Kohler K-389-CP spout is "Not as Described"
There are 2 areas where the Kohler K-389-CP spout is "Not as Described".The primary problem is the size given on your web page.The Installation Guide says the pipe should extend 3-5/8" from the wall.Our pipe is 3-7/8" inches from the wall, so it should take *more* turns.But when we try to install the spout, the back hits the wall after only 1.5 turns.Moreover, the reach is not 4-7/16", as shown in the Specifications Sheet; it is actually 4-7/8".I can email you a photo.The secondary problem is the knob on the diverter is not as shown in your web page;it is a different shape. Once again I can email you a photo.I don't think this problem is your fault, since kohler.com has the sameincorrect shape.
Easy to handle our tub fix!
We were able to do a pretty simple replacement for our spout diverterEasy to order and switch the spoutSolved our standing water in the tub during showers. Wish we had done it sooner— easy and we shouldn’t have drug our feet.
Excellent product
Very well made. Looks Like an excellent finish. Comes with internal adapter for slip on fit. Adapter can be removed for threaded installation but is not mentioned in the installation instructions.
Does NOT look anything like the pic shown. Not smooth. Not same finish. They will pawn a different version and then not make it right and send the correct one!! Supposedly they claim there is a new version. Don’t buy this if you think you are getting the original version

I was replacing a threaded bath spout with this slip-fit connected spout and was a bit skeptical. after cutting the threaded part of the old water supply the installation was simple and secure. The new spout works as advertised.

I am disappointed with the sporadic performance as well as the lack of installation instructions The diverter works about 50% of the time, requiring repeated valve pulls.Installed by a licensed plumber, so it isn't the installation that's the issue..

The only issue is we needed to buy an inside connection piece because we couldn’t get that part out of the old faucet. And Home Depot did not carry it but they referred me to a plumbing supply store.It works great, no leaks!

Bath tub faucet
Well I never got a call back. it isn’t right it is longer then my one on tub. I thought I could get a plumber to extend pike but with the covid virus we haven’t gotten it fixed.Disappointed. The part number is right.
Not the same style as shown in pictures. The original version is apparently discontinued so they send out a new version with the same part number. The new version has a squared off front instead of a rounded point like the original. Style aside, quality seems good, with and updated design for the plastic diverter piece. Still going to use this item as planned and I'm sure it'll look fine with the other existing kohler pieces.

If, like me, you are trying to replace an old Devonshire tub spout with a new one, please be awar...
If, like me, you are trying to replace an old Devonshire tub spout with a new one, please be aware that the installation guide and specification sheet on the Home Depot website do not match the product that you receive. It took a call to Kohler to figure out why. The newer Devonshire spout with a NPT connection requires a pipe length of 4 inches, which is longer than the 3 7/8 inches length required for the original Devonshire tub spout. I am unable to replace the spout without calling a plumber to extend the pipe length. I hope this information helps others to avoid the frustrations this caused for me.
