So far so good

Bought this to replace an Anzzi Envo that was dead on arrival, after they wouldnt send a replacement. This is my first (functioning) tankless heater, and I'm happy so far. It was installed in my small three-room getaway cabin; I didn't need much, just the ability to take at least a lukewarm shower and wash hands and dishes.

Not Induction Range Compatible

Ordered the Eco Smart ECO 11 at Home Depot. The original heater came with a broken cover. Home Depot replaced the damaged heater. The ECO11 is a 13Kw heater requiring a single 60amp double pole breaker and #6 wire. Initial power up, there was a noticeable hum from the 60amp breaker. Replacing the breaker did not fix the situation. At 105 degrees, an electrician measured the amperage pull of 27 amps with no measurable voltage drop below 240 volts. The real issue. We have an Induction Range. Using the cooktop, when the hot water heater came on, there was a LOUD BUZZ emanating from the range. Hot water off, buzzing ceased. Electrician measured the amperage pull for both the range and the water heater. No measurable voltage drops in either appliance. Then measured the amperage and voltage when both were in use. No fluctuation in amperage draw No voltage drop.

Good purchase

Works great! I was able to do the simple plumbing myself and had an electrician rewire the breaker. If you already have a 60 amp breaker for your water heater, you're set. Follow the directions and open hot tap and run water through the heater for 4 or 5 minutes before turning on for the first time. I was glad I did because I had a small leak.

Great for single water efficient Shower or single faucet

Ideal for a small flat with one water saver shower head and one or two faucets but you can only use one outlets at a time. Ive installed this under sink. I have a Rheem 18kw for the shower But in a pinch it would work in Sydney as imput water temputure rarely gets below 55F or 12 degress C Any colder part of Australia. You might be having warm showers with hot water tap at 50% and cold tap off Set your expections at no more than `1.75 Gallons/6.65L per miniute and you should be fine

Second time in 4 years the Eco-11 tankless water heater that I bought from the Jasper, GA has failed. No hot water.

This was a replacement for an existing heater that got exposed to extreme freezing temperatures. My heater was 3 years old and I am very satisfied with the performance of the unit. Home Depot had the unit delivered to my house in 2 days. Incredible turn time!!! Thank You Home Depot and keep up the good work. Good old American customer service. Stay with your original core principles and values. What goes WOKE goes BROKE.

I have been using it for about 3 weeks now as a heat source for my garage radiant floor heat. Its a 700sqft garage with about 700ft of 1/2 pex in the slab. I keep the garage at 55 when im not in there and kick it up a couple degrees when needed. I have doubts on how long it will last but we will wait and see.

Installed this as a alternative hot water system during the Summer months in combination with preheated solar water system. Works perfectly as designed. Installed 5/1/2021. Goal was to eliminate the oil burner operation/dependency during the Summer months. It is installed after the preheated solar water. Very easy to install, very easy operation, but I'm a pro. My tip...make sure to install a way to "descale" it if you have hard water/water softener system. When incoming water temps are "hot" unit uses very little electric. On a good day water temp got to 115 deg, with unit set to 110 deg it uses NO electric.

Eco-smart Water Heaters: Very Smart!

In retirement I labored as a handy man in a mobile home park. The recession hit the widows in the park. One discovery was a reliable, tankless, inexpensive hot water heater Ecosmart 11. Over a half dozen years I installed about 10 of them replacing failed tank type water heaters. They are money savers from installation to every day use. Never had to repair one, never got a defective one, never had a complaint. They save a lot of space in cramped quarters too! All my installations were in summer cottages or Florida homes. Larger models are required where very cold water is entering the systems in the winter. Do your homework!

The concept of the electric tankless water heater is very good. I purchased based on it was for my dedicated master suite that was added on later years ago. I works good for my shower and faucets but will need to finagle for the soak tub. The install was fairly straight forward other than figuring the parts to make work with the existing pipes. I also ran the AWG 6 wire and replacing the 10-2 for the old water heater. While it says to use a professional I was fairly confident in doing the work myself having done some of this and confiding with my retired electrical contractor's son-in laws father. I like the fact that I only use hot water when I am using hot water. With wiring and plumbing parts I spent about the same as a new tank. I still have wire left over to do another. I am looking at using on a construction project vs the regular water heater but the large size unit.

It takes a little to get used to. I pick this model because it said it was good for 2 open faucets and I only have one bathroom. And it's heats pretty well as long as I don't open the lower faucet in the shower in full. If I do that I have to adjust the pressure of the water so less water comes out and then the water will get hot. With the shower head, as well as the other faucets, it's ok because the head holds the water pressure more. This heater it's definitely not for more than one bathroom in the house. If you have more than one bathroom, you can only use one shower at a time. And if you are using the shower and they open another faucet in the kitchen, the water will get colder. But for what I need it for, it's been ok.

