WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY 💰 ???

Having owned 3 or 4 previous milk frothers costing £50 each I was hesitant.....

Lovely hot frothy milk

We love this as a family, my son loves the hot chocolate it makes with chocolate powder and milk, supposed to be even better with chocolate flakes but we haven't got round to that yet. I love the frothy milk on its own and my partner likes a double espresso with just froth on top. I also like to top my flask up with the hot milk rather than cold to keep it hotter for longer. It heats the milk to a really good temperature and has different settings for the amount of froth you want. You can also heat up a large amount of milk which is handy. Sits nice on the worktop, had comments about it straight away. Easy to clean too.

Brilliant replacement

We bought this as a replacement for another branded frother which we had for years. Whilst this machine is much bigger it is also much better! Froths milk ( I use BOB skimmed milk) to creamy peaks and heats milk to a hot temperature for hot chocolate. It's an absolute bonus that the jug goes in the dishwasher. The only downside to the machine is the little disc things that you have to swap for heat/froth. I think these could get lost over time. But all in all the machine feels good quality and hopefully will last as long as my previous one did. Great purchase!!

We Really love this pink smeg milk frother

I really love it. My nespresso one didn’t make enough and always spilled out milk. So we plan on taking the little neapresso one with us on vacations and keeping this beautiful pink smeg appliance on the counter. This smeg one is easy to clean and there are no messes. Our cuisinart coffee pot broke after 5 years. I really wanted a pink smeg coffee pot but after careful consideration we went with a pink moccamaster since they say they last at-least 20 years and make great coffee. I still felt depressed that I didn’t have a pink smeg anything and was very happy to see the positive reviews for their milk frothers! We have made matcha tea and hot chocolate in it too! I like to add my mushroom blend and stevia in it with my malk almond milk then add it to my coffee! This really blends you a lot of hot frothy goodness! I love it and am so pleased ! If I had to do it all over again, I would have gotten a yellow, white or blue moccamaster instead of pink because the two pinks clash and can’t be next to each other on the counter. The pink smeg frothers is glorious! My husband was not happy that I kept purchasing coffee stuff but now he is so happy with this new frother too!