I purchased this unit 2 years ago. It no longer heats water. The lifetime warranty is a joke with many hoops and red tape that add up to a big nothing burger. In order to have "lifetime warranty" you are required to hire a licensed plummer/electrican to install the device, if you install it yourself you have zero warranty. Two years ago I hired a licensed electrician to install the device as required. Now upon attempting to utilize the warranty to get the device repaired, I have realized that will be an impossible task to do. They require you to "troubleshoot" with them over the phone, which requires removing the device that you had professionally installed and following some crazy set of instructions over the phone. The beauty of the required "troubleshooting" is that it must be done Monday-Friday 9am-5pm EST. There is no one available on a Saturday or on a weekday at 7pm, the "troubleshooting" hours are regular work hours when most people are at work. Even if you decide to take time off from work and "troubleshoot" all they do is mail you a part that you would then have to pay someone to install. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!! the warranty is a complete scam!

I used this to get hot water to the opposite end of the house. My water heater is on one end of the house and kitchen, half bath and laundry room is on the other end of my ranch home. About a 60 foot run. We would have to stand there and wait about 2 minutes to get hot water on the opposite end of the house watching $ go down the drain waiting for hot water. I spiced this in with pex to the existing hot water line at the end under the kitchen sink and into this unit and spiced into the main line that feeds the end of the house that we have to wait for hot water. Now we get hot water almost instantly on the opposite end of the water heater. When the hot water from the hot water heater reaches this unit it shuts off and we are using the hot water from the hot water tank which makes this unit more efficient. That's only if you are running the hot water for more then 2 minutes.

Awesome product

Ive installed several of the ecosmart units including the 27 and 18 models but this was the first time on the 11. I was putting it in my parent’s poolhouse which has one shower, one bathroom sink, and one kitchen sink so i opted for this small unit. It says it will do 2 gpm but it actually did 2.5 with no issue which made me very happy. I should say that this is the middle of the summer in central Alabama so it could be different in the winter time but i doubt it. I tested the amperage at about 38 amps with just the shower running but it went to 55 with both shower and sunk running. Im actually not sure why considering i ran both into buckets and confirmed it was still right at 2.5 gpm due to the fact that the water flow was reduced at both. Maybe i’m naive but i expect to get a minimum of ten years out of these units, most likely much longer. With scheduled flushing with vinegar of course. I actually have a Marey unit in my own home which is around seven years old and ive never had a single issue. These units are very well made so i dont think you can go wrong with them. Good luck to all

Replaced an 11 Year old American Heat Tankless water heater with this ECOSMART tankless and so far so good. Easy to install, but again, replaced an older tankless so most of the pipes, wires, and hardware were already there. But, did add the GE filter to it and used a bunch of Sharkbite fittings and hose to finish it off. I put the filter farther over to the right because it's easier to get at from there when we need to change the filters. I like the digital display on this unit, the old tankless didn't have that. I have it set at 125* and get great hot water in a 3 bed 2 bath 1200 sq ft home in Seminole, Florida. Unit is mounted in the garage above the shelf where the old tank water heater was years ago and It takes about 35 seconds to start feeling the water getting hot. That's pretty much the same as the old tankless. It's only been about a week, but so far we're very happy with this. May update as the time goes on or if we have any problems.

Bought this unit April 2017. Now at the end of October 2018 it is already leaking. Called the company to receive the warranty that they advertised on the box. It is only covered IF it is registered and to register it, it has to be installed by a licensed plummer or electrician. Of course you do not find that out until you buy it and open the box AND study the book. That information should be on the outside of the box. We have built many houses and installed water heaters for years but because we do not have a license they will not warranty it and want to make me buy the part to fix it. They also shifted the blame very quickly on us because they say it is mineral build up. The unit was clean of minerals when we opened it up.

Nice unit, works well so far.

Nicely made unit. Clean lines, nice display, lightweight, easy to mount. You'll need a terminal box to wire it up since it comes with it's own pigtail cable (they don't want you to open up the case since it will void it's warranty, apparently; multi breaker units might be different), so I bought an inexpensive 60 amp A/C unit type cut-off switch box with a pull out switch. Just mount it near the heater on the wall and run your 6 gauge wire to it from your breaker panel. I just wish they had included adapters so that you can plumb it to 3/4" piping, so you'll have to buy your own if you wish to connect it to your existing 3/4" pipe. I had trouble using pipe dope (maybe it was too old or the wrong kind?), so I switched to Teflon tape (5 layers) on each fitting and that did the trick. Love the easy to turn dial, press to turn on/off feature and easy to read digital display which comes on when hot water is called for. Now, we'll see how long it lasts before some type of failure...

I bought the ECO 11 water heater to have as a spare as my Rheem was giving me problems and I wanted to have a replacement on hand so I was not without hot water in the event the Rheem went out. This was a big mistake! No fault of Home Depot or ECO, but upon insulation I found the warranty card to mail in and I was 97 days past the purchase. Home Depot return policy is 90 days. Anyway I hooked up the water heater and my breaker began to BUZZ. I had to consult an electrician which determined there was a malfunction is in the heater itself and not on my electrical end. I am unable to contact ECO as their phone lines are always busy. I did get a response via email saying to contact them by phone..which again their phone is always busy. I am afraid to use the water heater for fear of a fire. Now I have no choice but to purchase another water heater and eat the cost of this one..( that has only been installed 2 days). This is very disappointing.
